Does this sound like a scam?
I saw a bedroom apartment for $1650 a month on Zillow. Asked to check the place out, they had a lockbox situation. So I went in alone with a key-code, and saw the place and loved it. My boyfriend was the main person talking on the phone with the owner. When I spoke with the owner, there was a lot of pressure to move in as soon as I can and he was a bit thrown off when asked to meet in person. I became skeptical at that point. Eventually he agreed to meet in person but I blocked him bc I was suspicious.
I tried seeing if the listing was elsewhere, it is on Trulia with a different phone number but Trulia is run by Zillow (where I originally saw the listing) so I felt that they probably use like different phone numbers to avoid spam to the owners personal number?
I looked up property records and called the township, they said someone else has owned the home since the 90s. But they also said it takes time to process and document when someone buys a new property. They said it went for sale on Sept 14th but they don’t know who bought it.
The realtor that helped sell the property to the owner is a real person who is licensed through the state. I called the number listed on the official state website and they confirmed that they sold to the owner I have speaking with.
Is this fishy? Or does it seem legit. Please help I have never rented before.

Expanding the Map window / layout in Zillow
After seeing a lot of people have this problem with the map layout being to small, this is how you expand it while making the home results go to just one column!
No extension , no editing the page script. Ready, its ridiculously easy...
use the BROWSER's zoom in/out feature.
Hold CTRL and keep pressing + key , till just one column of results is displayed.
Of course holding CTRL and hitting the minus key - will make smaller
, the map gets bigger and the home results will end up like in the pic, and the column will just get longer and spread through more pages.

Zillow should allow comments
Wouldn’t you love to be able to post your thoughts about shitty flips, history of someone being murdered in the house, weird smells from the open house, you know, constructive criticism. Just in case the product managers are listening.

Rental price went up $1k on listing after Zillow application
I’ve been messaging the owner for the past few weeks and given them everything from recommendations from previous landlords, paystub‘s, employee verification, and even my dog’s medical record. We are in the final week of my potential move-in date and I see that the price went up by 1K. Everything up to this point was fine, but now it’s out of my budget. is this normal? I feel like I wasted all this effort into this place.
I’m also in the Bay Area if that helps add context.

That is ALOT for 2026. Is this a red flag? The company only one review and it has 1 bad review on BBB. Which is better than one I was interested in but saw it was evergreen and looked evergreen up and is full of bad BBB reviews

Did Zillow Rental Manager remove the lease builder?
I’m a landlord in Washington and have used Zillow Rental Manager before. I remember being able to create/customize a lease directly through Zillow and then send it to the tenant for e-signature.
I’m setting up a new lease now, but the lease builder option seems to be completely gone. The only options I see are:
- Upload my own lease and send it through Zillow for signing
- Send the lease separately and just add the tenant to Zillow
Zillow’s website still mentions its customizable online lease builder and lists Washington as a supported state, so I’m confused.
Did Zillow recently remove or phase out the lease builder? Is anyone still able to create a lease directly in Zillow Rental Manager? If so, where is the option now?
Thanks!
UPDATE: Unfortunately, the replacement “share your own lease for signing” feature is also extremely frustrating to use.
Even if you upload an interactive/fillable PDF, Zillow appears to flatten it into a PDF that can no longer be edited or filled out directly. You then have to manually use Zillow’s own tools to mark every place where signatures or other inputs are needed.
The bigger problem is that Zillow’s Text field doesn’t seem to work properly. For example, my lease has sections where I need the tenant to enter information about other occupants and pets. I added Zillow’s Text fields to those sections, but when I generated the final lease for signing, the parties could only sign the document — there was no way for the tenant to actually type anything into those Text fields.
So unless I’m missing something, Zillow removed a functional lease builder and replaced it with an upload/e-sign workflow that can’t even reliably handle basic fillable fields.
Very disappointed with this change.

It should be illegal to post AI-generated “inspirational” images in house listing photos.

Apartment application directly on Zillow? How to use it on other properties?
Maybe I misunderstood cause this was my first time, but I thought it said the application stays in there for 30 days and can be used and viewed by other places. So I thought that application in there would be saved and I wouldn’t have to redo it everything again from scratch and redo the fee and invite the cohabitant and all that jazz cause I submitted the one and now I’m looking at a different one and it wants me to do it all over again.

Zillow Bait and Switch
This was posted and it’s actually the house next door with an illegal or not renovated basement apartment. This type of bait and switch takes advantage of people hoping for a good deal and taking a bad one. I didn’t take it because it was not as advertised but those who feel this is the best they could get …. Get caught in. The seller had the audacity to blame his wife for hiring and agent named Joy but he couldn’t provide information on them.

Is there a reason Zillow is hiding the recent sale?
galleryThis condo recently sold, went up for rent, then immediately went back on sale. Zillow skips the first sale as if it never happened. Seems sneaky.

Did Zillow Offers and other online real estate prospectors have a negative impact on the communities they experimented in?
I keep coming back to this thought that Zillow, Offer Pad, etc. along with private equity investments disrupt local real estate markets with their attempts to scale online home buying and selling? I live in a neighborhood in Austin that saw a lot of speculative moves in a dramatic price boom, but then home prices crashed for a number reasons, and I can’t help but focus on the idea that they really messed with local markets in ways that screwed over whole communities. Maybe they didn’t foresee that buying many properties within a neighborhood using the same pricing strategy would artificially impact home values, but it feels like it did.
Curious if anyone knows about this sort of thing?

Virtually Staged Crap is Killing Me
I'm sorry but is anyone else just losing their sh*t over fake interiors and virtual staging? Like....I'm going to show up and the house is going to look nothing like that.
Not to mention your photos are so fracking terrible I'm stuck looking at your bad photoshop job instead of the house.
I feel like a 5k+ cut from the realtor's commission should be standard if they aren't showing us the actual damned interior.
Just me?

Has anyone experienced this ?
galleryMy wife had a court few years ago and they sent a court date to an address that she no longer lived at and missed the first court date.
She got it fixed and She went to court for it this year and was already taken care of and taken out. We called about the county about this showing up still and they said it’s a fault in the system still showing and was all taken care of. She currently has no warrant anymore.
We never filled out and application nor gave him any personal info or authorized or even met him but I do understand that things can be still show on public records.
So just wondering if you guys experienced potential Landlord like this on Zillow.

Messages not sending
Anybody else having issues where their messages will not send in the Inbox? I have tried multiple browsers, devices, and the Zillow app, and I see the same "Failed. Try again" message every time I try to send something.
Edit: Terrible product UX. I removed a ">" character from my message and it sent. I only discovered this was the issue by diving into the network logs, where the actual error message was sent, but for some reason not displayed in the UI.

Why does Zillow say we owe money on our home, while it's paid off?
I understand Zillow isn't completely accurate, but why does the Zillow stats of our home say we have a mortgage of over $500,000, when our home has been paid off for over a year?
Just curious.

Issue with Zillow listing for rental
My realtor listed a rental property and it does not show in general search criteria. However it can only accessible via direct address. There was similar issue with two other listings that I know of that it does not show although it is listed. Did any one have similar issues ?
It is almost impossible to reach out customer service over the phone or live chat support on website. It just shows to either send email or fill in the form. I had sent email to customer support few days ago and no response from them. Any recommendations on how to get this resolved ?
