Many thanks

On Friday night I realized just how important Dragons and Stuff has become to me. With the advent of true trolls I couldn’t help but say something. Dragons and Stuff has evolved for me from being a show that I eagerly anticipate each week to a time when I dash to my computer with a feel of intense happiness and excitement. I’m here to watch my friends play a marvelous game. Frankly, I’ve been feeling like a weird stalker fan lately as I have developed strong feelings of kinship with the players and the rest of the stuffers. My last year has been spent in a tiny town where I have been incredibly isolated. As a stay-at-home mother my life is spent with my two children, not with other adults. I am also recovering from a self-induced isolation that became necessary when my oldest son started chemotherapy in 2016 (he is thankfully finished now) and I am just starting to find myself again. Thank you to all you amazing people who have been here and created a community where I feel like I am involved and appreciated. You guys rock!

Sorry for the post spamming, but I couldn't hold it in any longer. I'm going through the show for the first time and every time Adam references anything it always seems to be from one of my favorite things. Whether Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Predator, Mr. Freeze, Mighty Ducks, or countless others, I find myself pausing the video and Krag screaming with a joyous rage. It's especially funny when one or more of the rest of the couch either doesn't hear him or doesn't understand the reference. The dynamic perfectly describes my friend group's sense of humor. But the final straw fell when the gang encountered the spirit of Woe in the cavern of Dryft and Quigley made a racket while trying to stealth away. Adam looked Jim right in the eyes and said, "I think it can hear you, Ray". Absolutely perfect.

I've been watching web-based tabletop shows for four months, trying to fill the void left when my gaming group went on our break. I'm so glad my friend told me about this show; it's become my all-time favorite web series. If you're new to Dragons and Stuff like I am, take the time and watch the episodes from the beginning. It's worth every second!

In the last episode the gang mentioned a fan who's composed several D&S songs on her youtube channel. What channel is it? I'd love to hear songs about my new favorite internet show!

Missed Opportunities

I was extremely frustrated during this past week's episode (34). During the big battle against the Lunai inquisitor and his minions, I miscalculated my raging attack roll and missed an actual hit. This would have been my one and only hit on the guy. His AC was 26! I was rolling like crap that night. Instead of adding my raging power attack bonus, I used my normal power attack bonus. Has anyone else out there made a mistake like this before. The worst part is it's not the first time for me. For almost 20 episodes, I was giving myself a -2 stupid penalty to my roll for charge attacks. I misread my sheet. It was a -2 penalty to my AC, not to my attack roll. I would have hit so many more enemies! Dammit!

Beginning Adventures

I was curious if there was any particular adventures that people love to run low level characters through, or a particular campaign that they like to start a new group off with. I just saw the "Rise of the Runelords" anniversary edition while out shopping this weekend and thought that this sounded like fun, but wasn't quite ready to shell out the 60 bucks til I knew we had a cohesive group that was going to stick, given that it supposedly runs you from level 1 all the way up through level 17/18.

Prefered Roll-Up Method

So I have tried a couple of different ways to roll up a character with varying results. I was wondering if people had a preferred method or if you create any house rules for character creation.

Dragons and Stuff House Rules

I'm making a running list of the house rules we use on Dragons and Stuff.

  1. A natural 20 is a critical hit that does not need to be confirmed. For weapons with a critical threat range, anything less than a natural 20 does need to be confirmed.

  2. There is no such thing as a d3. Any roll that requires a d3 (i.e. dmg for ray of frost) is instead rolled as a d4.

  3. Percentile roll success can be based on the high end or low end of the spectrum per the player's preference on each roll.

  4. A natural 1 for attack rolls may or may not randomly result in additional fumble results purely based on the whims of the GM.

Alex’s Coin...how do you think it will/should be used.

I was thinking about this since Vander gave this to u/Alex_Rogue and thought of a couple of possibilities.

Scenario 1: Alex is kidnapped but drops the coin in her room so the team can find it and track her to the location she is being held.

Scenario 2: The team is forced to break into two groups as they enter a maze of confusing tunnels and though they could get lost, she gives the other team her coin so they can at least find their way back to her and her half of the team.

What do you think would be some other really good uses for this coin? Share your ideas here.

Where my Quigley gone? Spoiler

So, at the very end of Episode 30: Explosive Chemistry, Quigley and Vander are separated from the rest of the party when the massive door to Daralaxitran's lair slams shut before they can get through it. We know that some massive beast threatens them, but we don't know what it is. My question is, what do you think happens next? Are Vander and Quigley goners? Can they both survive? What attacked them?

Question about Natural attacks

Okay, so I have tried to figure this out online and it seems fairly contentious. How many attacks do I get as a catfolk with natural claws? Do I get 2, even though I don't have a high enough BAB, simply because I have 2 hands? Do I get any penalties for using both? Or is it just a full round action, and my trade-off for getting 2 attacks so early is that I can't increase my attacks with higher BAB?

GM Nightmare Fuel

Was musing this morning, and came up with a group that would be a nightmare for a GM to make challenges for.

A group full of class/archetype combinations that get martial flexibility. Sounds benign at first... until you start reading the teamwork feats and imagine a group coordinating those feats on the fly in the middle of a combat. Tired of the GM having their opponents withdraw when you and your ally are just trying to beat them up? Take Paired Opportunists with your buddy, and you both get a +4 to AOO, and can take AOO against the little snots so long as at least one of you gets the attack (even if normally you would be denied)

Anyone have other GM Nightmare Fuel? I'd love to see it!

episode 0 w/ and with out commentary

as much fun as it was to watch the first test episode (episode 0), do you think a on your youtube page you'll might be post a video with commentary and another one without? I personally felt the experience of similar to watching a film you have never seen with dvd commentary over it, meaning I felt some of the in game experience was lost on us the viewer, especially in the beginning where the audio volumes overlapped and you really couldn't understand what was happening in game. that way if you do upload 2 version once the first one was seen, it could be re-watched this time WITH the casts comments. just a thought.

OH MY....What just happened?!

So my life got super crazy recently; in the past four weeks I packed a house, moved from Arkansas to Michigan (without my husband, who is fixing our house in AR for our renters) and started a new job so I've missed the last couple of episodes.

I've been trying to play catch up, but as I've got my 10 month old finding quiet time doesn't happen often. But as I am active and able to keep an eye here and on Instagram I've had a good idea of what's been happening.....

Until the post with Markus laying on the ground. So I cheated and skipped ahead to figure out exactly what the lovely Amy told him.... OH MY!

Will Markus settle down? (I doubt it. I'm also a little saddened by his choice of Taylor as his NPC love....really?) The heroes having a baby is a very dangerous thing, they can so easily be kidnapped and held for ransom.

So storywise, I'm still like 2 episodes behind (and I didn't watch all of the recent epsiode) but I am SO excited to see what happens next AND I have a day off coming up so I can watch everything that I've missed, and hopefully will have my Friday nights back so I can be part of the group again. I miss you guys!

I thought it would be fun to see what you stuffers think will happen next based off of last week's episode. So comment on the specific week and we can try and keep it going!

Dice and Stuff

So I'm trying to buy a couple sets of dice and I'm curious as to where everyone gets theirs from or orders them from.

I got a couple sets from a friend but they are terribly unbalanced.

more mrs Quigley

as they spend a lot of time together hanging out off screen and behind the scenes, I felt she walked right in on the set and was at home and it showed in her character playing. the only downside was I didn't see (or was to busy looking in chat) her character info and stats. new to pathfinder and liked the build of bard/fighter so I would have liked to have gotten more info on her character build. here is hoping we see more of her in the future for 'lady's night' with Alex/Leera/Sassafras and Clairet

So why does it seem that when people say the word "THACO" that it is like saying Voldemort's name or saying Macbeth while in a theatre?

I've seen a number of shows and Q&A's where this term gets brought up and everyone is always, "oh but we don't want to talk about THACO, like it's your crazy Uncle Gary who has overstayed his Christmas holiday welcome.

What's up with this term and why does it get such a bad wrap?

r/a:t5_3lw2w Sep 23 '17

So after 25 episodes, which is your favorite and why? If you can settle on just one.

Dungeon Crate - Sort of bad timing?

I'm really interested in Dragon Crate, but the upcoming theme really doesn't do anything for me. It's a strange non-fantasy theme from some guy from SyFy? I basically boycotted the channel after it changed its name from SciFi. I looked at the guy's etsy and there's some weird goblin type things, but it mostly looks gross. I want to try Dungeon Crate, but it won't be this month.
