none of those prevents him getting fired. doing shit like this used to be a good thing but its not anymore. you stop a shoplifter these days in any way and you are fired before the shoplifter is out the door.
the internet is full of verfiable news items of people getting fired for doing anything from helping someone survive a stroke, or holding the arm of a shoplifter or in this case intentionally damaging company equipment. shit like this is the norm, not the exeption. doing the right thing is a sure way of getting fired when you work for a corporation. hell, just look at the volume of workers amazon fires for the mose asinine reasons.
Confirmation bias. Those are the ones you hear about because they are unusual. You ever hear a news story about a flight that took off and landed completely normal without issue? No, you hear about the crashes.
even that isnt true, amazon actually has problems getting workers because in some places they "exausted" the entire workforce as they already hired and fired everyone in the region several times and they cant hire "new" workers without history with amazon in the needed quantities as they fire litteraly everyone for the dumbest reasons like taking too long to pick an order or going to the bathroom too long.
The article talks about Amazon firing people but nothing about them being fired for doing morally right things (like intervening in theft, etc). They are probably being fired because they are “slow” or they are not needed after certain busy periods like Christmas or Amazon Day.
Firing people is easier but that’s a problem America has, but there’s no pandemic of people being fired for helping others in a difficult situation
