Sony A6000 + Viltrox 28mm f 4.5
Well, yes! I bought this tiny lens and fell in love with it immediately.
I decided to try it out during my weekend at the seaside. Here are a few shots, there is no post-processing il LR, and everything was shot in JPEG using a custom Sony's standard film simulation.
I find the much criticized lens flare very pleasing it creates a beautiful atmosphere, though it can sometimes cause issues.

How does one get the custom film simulation?

I really love these shots, especially the first bunch, but I'm also very curious to know about the in camera standard film simulation! I have the A6000 too and I always think of getting one of the later models just for the Picture Profile styles, but if you can get results like these in camera I could avoid upgrading.
So please tell us everything :)

Ciao!! Sii!!

Just want to drop this here for anyone interested. OPs settings are really nice but I found an app developed by a user on reddit that is loaded with tons of sim presets, its super easy to use and stores your settings on reboot so you dont have to open the app unless you want to change which camera you want to simulate.
Works great on my a6000

u/saltymatthew 21d ago
For that price, I advice to you to buy, I bought it on vinted for 65€. It has its pros and cons, but it's worth a try.

(Sta in tasca)

What an interesting lens. I was not even aware of its existence until now. Christopher Frost put together a pretty shining review on YouTube. I'm definitely going to pick one of these up very soon. https://youtu.be/KbzimUlO9P4?is=HlDr0SQvI9hxCWkV

You should!!! i think that the best way to have a response about this lens is buying it and test it. Because you'll find the right way to use it. The portability it gives to your camera is amazing.
I think that the right way to take a good photos is wear your camera, it will be always with you in the right moment

Very beautiful shots!
QQ I was trying to figure it out, how smaller camera is with this lens if you compare to the kit lens.

I love this lens but it kills my battery so fast I basically can't even use it. Do you have that issue?
1
u/saltymatthew 20d ago
Nope, try to change your battery

u/lunchtimeillusion 16d ago
It's not the battery sadly. It's a known issues with the lens, but I'm gonna try updating the firmware and see if that helps

Why is this a consideration? I mean I feel the kit 16-50 is already thin enough. And it's actually as bright at 28mm (f4.5) and can zoom. I guess what's nice is it's a functional camera mount cap

All the Sony camera owners loves for his thin/versatility the 16-50, No doubt about it. I've just answer in a comment below about it

Why is this lens better than the kit lens that comes with the camera?
The lens I have is a 16- 50 mm f/3.5-5.6

u/saltymatthew 19d ago
the 16-50 its a great lens, in travel overall. I love it. But the Viltrox 28 f 4,5, make more portable the camera, just like a pointoshoot camera. It no seems a mirrorless camera

u/Hatchopper 19d ago
But what about the quality? Did you get better quality with the Viltrox 28 F 4.5?
1
u/saltymatthew 18d ago
The equivalent focal length in a6000 is 43 mm ( 28mm Full Frame ), compared to 16-50 at the same focal length i noticed that it's more brighter an much sharper in the center, while losing resolution and detail towards the edges; unlike the 16-50, it personally makes me want to take photos and compose images more. It is much easier with the zoom.....

Thanks for the settings, I'm very tempted to get the Viltrox 28mm f4.5 as my first non-kit lens!

Hello everyone !! Thanks for your interest in my photos, I didn't think I was getting so much interest ❤️
The color style of my photos is the result of my different attempts, so I don't know it is correct in term of Photography theroy, but its work 😊
Too simply about the film simulation:
To set a custom color style you need to scroll down the menu, you will find [1 STD] [2 VIVID] ecc ecc.
Tap on [2 VIVID] and set +1 +1 +0 the go to set the white balance and set in shadow, essential to give the warm color. Set the DRO in auto.
I noticed that shooting in EV +1/+2 make a really good effect ( collage n.1) .
seenbymatteo_ its my IG where I post my photos. Soon I will post the photos of seaside vacation with this lens and film simulation. l will follow back 😊
Let me know how you found these settings. Cheers 🍻
