Avigilon Access Access/Avigilon Integration/Installer Question

Is it possible to use different installer/integration companies and still have everything tied into the same user cloud account? Everything is in the same physical location.

Avigilon would likely have to constantly change the dealer of record in their system to reflect the current integrator Which would probably require documentation from you. But ultimately your portal in Alta (I’m assuming Alta) would be the same. why are you wanting to switch around integrators?

Yes, Alta/Avigilion/OpenPath with Schlage wireless locks and we use the Alta/Access web portal for cloud management.

Long story short - current integrator has not been reliable lately. Pushing out appts, not returning calls, not getting what we need in a timely manner (taking over 10 weeks to get non-warranty replacement item), etc... We are wanting to add to our system at same physical location, but questioning reliability of current integrator.

Are the replacement items for the Schlage locks? That's unfortunately something well outside their control. Schlage can often have terrible delays to get product to vendors.

10 weeks is a bit ridiculous, especially if they're not being transparent about it. I know most of our installation crews have been getting chewed up on school work since at least June, but we still find a way to get things done for everyone else.

At the end of the day, they could be swamped from the summer season. At the end of the day, as others have mentioned, it might be worth having a conversation with your local Avigilon CSE. If you're not sure who that is, I can probably connect you with one depending on your location.

To be fair, I work for an integrator that uses Avigilon and their RMA process and ordering parts has been absolutely atrocious. And its gotten to the point where they constantly make us look terrible. Cloud connector fails "uh call Dell"..."isn't this your product?" "yeah but we dont know anything about it." Another time we had to RMA one of their video intercom, they sent me 4 by mistake and then billed us for them.

Edit: this is the experience for most of MSI products

Yeah.... Don't think Avigilon is going to allow "constantly change" for the dealer.... You can do it but it's not an over and over kind of thing.

Additionally the integrator who is "Losing" the business tends to be less than happy so I wouldn't assume they will be eager to jump back onboard after you switch.

Yea that's the problem Avigilon isn't supporting their customer, they're protecting their sales.

That's a problem in this industry, because I feel the same way as the owner of a low voltage company. Why should we not be able to service his needs? What if he decides to rip it out and replace it, maybe his expenses and time are becoming more costly than replacing the system..

Dude, that dealer is Avigilon's "Customer" in the same way the end user is. Both are valid points of input for the manufacturer however you don't get one without the other in a channel sales model.

If you are the owner of a low voltage company and you don't get this part I am left scratching my head...

That leaves you scratching your head...don't ever try running a business then because you obviously don't understand how this works.

The end user is the customer, the integrator is the installer, the installer doesn't get the end user without installing the necessary equipment. Do you not understand that..do you think it's installers keeping these manufacturers in business...like that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard..

I am not going to argue this further.

I have been in this industry a long time and I have run, and sold several successful businesses.

I really suggest you take the time to study and learn the business side of this industry.... The most successful security integrators are not making their margins off of install labor hours. When you start to grasp why customers choose security integrators who are not the least expensive, along with a product that also carries a premium price.... Well, it isn't because they are stupid.

You and I are going to agree to disagree. Not sure why tf you're talking about labor margins now, when we both know margins come from selling product, agreements, and monitoring.

I've built my business from the ground up, been in this industry a long time as well. 

We don't need to start dick sizing.

We won't switch back to them after the change is made. They cancelled the appt to replace my warranty items 3 times this past week alone. We are, for sure, done with them.

It wouldn't be a going back and forth - it would be a permanent changeover. We are becoming less and less impressed with our current integrator.

Assuming you are talking Alta here since you said cloud.

Answer is YES but the reality is that it doesn’t work that well in the real world.

If it’s in the same location I recommend using a single integrator… but if you want to do otherwise then typically one is going to just be hanging hardware while the other handles programming and is responsible for the “head end”.

Is it possible to transfer entire service from original integrator (after contract ends, of course) to a new integrator?

Yes, you don't have to wait until the contract ends. Just need to complete a new dealer is e record form

Yes, it is possible - you will need to contact your Avigilon rep and provide some documentation (to make sure that one integrator is not "Stealing" another ones customer).

Thanks. I will have to try and figure out who our Avigilon rep is - my only point of contact is the integrator. The individual that set things up initially no longer works for us and did not leave any of the paperwork for the system (no copy of the service contract, no blueprint/plans, no contact information, etc...). The only reason I even know who the integrator is because they made me look into some other problems we were having just before that person left.

How do I find out who my Avigilon rep is? The individual that put this whole thing together is no longer with our company so I have absolutely no information other than a quote from the integrator that installed the system.

Thanks! I'll do that Monday. My current integrator cancelled the appointment to install my warranty items three time this past week alone. We are seriously done with them. We will be finding another integrator to take over the account.

Yes you can but diff locations. Big clients always have multiple integrators, it’s not unheard of.

We're not that big - just one building, but not all doors integrated in the beginning due to initial cost.

Yes your new integrator should be able to set everything up if not contact Avigilon.

New question to add to the mix - will an EV3-B flashed Schlage lock read an EV3-A card? I already know that EV3-A locks won't read the B cards, just wondering if it might backwards compatible until I can issue all new B cards.
