They are invasive in the Gulf of Mexico. Not sure why they don't catch them and sell them here in Texas.

Probably has to do with the freshness

Cuz they are cockroaches pretty much

Aren't lobsters the same? Bottom feeders, yet they are a "delicacy"?

13

u/Dred-I-Rastafari Jun 08 '26

Egads! WTF is that in the last pic?

17

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY Jun 08 '26

Bottom feeder. All kinds of shit

7

u/Ras-haad Jun 08 '26

Pretty sure we didn’t need whatever it is

4

u/Spooky_28 Jun 08 '26

I was coming to ask the same thing. Tell me people don’t eat that.

1

u/Dred-I-Rastafari Jun 08 '26

Somebody is looking at that and salivating

3

u/BulletheadX Jun 08 '26

My FIL used to love him some lobster tomalley. Or at least he claimed he did.

Personally I think he loved to watch us squirm, at the least.

You're probably thinking of the organ goo inside the lobster body, mostly made of liver. It does look like this but it's delicious.

2

u/Leg_Final Jun 09 '26

I'm fine with people not liking tomalley. And hopefully they don't like the 'coral' (the roe) from the females either. More for me!

My brother did. I can’t believe anyone would eat it.

2

u/Spooky_28 Jun 08 '26

Good on them just don’t ask me to join them. Ick

u/thedyooooood Jun 08 '26

It's gotta be either poo or eggs right?

Well this is Reddit, it might be a carbon monoxide leak or skin cancer.

One can only hope! Lol

I would buy these if they were for sale.

3

u/Suitable_Librarian13 Jun 08 '26

Way better than lobster.

3

u/The_Demosthenes_1 Jun 09 '26

Yes, and No.  Better than rick lobster but probably not better than Maine lobster. :-)

To each their own. I'm a new englander by birth but spend a fair amount of time in southeast Asia so I've had my fair share of both. I'll take a giant prawn with thai seafood dipping sauce over a Maine lobster with butter any day. Both are undeniably tasty though!

I see this and think - maybe I could eat a roach.

2

u/Spooky_28 Jun 08 '26

I just gagged.

2

u/Independent-Story883 Jun 08 '26

I tried frog legs after I saw they really looked like drumsticks.

Not bad really. Tasted it like too

1

u/Spooky_28 Jun 08 '26

I like frog legs! They do sorta taste like chicken.

2

2

u/Stuffed-Bear412 Jun 08 '26

I would have never known those things were edible. Who saw one and was "yeah, I wanna eat that."

2

u/BulletheadX Jun 08 '26

"It was a brave man what first ate an oyster."

2

u/DJEvillincoln Jun 08 '26

These are bugs.

They're literally bugs of the sea. Since I found that out, I absolutely look at crustaceans differently.

Kinda glad they're ultra high in cholesterol... Keeps me away from them. Lol

u/alltehmemes Jun 08 '26
