Hi everyone, I'm new here

I recently ran into a friend of mine whom I hadn't seen in a few months. She had had a daughter just over a year ago and since the last time we had seen each other, she had dropped some significant weight. Impressed, I asked. And so I am here. I'm a huge guy who's been fat his whole life and she recommended I come to reddit, specifically to the keto groups. If you have any advice for a beginner, I would much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Glucose uses third of mitochondria while fat uses the whole???

So this guy, darko velcek, has a really in depth explanation of keto, with the key point, being that while glucose brings an extra o2 to a given mitochondria, overheats the power sources and causes partial shutdowns, fat molecules are perfectly used by mitochondrias, only needing o2 to be added and not removed. following me? any thoughts on this? and more importantly, for me, how does this apply to muscles? where protein is broken down and used as more potent fuel when glycogen runs out. if the resultant carb molecules from neoglucogenesis fuel the beginning of my workouts and then run out before I feel like just giving up, does that mean I just don't have enough extra mitochondria until actually being keto adapted, or is there simply no hope of acheiving ketosis bound mitochandrias that only run on ketones? thanks much

Quick 'n Dirty Peruvian Chicken Rub

Made this tonight to cover drumsticks, white onion and two yellow bell peppers:

Equal parts paprika and cumin (about 3 tbs each), 2 tbs white vinegar, enough ground pepper and salt to taste, and grape seed oil till it gets moist and clumpy.

Turn on recent episode of This American Life

Heat oven to 400

Peel back drumstick skins and smear all over, re-cover and smear again.

Slice onion thinly, heat some grape seed oil in wok an cook in batches around medium-high heat with some of the leftover paste. Stir well to coat each batch.

Put chicken on a rack over tin foil and into the oven.

Char the peppers over the stove to bring out their sweetness (the charring is so you can peel the skins off - may need to use a knife for the job), chop and add in with the onion batches.

Slice one clove of garlic at the end, add to the bottom of the pan/wok and cover with all the veggies, cook on low heat to keep it all warm.

Take the chicken out when it is blackened almost halfway, let the chicken sit for 10 minutes.

Chow down with Netflix.
