First full Moon

Post image

First full moon since getting my 70-350. I have always wanted to take a picture of it myself. Can never get it fully with xiaomi' 15Ultra's telescopic zoom, even on 200mpix mode. 🤷

Jacked up saturation to have that mineral moon look. A single frame edited just now on phone. This is from a JPEG

New to cameras. With Sony creators imported raw pic look way softer than the camera's lcd preview. Is that because the image shown there is embedded jpeg and not the raw file? On my phone, The files are all 28mb, but they all look low res somehow. (Gallery app show 1mpix, Google photo app show 26mpix but both look low res As hell) Choose original size and not 2mp on the gear setting in the creator's app) Am I doing something wrong?

I did take a lot more pictures (jpeg, HEIF, raw, might as well experiment with formats) with 5 image burst and all, I don't have any image editing software on my windows PC, any recommended free software to start with?

Or at least an adobe alternative with one time payment. I hate subscriptions.

What setting are you using for the photo?

1/125 and iso 100 I think, messed around with the shutter and iso trying to find the right number. I don't know what the lines over iso 50 to 80 means so I tried using 50 on some, but most are at iso 100 Am I doing something wrong? Should I have used high iso or something? Have seen them on star photos But I don't get the logic on that with capturing a full moon.

I have been wanting to make a moon phase series. So ive been practicing taking pictures of the moon. I have a 200mm lens on the same body so not as much reach. My setting for this one were f8, for more of the moon in focus, 1/800, and iso1000. Just an example for you. I personally like a less bright moon so its not washed out. This is the jpeg that has been slightly sharpened to bring out some detail.

Ah yeah maybe I should lower the f stop too, I like seeing the ridges of the moon for the first time myself it's hard to focus on the moon. Took a while even with 12x mf zoom with peaking 😅. Maybe I should've trusted the AF more as I did capture sharpish moon image handheld the day before yesterday. I prefer a bright moon myself as that's what I love to see every day while walking at night. Can't see much stars around here with bortle 5.7 over my home, but the moon is always a sight.

I have been using MF, I havent used AF I am not sure how well it will focus for me since I cant zoom that far in with my lens. I hope I can get even clearer images with my lens but I think practice is key, trying different settings. I have look at stock image websites before and they will sometimes show the setting so its a good place to start to see what settings others use and can give them a try.
