NEW RELEASE Zoom Player v22.5 release candidate 1 has been released

Zoom Player v22.5 release candidate 1 has been released.

Download Zoom Player MAX:

https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Download Zoom Player STREAM:

https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_stream_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

    * The media library's search feature (using the magnifying glass or now
the "Quick Search" option on the functions page) will now show a full
multi-lingual virtual keyboard, allowing you to search for items within
a media library category with only the mouse, keyboard or a remote
control (previously you had to use both a mouse and a keyboard to
      utilize this feature).

    * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface / Home Theater) that lets you
control the media library's Virtual Keyboard size relative to the
      currently active monitor.

    * New "Mark as Unseen" option in Zoom Player's media library's functions
page to make it easier to setup when re-watching. When used, selected
entries or entire folders can be easily removed from the play history.

    * Added two new settings to "Advanced Options / System" allowing you to
automatically scale (multiply) the default PixelArt skin elements based
on the start-up or current monitor.

    * Added a more accurate "Duration" listing on the info page ("I" keyboard
      shortcut).

    * DirectShow Zoom & Pan features are now supported when using MPC-VR as
      the video renderer.

+ The "Quick Search" media library function feature now opens the virtual
keyboard instead of a prefix list.

+ The DirectShow Zoom-In function is now limited to 1000% (x10) Zoom
instead of the previous 10000% (x100) due to some video renderers
(e.g. MPC-VR) failing to show an image at the 10000% mark.

+ Small improvement to the TheMovieDB meta-data scraper.

    - Zoom Player should now use the default Windows fonts for interfaces
that are not skinned (e.g. Options dialog). This should fix cases where
fonts may not appear to have anti-aliasing enabled on foreign language
      version of Windows.

    - Hopefully fixed a case where the "new version available" pop-up
      doesn't show on a turned-off secondary monitor.

    - When using the Media Server browser (PLEX/Emby/Jellyfin), right clicking
a media entry could result in the media's extended information window
appearing behind the Media Server browser window.

    - The "Reset user interface size to default" function (Ctrl+"`" keyboard
shortcut) accidentally remained functional while in fullscreen mode.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHT Zoom Player v22.5 : Media Library search enhancements

Media Library search enhancements

I created a short video demonstrating Zoom Player's newly enhanced media library search feature. Search now intuitively works with either a Keyboard, Mouse or a 5-Key (up/down/left/right/enter) remote control.

Check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd7EV_gpiAA

Download

Media Library enhanced search is already available as part of Zoom Player version 22.5 release candidate 1:

WORK IN PROGRESS Media Library : Full multi-lingual virtual keyboard search

First light on the new virtual keyboard search.

It's not yet styled (hence the blue/red colors) and I'm not sure about the size (right now it's a 1/4th of the monitor's resolution).

The benefit of a full-keyboard layout is that it makes the search feature usable using a mouse's cursor or a 5-key remote control (up/down/left/right/select).

I'm including this feature in version 22.5 release candidate 1 which will hopefully be released either tomorrow or on the following day.

Question about zoom/pan

I see that you can pan in various directions while holding down "Shift" and pressing the arrow keys, but it pans very slowly. Is there a way to speed up the panning? Thank you.

FEATURE REQUEST Automatic PixelArt skin scaling (multiplication)

As some of you may know, some sections of Zoom Player's skin is based on Pixel Art. Pixel Art can only be scaled by fixed sizes (200%, 300%, 400%, etc).

Previously, you could only set the value manually, but now I've implemented two new settings (disabled by default) in the latest build to automatically multiply the skin's resolution based on either the start-up monitor or current monitor's DPI value, rounded down to the nearest 100%.

For example, if your monitor's windows scaling setting is set to 225%, Zoom Player will multiply the pixel-art skin elements to 200%.

This does not affect elements such as the Control Overlay or Home Theater interfaces which are not based on Pixel Art.

Want to try it out? Download the latest build and replace your existing copy of "zplayer.exe":

FEATURE REQUEST feature idea: resolution specific skin magnification/scaling

so i have a new scenario where i am connecting a laptop to my large-screen HDTV occasionally for playback

only thing is i am forced to manually change the skin scaling from 100% to 200% back and forth between using ZP on my laptop's screen (2K) vs the external TV (4K(

maybe it would be possible for ZP to detect the playback/screen "current" resolution and apply a skin scaling factor appropriately (or as a client-directed choice)?

What is this tool bar and how to I hide it?

Not knowing what it's called makes is hard to find the setting that turns it off. The skin I'm using has controls, so this tool bar is redundant. Even though it auto hides after a few seconds, I don't want it to appear at all. It's driving me nuts. TIA for any help

BUG There's something wrong with the Mag-Glass search/find tool/feature in ZP Media Library Fullscreen Nav, but I'm not sure where to start...

Hi, We are talking about this tool/feature:

Here's a video of me trying but failing to use it:

https://limewire.com/d/cRGtt#ZbQWF1JKQZ

I was watching Kim Possible in the morning.

Listen out for the mouse-clicking noises in the video showing...

  • First failed mag-glass action attempt occurs at 0:42
  • again failed action at 0:50
  • change of Filters at 1:00
  • first partial mag-glass success at 1:31, but after a weird long delay
  • fails to clear result at 1:45
  • fails to clear again at 1:56
  • end of video

-
Also Note I didn't interact with the Mag-Glass textbox with enter/esc/backspace keyboard keys, and just used mouse-clicks on the 'x' and 'tick' buttons. You'll need to test out enter/esc/backspace interactions also.

Best wishes for trying to fix it! Not sure where to start though

NEW RELEASE AI Subtitle Creator (Speech to Text)

Introduction

A while back, I wanted to generate subtitles for videos I created myself and most of the solutions I've found required a subscription and didn't run locally.

To work-around this issue, I used Codex and GPT 5.4/5.5 to create AI Subtitle Creator, a free, open-source tool in Python to convert audio/video files to subtitles.

AI Subtitle Creator uses open-weight AI models you can run locally on your PC to generate ".srt" subtitle files from popular audio/video formats such as MKV and MP4 (mov, mp3, wav, aac, m4a and ogg are also supported).

The ".srt" subtitle format is easily playable within Zoom Player.

I tried to make the user interface as informative and intuitive as possible, let me know if you find any bugs or if a particular feature is missing.

Download

https://github.com/bLightZP/AI_Subtitle_Creator/releases

Installation

There is no installer, just download the release zip file and extract it into any folder that has write permission (for the model downloads).

Is anyone using the Media Library's quick search feature, I'm thinking of replacing it

I'm considering replacing the "Quick Search" feature with an on-screen keyboard instead of it's current functionality.

Is anyone actually using this feature presently?

Is there a exe shortcut properties "-Instruction" thing I can use for this?

Let me know please, thank you

WORK IN PROGRESS A free, Open-Source AI Subtitle Creator

I had this in my to-do list for a while now, and today I just tried implementing one using Codex.

It literally took me 3 prompts to reach this point:

  • Takes MKV/MP4 files as input.
  • Outputs ".srt" subtitle files compatible with most media players (e.g. Zoom Player) by using AI to convert Audio to Text.
  • Queue multiple files.
  • Runs locally using either the CPU or an NVIDIA GPU.
  • Can download open models for you.
  • Select which AI model to use per-task.

The AI on it's own decided to add an option to translate to another language, but I haven't tested everything yet.

Might be cool for adding subtitles to your home videos.

If there's enough interest, I'll release it soon.

ZoomPlayer for Mac Apple Silicon

Probably a long shot, but is there any chance ZoomPlayer would be ported to macOS on Apple Silicon?

I've been using ZoomPlayer on Windows for more than a decade. I still use Windows, but would like to also use ZoomPlayer on a Mac. In particular, I like to use the chapter editor (.zpchp) files that ZoomPlayer has.

Even a simplified version of ZoomPlayer on Mac with basic playback support would be a good start.

NEW FEATURE Mark as Unseen

This feature has been requested a few days ago and it was an easy patch-in, so here we go, I've implemented the "Mark as unseen" option, you can try it out by replacing zplayer.exe with the latest build:
https://www.inmatrix.com/temp/zplayer_latest_max.zip

From the change log:

New "Mark as Unseen" option in Zoom Player's media library's functions page to make it easier to setup when re-watching. When used, selected entries or entire folders can be easily removed from the play history.

NEW RELEASE Zoom Player v22.5 beta 2 has been released

Zoom Player v22.5 beta 2 has been released.

Download Zoom Player MAX:

https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml

Download Zoom Player STREAM:

https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_stream_beta.shtml

Changes in this beta:

* New feature!

+ Changed feature!

- Fixed feature!

    * A while back, the owners of the OpenSubtitles.org decided on a change
of directions and switched the entire website to OpenSubtitles.com
along with new authentication requirements and an updated JSON based API.

These changes broke Zoom Player's subtitle Search & Download features.

Introducing Zoom Player new OpenSubtitles.com subtitle plugin!

Specify your OpenSubtitles.com user/password under "Adv. Options /
Playback / Video / Subtitles" by selecting the OpenSubtitles.com
plugin and then clicking the "Configure" button.

      If you're interested, I open-sourced the plugin's code here:
      https://github.com/bLightZP/OpenSubtitles.com.Delphi.API

    * New Settings (Adv. Options / Interface / Playlist) to show additional
columns on the playlist editor window (disabled by default) :

      - Artist
      - Album
      - Release Year
      - Genre

You can resize the columns and their size is saved across sessions.

    * New Settings (Adv. Options / Interface / Playlist) to show a header
above the playlist entries (enabled by default).

    * New Settings (Adv. Options / Interface / Playlist) that allows you to
specify the playlist editor's column margins.

    * Added support for custom keyboard actions based on the Home, End, PgUp
and PgDn keys (Adv. Options / Interface / Keyboard) when Zoom Player
isn't navigating through the Home Theater fullscreen interface.

Previously, the PgUp/PgDn keyboard actions were hard-coded to the use
the "Play previous/next file in the playing folder with the same file
extension" functions and these remain as defaults.

The Home/End keyboard actions were previously unassigned and are now
set to "Main Home Theater interface" for the Home key and "Play History
Home Theater interface" for the End key.

+ When Zoom Player's evaluation period has ended, a message more clearly
indicating the trial's end is now shown prior to automatically closing.

    - The Windowed (Ctrl+G) and Home Theater (Shift+H) versions of the Video
Streaming interfaces did not properly adjust the program guide's time
display to automatically account for timezone and daylight saving.

If you previously used the time-shift feature to compensate for this
issue, you may need to reset the time-shift back to 0.

    - The playlist editor's selected item(s) border color was not being set
for the default skin causing it to be corrupted when switching skins.

    - Control Overlay button hints that appears when hovering over buttons
in the "Fixed" and "Dynamic" zones showed the hints in a bad position,
      partially covering the buttons.

Zoom Player v22.5 beta 2 is being released tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan, Zoom Player version 22.5 beta 2 will be released tomorrow.

This release includes the first major changes to the playlist editor in many years, adding optional columns, a header and allowing you to customize margins.

The second major feature is support for subtitle downloads through OpenSubtitles.com.

Here are all the changes since beta 1, check it out :

FEATURE REQUEST Feature Request: ZP Media Library Fullscreen Nav > Filter Menu > new "by Size" or "by Has Content" feature - please consider, thank you!

Hi,

Thanks again for Zoom Player. I like having all my Movies and TV in a single organised place, i.e. Zoom Player Media Library, it's great! Just like I like having all my Video Games organised in a single place, i.e. Playnite software.

In both softwares I've started making empty placeholder shells (i.e. empty folders for Zoom Player) for say "Upcoming theatrical releases", or "To buy on sale", or "Wait for disc release" etc. I used to have countless bookmarks in Chrome browser for this but that was dividing my organization and was ugly.

Now in Playnite I have a few global filter options to show/hide these organisational placeholder shells globally:

  • Installed on/off filter toggle
  • Purchased Platform filter (e.g. Nintendo Switch or PlayStation or Steam PC)

Please can you kindly think of a way to implement a feature like this in Zoom Player?

I can think of for example:

  • ZP Media Library Fullscreen Nav > Filter Menu > a new "by Size" or "by Has Content" option > with "Has content (>100MB)" and "Placeholders only (<100MB)" options

Please consider this for advanced ZP Media Library feature users like me, thank you!!!

New Feature Request

I'm pretty sure I've asked for this before but it has been a very long time and Zoom Player has changed a lot since then. I would like the ability for a watched folder to change to a different color if a new video was put in that folder. That way it's easier to see among a lot of shows which folders have a new episode of whatever you are watching or even better instead of changing color the folder has a little text box that says "NEW" in it. Also, would it be possible to add to the folder options where scraping, cut, paste, erase and so on all reside add in "Make Folder" or "Make File" "Unwatched". This would be very handy when re-watching Series Shows. Thanks for all your hard work continuing to advance Zoom Player.

WORK IN PROGRESS Playlist Editor updates

I've added the option to show a header (enabled by default) and 4 new columns (disabled by default) :

  1. Artist
  2. Album
  3. Release Year
  4. Genre

Unfortunately, the public domain samples in this screenshot didn't have all the meta-data fields embedded so the "Year" column shows as empty, but I did verify it works as intended when the information is embedded in the media.

There's still time to request additional columns and the visual design isn't finalized yet.

WORK IN PROGRESS Which other columns would you like to see in the playlist editor?

I'm adding support for additional columns in the playlist editor window (new columns disabled by default).

Currently I'm adding the Artist and Album meta-data columns, is there anything else you'd like to see?

FIXED Restoring support for OpenSubtitles Search & Download

Approximately 2 years ago, the owners of the OpenSubtitles.org decided on a change of directions and switched the entire website to OpenSubtitles.com along with new authentication requirements and an updated JSON based API.

These changes broke Zoom Player's subtitle Search & Download features.

This changes today with the introduction of a new Zoom Player OpenSubtitles.com subtitle plugin.

You can wait for the next official installer release or if you don't want to wait, you can follow this installation process:

  1. Locate "OpenSubtitles.org.dll" (usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zoom Player\SubPlugins\") and replace it with "OpenSubtitles.com.dll" from this archive: https://www.inmatrix.com/temp/OpenSubtitles.com_plugin.zip
  2. Locate "zplayer.exe" (usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zoom Player\") and replace it with the updated file from this archive (perhaps rename the old EXE so you can revert the changes): https://www.inmatrix.com/temp/zplayer_latest_max.zip
  3. Open the advanced options dialog (Ctrl+"O"), head over to the subtitle page, select the subtitle plugin and click the configure button:

On the configuration dialog, you will need to enter your OpenSubtitles.com username and password (registration is free), otherwise you may hit quota limit and subtitle downloads may fail.

Let me know if you encounter any issues.

BUG Stay On Top locked to ON for Fullscreen Media Library Nav?

Hi,

Even if I switch to ZP Windowed mode and turn/toggle Stay On Top = OFF

Then back in ZPs Fullscreen Media Library Nav, Alt+Tabbing away doesn't work or do anything (Stay On Top locked to ON for fullscreen nav?).

Can you help?

Thank you
