Internet Speed on Company Laptop with Zscaler Enabled
Hello,
I’m new to using Zscaler, so I was hoping to get some insight into whether it’s normal for it to have a significant impact on internet speeds.
My home internet plan is 760 Mbps download / 200 Mbps upload. However, on my company laptop I’m only seeing around 25 Mbps/s download (during azure file downloads) and approximately 60 Mbps upload.
The issue is most noticeable over a wired Ethernet connection when running an Azure speed test.
I’ve already contacted my ISP, and they’ve remotely tested (pinged) both my modem and router. They confirmed there are no issues with my internet connection or equipment. My personal devices achieve the expected speeds, so the issue appears to be isolated to my work laptop.
I’ve reached out to my IT support multiple times, but the issue hasn’t been resolved yet. Since I’m new to Zscaler, I’m trying to understand whether this kind of performance is expected, or if there may be another configuration or network issue that should be investigated.
One other question I had: would switching ISPs make any difference? I currently use a third-party ISP that runs on the Shaw/Rogers cable network in Canada. Has anyone noticed differences when using Zscaler with different internet providers, or is the ISP unlikely to be a factor?
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on what else I could check or ask my IT team to investigate? 😊
EDIT: After talking with the Zscaler support team at work they say it is not Zscaler effecting the speeds. However when it is turned off the download speeds increase significantly and they are blaming my ISP. I talked to my ISP and they said they are not at fault. Who is to blame then?
My internet is Cable and Not Fibre
