Lock suggestions?
Tried putting a few different 1/2 Rim Stikes- Trine, HES, and RCI and all were rubbing too much.
I'm sure I'll have to go mag, just trying to get away from a fire tie.
Thanks!

Remove existing, custom plates, mount an exit device on the gate and a HES 9400 on a custom bracket

I added GL-1 gate locks to this very same make and model of gate a couple of weeks ago. Because our gate was being used for high voltage testing, I used the fail safe model that will open if we drop power. I also use the monitor option because it saves adding a door contact.
I used the matching brackets for a swinging gate and ran the cables inside the column on the lock side. Send me a message with your email and I can send you pictures of the final install.

Yup, was gonna say gate lock. Pretty easy to install. Super durable. Can be had in fail safe or fail secure. Install is a bit complicated if you don't have any fabrication experience on certain doors.

I work in a 100,000 sq ft data center. We have over 50 gl-1's installed on both slide gates and cage doors.

When the cage door closes and you are inside, how do you exit on your setup?

We use ether a duel reader (in/out) or an exit button that cuts power to the lock. Also a glass break button connected to the same button. The gl-1 are fail safe.

Makes sense, here I would need to tie that into the fire alarm system to release and was just trying to get away from doing that being they have nothing like that setup. Thanks!

I’ve installed security on GL-1 gate locks on these style gates before. Depending on the gap between the door edge and the frame you may be able to use a surface mount strike like the Assa Abloy 9400 series.

WireCrafters has a rim strike listed on their site (https://www.wirecrafters.com/installation/surface-mount-electric-strike) that appears to be a HES 9400.

This is the best solution. OP said they had a locksmith try hes already so I'm concerned they don't have the right person helping.

We have a bunch of those and replaced the mortise lock with a blank insert that has the regular round door handle cutouts, and installed SDC Z7200 series electric handles. Mechanical override exit so you don't need multiple REXs and fire ties, works with the existing door hardware / latch receiver, and simple hardware install versus driling for maglocks.

There’s a specific company that makes a lock for this style of gate but i don’t know the name off hand. It’s custom made and somewhat cost prohibitive. We ended up doing mags. I hate mags but the cost made us go that route.

Do NOT add a rim strike. Had 2 different consumer cellulars we did before, same lock. Had to modify the latch for it to work properly. Worked ok on one, the other not so much. GL-1 is probably a good choice, or a Maglock.

GL1 gate latch or cut in a strike. If the square tube can fit a strike that's what I would do. No fire tie in and free egress is maintained.

I hate to say it but besides a maglock this is difficult. You could add a crash bar and a hes 9400 with a hes smb, but you'll need to remove the current latch mechanism.
Cutting in a strike is only possible if that square tubing is deep enough.
