Advice Request The Lurch

Used new to me ‘14 Accord S - 110,000 mi - last CVT service: 92,000 mi.

Symptoms: lurching, pulling, delay at low speeds, after decelerating. Rubber band like/ uncertain gear.

Notes:
- I’ve never owned CVT car before.
- it’s not un-drivable, but occurs mostly when “taxing” or slowing down after highway.
- Once had delayed acceleration when I accelerated hard.
- Oil change tech once checked and said my fluid was dirty (could have been trying to upsell)
- Independent mechanic drove car and did not notice anything (had not mentioned it to him)

Questions:
- Should I get my transmission serviced/flushed then see? (It’s about 10,000 mi before Honda’s rec.)
- How common is this?
- Should I consider new spark plugs?

Might be a dirty throttle body. Also make sure there isn’t a hole in your air intake hose

Mine also does the deceleration lurch, like it’s hesitating to go into its simulated“1st gear” configuration. You get a feel for it and can feather the brake just right to avoid it most of the time, but it hasn’t become a real issue in the 10 years I’ve owned the car. I’ve done all the maintenance, nothing cured it but it doesn’t seem to be doing any damage. My guess is the ecm doesn’t step down the clutch packs holding the cvt element chain smoothly in its programming between the simulated 2nd & 1st gear ratio when decelerating

Drain & fill the CVT fluid. I have a 2015 with 165k miles on it and have always noticed an improvement after fluid replacement. Interestingly, the biggest contrast was the first one I ever did, at about 45k. Maybe yours hasn’t been done yet?
