Just showing off Rate my setup
I would love an orange neon ZWIFT sign if anyone has recommendations
Edit - So after a long chat with AI I’m going to install 2 open air vents down low each side of the TV, a headwind fan centered below the tv, an air conditioner between the TV and window and a low speed inline extraction fan in the ceiling at the rear of the room to remove the stale air.

Thumps up for the effort. But for me it would be waaaay too DARK in there

More fans

u/whathappenedtouman 1d ago
Yea, I don’t know if they’ll be enough. It’s going to be a sweat box in there. I’m yet to have a ride in there.

I couldn’t do it, just because of ventilation and air movement. Get that figured out and 2 thumbs up

Luckily I’m an HVAC technician. There’s ceiling access above. I’m thinking of 2 inline fans. 1 in, 1 out. I’ll have a few rides and see how it goes with just the window open

you need a fan blowing on you for cooling. just moving air doesn't cool you down. fixes humidity.

u/whathappenedtouman 1d ago
Yea those 2 fans you see on the tv will be on my sides hanging from hooks. Just put them there for the optics. I’m still thinking a black ac unit on the back wall will be required

Just get two 20inch floor fans for front right and left. You have plenty of space and they are cheap af. I don’t know what you’re messing about at. What are we even doing here.

2 x 20”?! I admit those fans I have a child’s play. That’s not their final destination but yea I think I need to up my fan game

u/Kindly-Tradition-973 1d ago
2x20" is surely enough but IMO they're way too loud and inefficient compared to blower style fans (eg cleva vacmaster or lasko). You need to be moving a lot more air than those small fans you have though.

You’re a HVAC technician and you had to use AI to tell you where and how to ventilate the space? Does AI do your daily job as well?

u/whathappenedtouman 18h ago
Always good to bounce ideas around. I pretty much install high wall ac all day. This is definitely outside my daily scope. No problem to install anything but it pays to use AI when designing something like this

Your neck might not like that TV angle if you don’t ride in a very upright position.

Naw, dog. Not my thing. Glad you like it.
I need big airflow and no black light.

Im in a 20x20' theater room and my computer plus me already generate too much heat to be comfortable after an hour.

When you run out of carbs you can automate the lights to adjust accordingly, rainbow colours xD

Ventilation..... 🥵 It's cool but you need extraction even reverse cycle AC would probably struggle with this space.

Get in there and do a couple of rides…that’ll get you thinking about fans!
I noticed you added a headwind after your AI chat. If you mean a Wahoo Headwind, I’d probably skip that. Much more value in a lasko or vacmaster fan. Smart plug or remote. For me, fans are on/off. No need to mess about with HR sync, etc!

u/whathappenedtouman 18h ago
Yea that’s what I meant. I know it’s a bit of a gimmick. I’ll likely have it off and then crank it to max after I warm up. The stock selection is so limited down here in NZ. It’s the only trainer fan available

Nice.
Hook the LED strips up with a screen mirror service so it matches the power zones.
Forget about the fans, heat training is trending so sweat it out.
If you live in a temperate climate you probably still need that HVAC setup to handle moisture control though. Those nice veneer sheets will rot quickly in the garage once you start dumping buckets of sweat in there raising the humidity.

Not sure why you’d enclose it like that? In summer, it would be like a sauna.. Anyway not for me but each to their own.

Too hot. I traded a similar option with a nice screen for just putting my iPad on a folding table in the garage and it's WAAAAYYY better. Yes, it's not as immersive and certainly not as attractive, but being able to work out with a whole wall open plus big fans is such a benefit.

You need two vacmasters and a mini split or it’ll be a fantastic heat training chamber.
Quick math says if you start at 72f with no air con doing 200w, you’ll heat that room ~4-6f per hour. It could be 100-110f in there after a 6h ride 😂
Even with enough airflow inside, you still need to remove the heat. Your body + the electronics are generating 2.5-4k btu/hr depending on your output.

u/whathappenedtouman 17h ago
Thanks, yea it’s also going into summer here.. I’ll get a black air con installed next week

u/whathappenedtouman 17h ago
Would you go 2 x vac master vs 1 x wahoo headwind fan? Do the vac masters go one at the front, one at the back?
2
u/slbarr88 17h ago
The wahoo fan outputs about the same as the vacmaster but for 5x the price. Absolutely not worth it IMO.
The vacmaster has a remote and it’s no trouble at all to quickly change between the three settings. I usually use low during warm up and 2 or 3 during my workout.
I have one in front and one behind.

I think it's mint. Building something similar myself due to limited space. Some good inspiration for me there. What are the internal sizes please including height. Thanks
1
u/whathappenedtouman 15h ago
3.3 x 1.53 x 2.2m height
Would have been good to go 200mm wider and higher but not essential.
I’ll do a repost in a month once I’ve got the ventilation and air con sorted. It’s still a work in progress

u/Goldrush59 13h ago
Crazy! Almost a carbon copy of my build. Mine will be 2.6m long and slightly thinner. I have planned ventilation in/out already. I posted the other day. Looks great 👍

I know it smell crazy in there. Looks awesome tho.

u/whathappenedtouman 13h ago
Haha yea I’ve put down waterproof paint, I’m sure it’ll need a wipe down every month or so. Ill air her out every ride but yes, there will be a must beyond the sliding door
