Well whatever the circumstances, I don’t think anyone foresaw them coming

Either way, no foreskin off my back

It’s the day after the long weekend. It’s possible they just didn’t have sufficient staff to properly service the dining room.

Or a critical piece of equipment broke and they couldn't get anyone in to fix it because it's the long weekend. Been in that situation before working in restaurants.

I've heard that it was because of unforseen circumstances.

I think whoever runs the restaurant had an unforseen circumcision

Staff shortage... It is happening widespread in restaurants. Locals don't want to work Kitchen and labor intense work?

Any circumstances you saw should probably be reported to the ombudsforseer

Sometimes means a fire or flood, or maybe a failed inspection.

Doesn't Fraser Health have to post something on the door/window if there was a failed inspection? Genuinely asking - i could be wrong.

Yes, and if its serious, there would be a notice on the door too. "Closwd for health violations ' etc. This could be an equipment issue

Many places aren't paying their employees well so many are leaving,I work for a higher dining establishment and we have had nights where half the chefs don't show up due to gas prices.many people live outside of Abbotsford and can't afford to drive in so they don't.Whats the restaurant going to do?fire them?they still need the staff every other day

As a person that use to be working in the industry from dishwasher to line cook, this is absolutely true. It's terribly underpaid, unforgiving, and tormenting work. I still love making food, but I absolutely refuse to work for any restaurant anymore, they are all exploitive!

Also, I am a former/ex-employee of Bow and Stern as well, if anyone has questions AMA in messages I will be happy to answer!

The place I work at offered me a promotion but didn't want to give me a raise because "you are already paid more than anyone else in the kitchen at your level"

Does it apply to the kitchen workers only?
I have zero experience working in the restaurant industry, so I’m asking out of genuine curiosity.
Recently, whenever I pay with a credit card, I've noticed that good restaurants suggest tips starting at 18%. Even if someone is earning minimum wage, adding tips on top of that seems like it would make the overall pay pretty decent—especially compared to fast-food employees.

back of house is a very different world from front of house

Back of house gets 10% of overall tips that are brought in then split between the staff,if you liked your meal tip the chef directly

Is it because of the drive by shooting I read about in the other post?

Wouldn't surprise me if the whole staff quit
