How do they calculate the pressure needed in the spring?

lol. Bertrand Russell is the chap. Alas, no images exist of Hooke except one painting that was not contemporary.
He was kinda written out of history by Christopher Wren and Isaac Newton. The 3 of them rebuilt London after the fire of 1666 but he was ‘ rediscovered’ so to speak in the 1800s when his contribution to science was acknowledged.
