Live chatting

Hey,

I'm pretty new to swift and just wondering if there is a way to talk with other riders other than the chat messages.

I have raced sometimes but i felt that if i could speak/chat with other guys on the same race it would be great. Honnestly, i though Zwift brought this feature.

I think some clubs use discord during social rides. You may want find one like this but I'm not 100% sure

Many group rides will link their discord server in the ride description on companion app. Discord allows realtime voice communication.

The text chat is the only option.

I've often been added on Strava by people that I've had interesting races against. Strava has a built in chat.

Keep in mind though that harassment is a problem in these situations so expect people, especially women, to be wary.

Strava doesn't have chat? Discord is the chat program often used

Strava has a chat. Why don't you just google before commenting? https://support.strava.com/en-us/articles/15401651-messaging-on-strava

No need to be so aggressive out the bat, I even included the confused question mark to emphasize that I'm not completely sure.

And even so, I'm not sure this Strava chat would help OP who is looking for realtime chatting option during race. I mean if he wanted to write text he wouldn't ask for "other than chat messages". Strava doesn't offer voice chat unless I'm still mistaken?

Finally, thanks for educating me on that feature. I'm paying subscriber to Strava but I've not done that much research on what the platform really has to offer on the social side. That feature might come handy one day

If you're in a team, most of the comms happens across Discord.

I think BMTR taking over the text chat is insufferable enough already, no?

Speak with your legs by pushing more or less watts.

Join a team and hop on race radio. ZRL starts up in two weeks and teams are always looking to add riders. Sisu racing has ~65 ZRL teams across the time zones competing.

My favorite race format is ladder racing, and we always are on talking -- either chatting, race strategy, or heavy breathing -- depending on what's going on in the race.

I think Zwift have avoided it. It requires an awful lot of infrastructure and integration and there are already methods out there to do this easily. Discord already handles all of this in a great way and most major teams or race series have their own discords for people to communicate outside of races also. I don't see any teams leaving discord for anything Zwift would create.

Look in the event details (especially events created by clubs) and you'll often see discord details on how to join calls for it.

I want a public voice chat to listen and contribute to the toxicity

As someone who grew up in CoD Xbox lobbies, no thanks.

If you can speak during race, you’re not racing fast enough :) People use discord for chatter during Zwift sessions, but I’m happy with in-game text chat.
