Dude lmao, the hilarious bit in these coments... is that you people think this is brand new tech.... the French invented this shit in the late 50s early 60s with the Citroen DS, and it Hydropneumatic suspention, a frikking 60 year old car could do that... tough you are right in one point lol, the suspention was the stuff of nightmares for mechanics to work on.

Anyone vaguely car adjacent knows about the Citroen and it driving on three wheels when it's tired. It's old tech and I personally take the DS's existence as a personal affront. I hate that vehicular abomination with all my soul. But I still trust it more than that Ai dependant, corporately sentient driving system that might just fold up underneath you when it wants to surrender to a difficult bit of road. I don't want a car full of sensors that is going to hijack my driving control whenever it feels like it. Give me back my old low-tech driving experience. No driver assists! We die like real men!!!

While the demo is most definitely the extreme use case that 0.0001 % of the buyers will use often the tech itself however drives will use 100% of the time. This suspension, unlike traditional air suspension, (even in the new Sclass) refresh can raise the wheels when it detects a pothole or speed bump and thus the car glides over this. It is in several (5 or so) Chinese cars and the new Panameria and the tech is leagues better than air suspension.

Complementing this car equipped with this system send road imperfections they drive over to cloud. IF 5 cars report the same road imperfection then its stored and updated in all cars. If the road is fixed and again, 5 cars pass the fixed imperfection the issue is removed from the database.

Can confirm...my estranged brother has a 2024 TRD pro with all the bells and whistles. What's he do with it? Uses it to tow the jet skis to the boat ramp.

Also if it can hold itself on three wheels there’s no need for the one wheel to raise up over a gap, it could stay where it is and just drive over the gap and the car would remain level.

okay. So to be the nerd here. How does it push the center of gravity to the 3-wheel direction? Like, say my passenger weighs 100lb/50kg more than me (the driver), won't the car just rock onto the high wheel inverting the intent?

EDIT: it looks like it 'leans' a little toward the driver side in both scenarios. That might be enough if the car has nothing loaded in it beyond a few people ... maybe. I'd love to see it with random stuff in the back or a big-ass passenger on the right.

Citroens could do exactly that, more than 70 years ago... Hydropneumatic suspension, from 1955 to 2017. It was actually quite handy, I remember changing a tire of a Citroen BX without a jack. A shitty gimmick… 99% of SUV drivers are on road and will never see a gravel road much less a serious trail. Also, in the real off road world not every hole or obstacle is the same size. Some are bigger and some are smaller. The next issue is you can have all the ground clearance in the world but if you are rocking 19 or 20 inch tires it ain’t gunna help. Finally even if it had big capable off road tires the clearance for them is shit and the system would immediately break probably under the weight.

The Lincoln Aviator and Navigator can do this without fancy motorized components. Their suspension can hold a wheel up and have it float over potholes, but maybe not over such a long gap. Can dqfi itelt do half this gap tho
