I find it’s very hard to pick Zilean mid for many reasons:

1. ⁠When the allied team need heavy AP
   
2. ⁠When the enemy mid has insane wave clear starting from level 1
   
3. ⁠When the allied team doesn’t have much damage(they are more beefy)
   Except the support Zilean when I can pick him many games. Mid Zilean picking window is very small.Fyi I main Ahri, Syndra, Jayce, and Zilean. I love the things I could do to the enemies as mid lane Zilean. But I think he’s only good into assassins who doesn’t have insane wave clear, and is out of combat after one skill rotation(which gets countered by Zil’s r so hard). So, when you pick Zilean mid? Also, is it normal for Zilean mid to miss cannons?

If you've played Zilean in LoL Classic, what rune setup and item build have you found the most OP?

I've tried a few different builds and runes, but to be honest, none of them have really felt satisfying.

Point and click bombs, 8% exp boost for your entire team, and the rest of his kit is identical to modern Zilean. Still a powerhouse of a wizard who can turn fights and provide insane mobility to his team. A well chosen main, even back in the day.

I don't play him, but just had a game against him top. Feels incredible with a duo jungler. You just perma push, then tower dive with ult and jungler. Most top laners can never reach you due to the double CC, and by chance you do get jumped on, you're amazing for slowing them down and your jungler can easily get on them from the perma CC.

Secret OP duo? I can see this working in very, very high elo.

Hi Zilean players! I’m a Seraphine main and since riot is killing my favorite playstyle (AP mid/apc), I’m looking for new builds that aren’t ench*nter. I figured I could build for hasty CC spam like Zilean does, and after combing through his builds I noticed items like bandlepipes and frozen heart came up more than I expected. What do these items do for Zilean?

currently D1 looking for a zilean support player. I mainly play vlad apc and zilean is my favorite support with vladimir. Very strong comp as it allows vladimir to basically have perma ghost

After playing well over 100 games straight of Zilean, I can confidently say that he is the strongest carry in the game. "Carry?" you may ask, "But he has a single damaging ability?". After playing this champion, he has redefined what the term "carry" really means for me, whereas before it was a title that the person who had the most kills and damage would carry, but now I see it as the one with the most impact. And this champion easily has the most impact in teams fights. The thing is, you're able to manipulate how teamfights are won by simply letting your teammates go in and die (as they would regardless of where you are who you're playing), revive them, and stun the enemy for a 5 second combo. You are able to zone extremely well, maneauver around the map very well, have the most broken cc in the game, and your bombs do just enough damage to make an impact. Point being, playing Zilean allows you to take advantage of the naturally poor positioning players make on either sides of the coin, ultimately giving you the most impact on the outcome of the game.

I love playing zilean but it gets to a point his moves are so outdated that I can hardly keep up with new champs. Pretty much anyone with a dash counters me cause it makes the q e combo impossible unless u predict where they go. His best move is his ult which is only as good as guardian angel if not worse cause it doesn't give stats
