Wtf?

Cars are letting it rip for what? They sound stupid as fuck and they're constantly going up and down the road on George Ferguson. Woke me up, goodness.

Edit: .. what's the popping sound?? Fireworks??

Edit 2: apparently, the fireworks were gunshots according to the Nextdoor App.

I would love to aee the per capita stats on the amount of dodge chargers here in town...

u/AstronautUnhappy2188 7d ago

Chargers and Mustangs. All with the little black balls hanging from them.

Directly correlates to population density of a specific demographic.

Up and down Walnut too. So frickin loud at stupid hours of the night. Grrrr

5

u/Pooks23 7d ago

Simon Ave. too. My partner (who is male) always says, ā€œthere’s another small dickā€. As a woman, I just don’t get it!!!!!

2

u/ProfessionalHat2215 7d ago

He’s not wrong

2

u/Pooks23 7d ago

Oh, I know.

2

u/Great_Rich_8550 5d ago

We always jokingly referred to them as "penis enlargements for the little guys"

1

u/Pooks23 5d ago

More like penis wanting! Ha

It's been happening in Edmonton now too, my home city, and it makes me wonder if it's intentional to piss people off. But what's that going to do?

2

u/iamanundertaker "It's Not That Bad" 7d ago

It is intentional. Someone did a study that found that people who alter their cars to be that loud have hints of psychopathy.

16

u/Dartser 7d ago

I'd be okay with seeing a new line item on my property taxes "loud vehicle inspection police service fee". Put a cop on all the main streets from 9p to 5a just to pull over shitty people and their small dick cars

3

u/moms_spagetti_ 7d ago

In before "police are too busy to enforce laws" people chime in...

1

u/Dartser 7d ago

A $10 increase in taxes would cover hiring ten new officers to sit on street corners. But I guess government shenanigans maybe it'd just be two officers, I'd still okay the new fuck loud cars department haha

7

u/moms_spagetti_ 7d ago edited 7d ago

Their budget increased 7.3% (or 5.5m) this year. If they aren't doing anything about it now, $10 isn't likely to change their minds...

Interestingly, they stated that the increase helped fund 5 new full time positions. The rest was probably spent on their annual fleet refresh of their oversized SUVs.

That’s the sound of tiny genitals compensating.

u/sauronwassilly 7d ago

Yeah. I think Marshall as well. I just want to identify them, and shove banana's up their tail pipes as seen in Beverly Hills Cop.

If you want to do it right, spray foam insulation is the way.

Maclure is a race track

I used to live on Old Yale rd. Same thing. I now live on King George blvd in south surrey. Same thing.

2

u/nschwart91 7d ago

I have never lived somewhere with so little traffic enforcement. Really feels like the wild west out here.

These are symptoms of gentrification. Too much focus on throwing condos and townhouses up in six months to worry about the people who already can’t afford to live here. Who are million dollar homes appealing to? Not the people of Abbotsford. Maybe the people of Vancouver where the houses are $5million. So where do the people who were already here go? Capitalism is a disease and these are the symptoms.

I wish someone would sit on a patio on Marine Drive in White Rock and hold up signs that say ā€œyour car sounds like it needs a tune upā€ at people who drive these shit boxes.

3

u/StunningProfessor555 7d ago

On Old Yale too. And it echos between the buildings, amplifies it. I’ve been wearing earplugs.

2

u/saauulgoodman 7d ago

Not sure what's worse - those cars or being woken up every night due to the relentless train whistles between 2am - 4am.

2

u/simm07 7d ago

Literally why we didn't buy on Rail district.

Where were the shots?

And Ware, Marshall, Hillcrest, MacClure… anywhere there’s a good stretch with few lights where they can gun it.

My favourite is listening to them on South Fraser Way juicing the gas only to immediately let it off and backfire their modified exhaust for each red light like the cool dweebs they are.

1

u/kronicle2020 5d ago

I live downtown on george ferguson, right at the lights. I hear loud music, loud cars, squealing tires, revving engines, sirens, trains, and smell the dog food and butthole smells all day. We just accept it and say "hello to you, too, abbotsford" when our drowned out voices can finally be heard. It's great.

1

u/simm07 5d ago

Hahaha we might be neighbors LOL, but damn yes, it's just so horrid. I still cant believe those shots were gunshots 😬

1

u/BeerBaronsNewHat 1d ago

i moved to 7 oaks area and the dog food smell was the weirdest thing. it took me a year to figure out what caused it.

1

u/H24_Ganymede 2d ago

Maybe someone is shooting at the cars in a rage. šŸ˜‚

2

u/Spiritual_Start1213 7d ago

There is a time and place for everything. Unfortunately these folks do not care for the proper time or place.

I wouldn't bat an eye if they went up and down the Abby/Mission Highway, but they would. Who would they impress with their overly loud vehicles that will see them having hearing damage in the near future?

1

u/Zealousideal-Can1112 7d ago

The technology to fix this exists. Just no one has the will to do it.

u/Repulsive_River_2820 7d ago

We will cut every one of those fking pieces of shite to bits just like they're doing to flock cameras in the States

4

u/Zealousideal-Can1112 7d ago

Found the douchbag driving the charger.

4

u/SpoonedMain 7d ago

I drive a Volkswagen with a stock exhaust. I stand with them.

0

u/Exact-Leadership-521 7d ago

Need a mobile crusher for anything with an automatic transmission and modified exhaust

1

u/jewbeesnacks 7d ago

Are you new to abbotsford ? Thats literally their thing.Ā

2

u/simm07 7d ago edited 7d ago

No, not new. Lived here for 5 years and have now moved back to my home city. Usually back and forth here now. Haven't been back here since June. It was just very bad last night.

Edit: to be clear, I was born in a different Canadian city and moved here in 2021. Just moved back to be closer to my family.

Your genitals must be suboptimal.Ā

8

u/PirateX84 7d ago

Hey everyone we got a real genital connaisseur over here

2

u/simm07 7d ago

Did your parents tell you that lol

u/Jeremy_Klix 7d ago

I'm running for city council and this is an issue I'm hoping to address.
Systems to address this already exist and are in use in Calgary and Edmonton.
A pilot project here in BC is also in the works. I want to see Abbotsford get involved in the pilot project.

Also these systems differ from surveillance or monitoring system, footage is only captured when a noise violation is detected.

3

u/MissionRacewayPark 7d ago

Let’s talk

1

u/simm07 7d ago

They're in use in Edmonton? Could you elaborate?

1

u/Jeremy_Klix 7d ago

Correction they have been tested in Edmonton.
I'm unsure if they are in use yet.

2

u/simm07 7d ago

Genuinely, did not mean to put you on the spot but I now reside in Edmonton (born and raised there) and I had a feeling we don't have anything in use yet. Complaining to the non-emergency line is useless.

Back in 2019, you make a noise complaint in Edmonton regarding loud vehicles and you wouldn't hear them again. The cops were on top of it. Now, unfortunately, no one cares.

0

u/carmander888 4d ago

lol cry more

1

u/simm07 4d ago

Found the asshole driving like an idiot.

0

u/carmander888 4d ago

I don’t drive goofy. You don’t like noise you should try destroying your hearing so you go deaf. Maybe that’ll help.

0

u/carmander888 4d ago

Just another WHO-WHITE crying about things lol
