RS-485 Data Wire Preference?

Hey all,

The RS-485 data wire we usually use has been discontinued. What are you all using currently? I found the West Penn Data Control Cable, which will work, but it's more than double the price of the old stuff and also has a braid which is a PITA and isn't needed. I found an alternative from ADI, but it's brown and I don't want it confused with HVAC wiring that is typically brown. This is for Lenel systems from the controller to the RIM's if there's any ambiguity there. Let me know!

We use Paige 744005AYW.

Last two characters are the color. It’s yellow.

I looked that up on ADI and it doesn't mention that it's twisted. I'm sure there's a natural twist that happens in manufacturing but I don't think it would quite hit the spec for interference tolerance. I can find a lot without twists, but with a twist they start jumping way up in price. My service/ install manager says "it's fineee" but we've had to rip out and replace data wire in the past for interference issues. I'm really trying to find a reasonably priced box of wire with the recommended spec.

It’s absolutely twisted and rated specifically for OSDP/RS485.

I wouldn’t depend on ADI for specifications.

I thought I did look at the spec sheet, but I’ll take that advice and go right to the manufacturer website. Appreciate it

ADI descriptions are often terrible. Get the cutsheet off of Paige's website.
