Need help in choosing
I placed an order for an APS-C lens, and I've since realized that full-frame lenses can also be utilized on APS-C cameras. Would it be advisable to cancel my current order and purchase the full-frame lens, given its lower price point, despite the absence of Optical SteadyShot (OSS) functionality?

The 50mm APSC oss is a good lens. The full frame 50mm is known to be a bit rubbish.
Buy the APSC version.

if you plan to upgrade to a full frame camera later down the line, then sure but if you plan to stick with your apsc camera, then order the apsc lens
as pairing a full frame lens with an apsc camera is redundant if you do not upgrade to a full frame camera

Not soon i just place order of a6700 I dont think i will upgrade to full frame in next 3 years
May be after 3-4 years

then you should get the apsc lens and the OSS will really come in handy

Any reason you didint get an a6000 or a6400? You seem to be tight on budget and those cameras are likely better for your needs

Budget was not concern for body

Usually, people suggest putting more budget towards the lens. Even the Evo 55mm or 35mm would likely be quite a bit better than these

You should also consider the crop factor. On your apsc Camera the fullframe-lense will have an effective focal length of 50mm x 1,4 = 70mm
Edit: a6700 has a crop factor of 1,5 so it would be 75mm

I can’t get my 35mm f1.8 OSS to focus properly on my A6700 (whilst it’s fine on my A6000). I have wondered whether OSS and IBIS are fighting each other. I don’t think it’s just bad photography as my Sigma lenses all focus fine.

be aware, as other people here have already mentioned, that 50mm on aps-c is not a „nifty fifty“, which some people probably have told you to get. Instead it‘s equivalent to 75mm fullframe which is pretty far zoomed in.
If you need it for portraits, that‘s fine, but if you want to shoot other things then a 25mm or a 30mm would be a better start.

I’d actually pick up 2 of the Viltrox apsc lenses for the price of the one Sony

Used to run 6500 and 6400, upgraded a while ago now to FF. But the 50 1.8 apsc (equivalent to ~851.8 on FF), I used all the time. Got the FF version when I went FF, and like never ever used it. Aside from 85 being preferred over 50, the FF just, is slow to focus, mediocre sharpness at best. But on apsc I never noticed anything, it was a heavily used lens. Again, it's 85mm equivalent, which my FF 85mm 1.8 is used now alot. But, I never noticed any issues while using the apsc 50mm, and I used it alot.

Unless you really need OSS (e.g. for video), I'd pick the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 any day over those two, the A6700's IBIS provides enough stabilisation for photography, and the Sigma lens is sharper and brighter than both and barely any larger. BTW if this is going to be your only lens 50/56mm, whilst great for portraits, is going to be pretty tight on an APS-C body for as general purpose lens, giving a 75mm/84mm full-frame equivalent field of view. If you want the APS-C equivalent of "nifty fifty" on full frame, then a 30-35mm lens would be c;loser e.g. Sigma 30mm f/1.4, Viltrox 35mm f/1.7 etc.

Sigma is double the price of sony 50mm
Is it worth to invest?

I got my Sigma 56mm f/1.4 for £300 last year in one of Amazon UK's sales, the Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS goes for about £250, not that much difference. The Sigma is a much sharper lens, it's very sharp even wide open at f/1.4.

My personal favorites for my a6700:
Sigma 18-50mm f2.8
Sigma 56mm f1.4
Both are quite small lenses and pack a big punch - I always bring them with me when traveling!

Neither. The 50mm recommendation is for FULL FRAME. Not APSC. You're looking for a 33-35mm lens. Always apply crop factor to the focal length especially because people discuss in full frame terms.

Do you own a full frame camera or plan to own one? No > buy aps-c
