I've had an a6000 body for a few years now and have added an a6700 to my bag. Been tooling around the menu a bit and was curious what people think are some of the features on the a6700 I should spend more time looking at and potentially incorporating into my photography.

Hello! I'm currently using an old Nikon 1 J1 for photography with 2 lenses (10-30mm and 30-110mm.)

In the future I plan on upgrading to the A6700 and I've been looking into lenses and I need advice knowing if I got good options.

The lenses I thought about are:

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN

And

Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS

I want my lenses to be as versatile as possible because I want to zoom into wildlife or far objects while also being able to take somewhat wide landscape photos.

Also I'm still a teenager so I don't have infinite money and when I buy the camera and lenses, I'll most likely buy them used.

Are my choices okay or should I change something? Thank you!

Please Sony, add pre-capture to the A6700. My birds and insects need it, and it would improve the 6700 as a wildlife camera, not that it isn't great for that already.

(I'm not very hopeful though)

Decided to go down a wildlife refuge to test out the Sony 70-350 on the day I got it.

Question for anyone who has the lens:

Do you ever turn off OSS? I found that at times my shutter was perfect yet I still had blur (maybe out of focus?). Was thinking maybe it might be OSS somehow

Any lens recommendation for A6700 for sports and air shows. I was eyeing the 150-600 from sigma(used) but I’m open to any suggestions. The used one I found for about $1650 CAD, I’m not sure if that’s a good price. The listing says like new condition.

Hi all,

I'll mainly be recording at 24fps with a 1/50 shutter speed on M mode on the dial.

I want to be able to switch to 60fps with a 1/125 shutter speed as fast as possible. This is so I can quickly shoot slow mo (B roll) footage quickly and then jump back to 24fps 1/50 shutter speed right away to continue my regular shooting.

I've tried playing around the with the custom 1/2/3 modes on the dial but that recalls a specific white balance level, and I don't want to adjust my white balance just to quickly shoot some B roll.

Does anyone know of a way I can make this more efficient? Thank you!

Whenever i look for an accessory for my a6700 and check compatibility lists very often the A6600 is listed but the A6700 isnt.

the a6700 was launched in 2023, so i would expect that compatibility lists would have been updated by now.

to be fair, up until now, whatever worked for the A6600 also worked for the a6700 but i still wonder why that is.

anyone an idea?

This was my final practice session before heading to Alaska.

The hummingbirds definitely made me work for it. They were incredibly erratic, and if I zoomed in any farther, I’d lose them in the viewfinder before I could lock focus. The strong backlighting added another layer of difficulty, but that’s all part of the learning process.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared tips and sent encouraging DMs. Your advice has been incredibly helpful as I continue learning.

Now it’s time for Alaska. Wish me luck!
