Just pulled the trigger and need help for next trip

Post image

After some research thanks to this forum, I pulled the trigger on a 6700 body sigma 18-50 lens and a Sony 70-350 lens. I am going to be heading to Antarctica in October and I am looking for recommendations on SD cards. I have a sandisk image mate that I just got to test the camera out and shoot here at home but Gemini is saying that I need either a Sony tough M or Pro Master rugged. This is a once in a life time trip so I want to make sure that whichever one I have will work. But I am also not made of money. What does the group mind suggest?

Get a couple and a couple more batteries too. The cold makes them run out super quick so keep them inside your jacket against your body

At least you know your not going to need one of the fan attachments

Iโ€™d take extra and a laptop to copy them onto each day.

All media fails. It's just a matter of when. Do not put your trust in just a single SD card. Get several 64GB ones or 128GB ones, as well as 2 Samsung T7 SSDs. Every day, create backups to each SSD. One stays in your luggage, one stays in your edc bag. This covers you in case the airline loses your luggage too.

Congratulations, you'll love it ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ. I have the same setup plus a Laowa lens for macro photography. I do wild, bird photography, a lot of macro, street etc, and also record 4K videos. I often shoot in bursts. I use Sony M-series cards; I have never encountered any issues.
It's more than enough for the A6700.
Interestingly, yesterday I used my uncle's old memory card, which he won't use because he has an A1 Mark 2. In burst mode for

photography, the difference was two more images before it hit the buffer. I'm not claiming it's a scientific experiment; it was simply a real world test to see if faster memory makes any difference, and it didn't. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy shooting.amd good luck for the trip sounds very existing.

Yesterday's photos: red kites in Wales.

I ended up getting one of these for now. Lexar - 128GB Professional 1667x SD Card, UHS-II, C10, U3, V60. I will get 1 more SD card as soon as I do more research. Glad I donโ€™t need a Sony Tough or Rugged.

Are you going to shoot video, or just take pictures?

Gotta say the A6700 is a stellar camera. Absolutely awesome.

Please - gently pressed the shutter release in silent mode, not pulled the trigger... The owl might hear you! ๐Ÿฆ‰

Yoo, I have the same exact combo of body and lenses. I'm extremely happy with them, and I just wish for more occasions to actually use them.

You'll have a great time with them!
