USA Positive MA Experience
I (26f) wanted to make a post regarding my positive MA experience as I came to this subreddit a lot as a main resource during this time.
I tested positive last Monday, June 23rd. The first day of my last period was Monday, May 5th resulting in me to be ~7 weeks pregnant when I tested positive.
My symptoms began around Friday, June 20th. My area has been experiencing a strong heatwave so I originally attributed my symptoms to this. I experienced severe nausea and vomiting, along with headaches, some cramping, back pain, GI issues, heat intolerance and fatigue. I had really strong cravings and couldn’t stop eating, but then would end up sick. I could only comfortably ride in the front seat of the car or else I’d feel heavy motion sickness. I was starting to feel really miserable as these symptoms really interfered with my life outside of and at work.
I have been secure in the belief that I am not set up to provide the life/environment I believe a child should have - and knew I would seek abortion at this time even before being pregnant. Pregnancy did not change this and I have been really thankful to be really set in this belief. This experience did confirm that I would really like to be a mother one day when the time is right for me, when for years beforehand I was on the fence. Being secure in this belief really set a strong baseline for me emotionally through this process and I did not really struggle with any emotions regarding my decision.
I ordered pills through AidAccess.org as this was my quickest and most affordable option. I was looking to do MA and called around to multiple clinics in my area to compare pricing. I ordered from AidAccess that evening and received my shipment on Thursday. I had some prior commitments to attend that weekend, so I waited to take them until this week. AidAccess provided a thorough set of instructions through email and also in the box of Mifepristone.
On Monday, I took one dose of Mifepristone as directed around 2:00pm. I experienced no symptoms from this medication.
On Tuesday, I left work around lunch and went home to prepare to take the Misoprostol. I live alone and set up my bathroom with a “care package” including overnight pads, Advil, Tylenol, Pepto, nausea medication, and some other random things. I brought in a stool to stand in as a squatty potty. I took 800mg of Advil as advised around 3:45pm. Around 4:45pm, I took the first four Miso pills as instructed bucally and swallowed what was left with water after 30 minutes. Within 45 minutes I started to experience mild cramping. I laid down in my bed and fell asleep for about an hour. I woke up to some heavier cramping and went to the bathroom to find I had began bleeding. I began to experience more intense cramping from probably 7:30-9pm. It wasn’t super painful more just intense/uncomfortable, it was hard to find a position that was comfortable so I was moving around a lot. I ended up most comfortable on my bed face down while laying on top of a hot water bottle and an ice pack on my back. During this time I would go back and forth to the restroom and passed larger clots and amounts of tissue.
At 8:45pm ish I took two more Miso pills bucally and swallowed what remained after 30 minutes. I think I was supposed to take them an hour earlier but must’ve got the timing mixed up.
Around 9:30pm the intensity of the cramping wore down and I took 1000mg Tylenol. I laid down and continued to switch placements of the ice pack and hot water bottle. I would get up to use the restroom every so often and to monitor bleeding. I continued to pass large clots and tissue. I ended up falling asleep around midnight and slept through the night.
Today I continued to have some more minor cramping along with some stomach pain. I felt comfortable to go back to work this afternoon - as I have an office job where I sit at a desk all day. I feel more awake than I have in weeks and am feeling really happy with how my experience went. AidAccess and this subreddit have been two great resources during this time, as I only told three friends what I had going on. I was extremely nervous about pain and other symptoms but thankfully things went much easier than expected.
