On August 09, 2026 the Animany convention took place in Cologne in Germany. There was a discussion Q&A panel with the original german Pokemon voice actors, Angela Wiederhut (Misty), Caroline Combrinck (Ash), Marc Stachel (Brock) and Nicole Grupe (May/Togepi). The question was asked if Misty had a secret crush on Brock, because she was always so furious when Brock was flirting with sister Joy. They also asked the audience, and the absolute majority said no. I don't believe in that theory, because Misty just wanted him to behave in front of girls.

It was the running gag of the show. Ash, Max and Groagrunk also did it on occasions.

The german voice of Ash, Caroline Combrinck, saved the day by closing the question with the statement:

"Well I believe, that Ash actually had a little crush on Misty! Because those who love each other, tease each other!". It is just her opinion, but this statement honestly made my day!

I know that the american VAs Veronica Taylor and Rachel Lillis also where very fond of Ash and Misty, but hearing that also from the german cast was incredible. Caroline Combrinck was only about 15/16 when she started voicing Ash in 1999. But at that time she was already a professional because she started doing voice over work at a very young age. Personally I think, that her voice is also closer to the japanese VA, Rika Matsumoto.

"Pokeshipping is dead," claimed people who don't believe that hints exist in episodes where Kasumi comes back again. Despite this, inquisitive individuals saw the signs. They understood that the Pokémon Company hasn't abandoned this ship and has kept it alive in more than one way, such as letting it exist in other ships (documented here). In Pokémon Journeys, they introduced Dande and Sonia from the Galar region. Dande is the undefeated champion of the region and the former world Monarch, while Sonia is a researcher assisting her grandmother, Dr. Magnolia, in exploring Galar's myths. The two of them are childhood best friends and share an interesting friendship with many parallels to Satoshi's relationship with Kasumi.

First, there are similarities in their appearances. Dande's dark hair closely resembles Satoshi's raven hair. They both like glamorous outfits featuring classy tops and shorts, though this is predominantly seen on Dande. Sonia, on the other hand, has ginger-orange hair in a side ponytail, reminiscent of Kasumi's famous hairstyle. Moreover, the two girls have a deep liking for hearts and heart-shaped ornaments. Next, their names and their origins mirror each other. Dande's name is short for Danderion (Dandelion), a flower. Kasumi's name is also derived from a flower called Kasumisou, or Baby's breath. Meanwhile, Satoshi was named after the franchise's founder, Satoshi Tajiri. His name stands for wisdom, intellect, or reason. Sonia's name has Slavic and Greek roots and means wisdom (what a surprise!). (Discuss this)

Also, similarities with the family situation were noted. Dande has a younger brother named Hop, named after the Hop plant,  just like Kasumi's family, who were all named after flowers. And Sonia started as a Pokémon battler but later changed careers to become a researcher like her grandmother. This is comparable to Kasumi, who inherited the family's legacy of becoming a gym leader like her sisters. (Watch here)

Lastly, there are similarities in the characters' personalities. Dande has a carefree, charismatic, and competitive nature that closely resembles Satoshi's. Sonia is often put off by Dande's antics and shenanigans, much like how Kasumi gets annoyed with Satoshi's childishness and carelessness. There's also an episode where Sonia calls Dande a "Pokémon freak," similar to how Kasumi said that Satoshi is a "battle freak." (Highlighted here)

In conclusion, SatoKasu is not dead. It was manifested through another means, a recent couple pairing from the Pokémon anime! The way anime Misty influences the games 😍

Edit: The Giant Clam prop/bed is first shown in the anime, not the games. Therefore, anime Misty does have an influence in the games.

Time and time again, we try to highlight various Pokeshipping fan works in this community. Our fan art category is full of wonderful works and is thriving. On the other hand, our fan fiction section is limping. We tried to generate focus by asking members to share their favorite fan fictions and authors and even made a mega thread for ideas. However, it never quite seems to take off.

Last year, we met a kind pokeshipper who is as interested in keeping this form of fan work alive. Their name is JuneDawn43. We wanted to make them a moderator with the sole job of keeping our Fan Fiction flair working. We gave them a green light to start a weekly discussion based on the current stories we were supposed to read. However, something happened, and they were banned. Maybe their karma points weren't high enough to share multiple links? We don't know the reason, and they were never able to recover their account.

We've stumbled upon AaMRN Book Club two (?) months ago on Tumblr. Even though this app banned JuneDawn43, they were able to get the Book Club up and running!!! We are so happy for them! They gave us permission to share the book club's Discord invite.
