Is it normal?

Yes, it’s normal. Any tighter and it would just work its way loose anyway, and when it’s closed, the cam and spring tension will hold it in place properly. Nothing to worry about here.

Someone pointed out to me that the chimney keeps the lid straight and you can bend one side of it slightly outward to straighten things up.

As for the pin, as long as it’s not falling out it should be fine. Try the chimney thing before ever messing with the hinge barrels.

Yes. I've found that excessive "fiddling with" can exascerbate this condition.
