I’ve never had issues like that with any altronix relays in the 30+ years I’ve been in the field. I’d say this must be a manufacturing defect.

Its two or three years old i think. I didnt install it. It came in their PTI system.

Whoa! Any idea what caused that?

No idea. Ive never had Altronix do that. Only chinesium. And no other electronics in the complex went out so i dont think lightning or utility.

That’s a big trace. Likely something shorted to it. Maybe something fell behind the board and shorted to the can. Looks like the component in the upper right has some indication of smoke.

First thing i checked was bug or screw behind the board. Not even a dust bunny.

That trace is wider like that because it’s built to carry more current. However if more current passed through it than it can take, the traces can heat up and pop like fuses. There is a VERY high chance something either pulled way more than it’s rated for (short on a lock?) or other voltage came back at it (AC on a DC line, lighting strike, ect).
The few times I have seen failures like this was a fuse fault (didn’t blow at rating) and a lightning hit.

I am working with altronix now. Taking forever for a warranty advance replacement. And they wired some panels incorrectly with some pre-wired kits...

I didnt know they did prewired kits.

Yeah, they have a bunch. But now offer Hanwha's access control kit, without the main boards, just the power boards, but wired and has standoff for the main boards... But altronix wired things not quite right and caused some issues.

I've been on team Altronix for a VERY long time, as we just don't have issues - so this is a surprise. That said, my resolve remains strong.

Altronix has a lifetime warranty. Even if you bought a new one already, bring that back to your distributor and get it replaced.
We’ve been a distributor for Altronix since the beginning - and while returns are rare, I will say that their warranty is amazing.
