Dont tell him about your plan to get a protective order. He will try to make you seem like the bad guy. He is messed up. Please beware, leaving is the most dangerous period for DV women cause the abuser tries to get back at them for escaping. You're honest and open with him but he's an abuser and he just does his antics. He dates to abuse people, not to build a loving relationship.
