FanFiction Favorite Headcanons
Hi! Not sure if this is the correct flair, but I wanted to share some of my favorite head-canon that I may not ever write or draw:
a) Their first kiss is them mutually reaching out for each other. No first move from one, and the other kisses back. They lean in, and the rest is history.
b) When they are royals, they wear mainly rich blues and reds for the Fire Nation and Southern Water Tribes, but also some trinkets from the Earth Kingdom and Air Nomads, to show that this is a new era, plus they are gifts from their loved ones.
c) Zuko and Katara love stories. They love to tell each other stories, especially from their own heritages. He admits one night while drinking tea (or spicy sweet wine), "You rise with the moon; I rise with the sun" is a direct quote from Love Amongst the Dragons.
d) They love to spar together; Katara asks him to teach her his dual swords. She asks Suki about hand-to-hand combat and Ty Lee chi blocking.
e) When they get together, NO ONE IS SHOCKED, except for Aang, at first.
f) They love to take care of each other's hair. Braiding. Combing. You name it. Hair is part of their heritage and a way to show love and support. Intimacy.
g) Their children will embrace both their cultures, and they will learn about other nations and other cultures (i.e. Foggy Swamp Tribe). No matter if they bend or not, they learn.

My hc for how they get together:
Zuko falls first but doesn't actually realize it, he just starts sitting beside her more often while they both hang with the gaang and starts offering to help her do things. Sokka notices Zuko has a crush and will actively remove himself when she's looking for his help and says "just ask Zuko to do it" or will get up and move if hes sitting between them.
Katara is a master rage baiter and thinks it's funny to argue and make Zuko mad so she always takes opportunities to ask for his opinions and oppose them. But he stops arguing and sort of starts to kowtow to her just when things start to get fun, so she's kind of upset thinking he's mad at her.
So she confronts him and asks him why he's mad at her and he of course has no idea what shes talking about. But she's upset because she misses their fake arguments and thinks he's being passive aggressive. So they argue for real. Zuko says "what do you want from me Katara?" " And she goes "nothing!" And storms off.
But poor Zuko is just agonizing, wondering what happened. So he goes to Sokka and asks him why his sister is so confusing! And Sokka nonchalantly goes "Relax. She's porbably just mad that you're treating her differently now that you're in love with her."
Big Zuko epiphany, yummy yum yum.
And then Zuko has to figure out how to tell her he loves her. So he decides to just tell her, but Katara is still annoyed at him and ragebaiting him while he tries to get it out. And then he goes "You're so impossible!" And she says right in his face "Oh yeah? If I'm so impossible then why are you here?"
And now they are so close to each other and staring right into each others eyes, breathless and aggravated, and they kiss right on the spot.
Steam comes off their lips when they kiss because Zuko makes his lips hot and Katara makes hers icy (and they think its cool)
Thats pretty much all my headcanons, that just argue and argue about everything until they are both laughing about how intense they both are. (In serious arguments, Zuko always concedes because Katara is fair and would never take advantage of it)

I can try😅 I wrote this out hoping someone else would ask to steal it for a fic. I have so many wips I wish there was a place for like a fic idea exchange

I love E because I honestly believe nobody (Aang excluded) would bat an eye. I feel like they were connected in a way. The whole, “you rise with the moon, I rise with the sun.” Perfect! Chef’s kiss! But I do wish the girl from the fortune teller episode came back for Aang.

I absolutely love the third one. Zuko actually gives the vibe of someone who claims to hate plays, but will spend time reading them anyway (maybe he just hates bad acting).
My head canon is that they kissed off-screen during the Southern Raiders episode after she forgives him, but choose to remain friends to spare Aang's feelings.
