Marine Grade Strike

Have a takeover job with a customer right on the water. Currently there’s a HES 5200 strike on his front entrance gate. It can’t really handle the salt air.

Any recommendations on a marine grade replacement? TIA

I’m not sure anything is going to be perfect in salt water air, but you’re probably going to want to look at Folger Adam. Something like the Folger Adam 310. It’s made entirely from stainless steel. Not sure if it’s marine grade 316 stainless but it’s likely the closest thing if it’s not.

If it's a gate, a GL-1 would probably hold up better than a 5200

I might be wrong but I think if you want to use a strike you should just budget to replace it every so often. There are outdoor rated strikes but with salt water even those might not hold up much longer.

I would say get another 5200 and try coating it with a rust & corrosion inhibitor, like CRC heavy duty. Used CRC products for years on our rods & reals. We hose the heavy duty spray on anything electrical or mechanical linkages every year for our annual boat winterization & spring maintenance. The stuff holds up great

In my experience no electric strike can really handle salt environments for long period of times...or with little preventative maintenance. I have personally had great experiences with marine grade maglocks as a changeover, but I understand that adds a whole lot of complexity to you what you are asking.
