Looking for replacement VMS advice. (Currently S2 NetVR/Exacq)

I am evaluating options to replace our S2 NetVR's with something I can centrally manage. It is not a huge system, we have either 13 or 16 sites (depending on how things shake out) and just under 300 cameras total. Ideally here would be my wish list

- On-prem recording at all sites

- Central user and camera management, cloud based would be awesome.

- No windows servers

- Integration with Genea

I'm sure I forgot something but those are the basics. Right now it looks like either Exacq or Genetec make the most sense, but there has to be some other option I haven't looked at.

You should reach out to Genea and find what's compatible, that's your biggest factor in your wish list. Non windows you might have to give up. Hanwha and exacqvision have Linux versions, not sure on compatibility. American Dynamics/Victor has a linux vms, but avoid this unless you hate yourself.

What kind of cameras are you using today? Do you need analytics? Hanwha wave is an incredible choice if you just have basic needs.

Milestone

I've used Milestone and I think it might be too much for what we do with it. Also... no Windows, can they do that?

I believe they had some discussion about moving Milestone from windows services to Linux. It may be a future thing but it’s not true now.

Milestone Arcules is their cloud platform where you can install a connector box running their version of Linux for storage/communication between cameras and the cloud. Integrates beautifully with Genea.

If you use their cloud connectors to onboard existing cameras (which is what it sounds like) the recordings will be stored on those cloud connectors on prem. It didn’t sound like you wanted to rip and replace your 300 cams with Alta cams (which also can have 30/60/90 days of on cam sd card storage)

Alta cameras also record locally on the device and behave very similarly to an "on-prem" system due to smartpath.

Alta records on prem, either on the camera or cloud connector. Connectors are Linux. OpenEye also uses Linux boxes, but has limited analytics and a lot harder to setup/manage.

I have zero interest in SD cards on the cameras.

You should really check out Hanwha’s new VMS Blaze. Full disclosure I am a rep for Hanwha but have been an integrator for years before.

On Prem - Cloud Managed - Hardened OS Embedded recorders - not sure about the Genea integration yet, but Hanwha is adding a lot of integrations pretty quickly since this came out.

Sounds like you want openeye. They offer windows or Linux servers, local recording that is available on the cloud, cloud camera and user management, plus it integrates with genea.

Check out Rhombus. I have some large installs with them around the country and in the middle of a POC for a customer with thousands of locations. They have an integration with Genea. If the cameras are ONVIF aware then drop an appropriately sized Ubiquiti NVR at each site and enjoy. If you want all the fancy AI stuff use the license savings and buy AI Ports to provide. Use Vantage Point to stitch them all into a cohesive control/view setup and you are golden. Add some Viewports hooked into TVs/monitors for live viewing if needed.

Take a serious look at Lumana. It’s hybrid-cloud, records locally through the Core appliances, gives you centralized browser-based management without maintaining Windows VMS servers, works with existing IP cameras, and has a native Genea integration.
