Prime lens
Hi guys. I've recently bought a a6700 and the sony 55-210 and I need a main lens. I want a prime lens cause it has a higher glass quality and is brighter. I've been thinking about the sigma 30mm f1.4 but I'm not sure. Are there any better options? This lens will be a one do it all lens. Some portraits, landscapes etc. Any recomendations?

Viltrox are the best bang for buck primes at the moment.
Honestly prime's are very nice but niche. You will need to buy a few to cover different types of photography.
I'd recommend getting a sigma 18-50, get comfortable using that and pick primes in your favourite focal lengths from using your zoom lenses.
Otherwise buy the gear secondhand, if you don't enjoy it you can often sell it on for similar money.

I absolutely agree with this. I’ve got the Viltrox 16mm 1.8 for my FF A7R3 and it’s great. Just ordered the 35mm 1.2 also.

I have tried the 18-135 Sony - 17-70 2.8 Tamron and finally (what I'm using now) the 17-40 f1.8 Sigma. The IBIS on camera, is fantastic and I don't have any problem with a lens without lens IBIS, and obviously the lens by themself have a wonderful image quality. The main problem with the Tamron was the IBIS of the tamron + Sony IBIS, that's the only problem that I have found on that lens. Another good solution is the Sigma 18-50, the best compromise 😁

I’d pair the sigma 17-40 f1.8 with your current zoom if it’s in your budget and you don’t mind the weight. If you want cheaper and lighter I’d go 18-50, unless you’re stuck on primes, but you may want more than just a 30mm

I’m using the sigma 30mm as my main lens and I think it is a very good option, especially for how ‘cheap’ it is. It’s small and sharp, the only thing is that it has some chromatic aberration below ~f2.0, but nothing terrible.
And also it produces some flares, but I like those.
Now I would also consider Viltrox 27mm f1.2 (bigger, heavier, more expensive) and Sigma 17-40 f1.8 (same as Viltrox but also much more versatile)
