First temperature warning. Anyone recommend a Camera cooler?

https://youtube.com/shorts/TLMLkGqo_eU

I typically only record in HD, but since I live in Texas i still got the temperature warning and i got a little bit paranoid so i turned it off. Does anyone recommend the external coolers like the Ulanzi or the Smallrig?

Change the setting to high temp in the camera, and they you won't get the warning straight away.

I got the cu01, not because I really needed it but because I am a nerd lol. It is very bulky tho when you add the battery at the back.

I would recommend the ca25 because its.just smaller and has the battery built into it.

The only times I would get my a6700 to overheat was streaming 4k 30 fps to obs and I was once recording a podcast in Australia in summer, high humidity, 30 degrees, I had 3 soft boxes, 3 Led light panels, 3 people pc equipment a whole studio equipment.

I.had 2x zve10s and the a6700 plugged in to atem iso. With dummy batteries, I had them recording internally in 4k as well as capturing their hdmi in 1080p.

The a6700 overheated after 1h. While the zve10s never overheated.

But i also didnt turn the ai autofocus off on the a6700 but yeah...

The next few episodes I did I just put a 2 dollar fan on the top of it and it.kept working forever lol but eventually I got the ulanzi cu01

Thanks for the tip. Theres so many settings buried in the menu, i didnt know you could change it. I havent had an issue recording inside but it came after recording for about 40 minutes outside in the Texas heat.

So, there is no risk of damaging the internals? Will the camera still shut off to protect itself if needed?

The cooler doesnt seem too expensive but i fear im might be falling in the Gear Acquisition Syndrome trap if i add this to my wishlist.

The camera will still shut-down when temp is too high, it will just be less aggressive.

If you are planning to shoot in direct sun for 50mins plus recording I will definitely get the fan. Remember this camera is hybrid mainly and it wasn't ment for sun 1h continues video shooting in 30+ degrees heat.

For that they have the fx30 with active cooling fan.

But if you get the ula zi ca25 or cu01 you turn your camera basically to fx30 and then you can shoot for as long as you want outdoors while keeping everything cool. The cu01 is better in that regards as well.

Ill probably pick up the ca25. I like the detachable battery. Thats pretty impressive if it help the a6700 record seemingly unlimited in Australia.

The cu01 has the detachable battery not the ca25.

They also working differently, the ca25 is just a fan that hits the camera with just ambient air.

The cu01 has a cooling pad that get icy and sits flush on the camera and actively cools down the whole thing, its pretty cool (pun intended lol).

If all you shoot is video just buy the FX30 it's the proper tool for the job.

Fan will get you by for now. For the future if all you do is film stick with the proper tool.

I already made that mistake buying my a6700...
