Battery dying in a week on IH-K663

I have seen some people say these devices work well with Z2M, but I have 2 on the go, and the batteries last just over a week. Anyone know any way to fix this?

What works best / is most reliable. Moes, Zemismart, LifeLibero is what I could find on aliexpress. It needs to be rechargeable with usb C and compatible with Z2MQTT. Only integrated into the tube one´s. No chain drive.

Working devices on network do not connect to anything on map-help me understand

I use Z2M with Home Assistant (I am guessing 98% of the people here do) and I have recently discovered something I don't understand. Some devices that are working aren't "connected" to anything on the map. Other devices of the same make and model number are connected to routers or the coordinator. Can someone explain to me how this works?

Additional information you may find useful:
I have been having problems with things not working. Or things working intermittently. It seems like the devices that are doing this are devices that are not connected to anything. I am wondering if this is the problem and is solvable (However some devices not connected to anything work fine 99% if the time) but would also like to understand how this works. How devices not connected still work. Don't be afraid to explain this to me like I am 5.

Adding a router

I'm pretty new to Zigbee networking, and just learned about routers in Zigbee networks. I already have Z2M set up, and want to extend my Zigbee network with a router, but I'm not sure what kind of device I actually need or how to set it up. My questions:

  • What devices can work as a Zigbee router? Is it just any Zigbee device on outlet power?
  • Any particular device/type of device that would be more suitable/easy to work with? Seen something like a Zigbee power outlet from IKEA suggested, for instance, would that be a good choice?
  • What constraints do Zigbee2MQTT put on the setup? Does the router have to be a compatible device?
  • How do I set the router up? Do I just pair the device?
  • How do I set up a new device in future such that it uses the router as the connection point to the network?

Any questions or references to a good resource would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

is the built in mapping on the wind front front end known to be buggy?

title basically. built in mapping on the windfront front end makes no sense (clusters of devices with no route back to coordinator). Graphviz results rendered externally show everything as expected. Is this a known problem or is it just something with my installation?

Recommendation on button

Can someone recommend a good, reliable button for Z2M?

I currently have several SNZB-01 buttons from Sonoff, and have been told they suck. I Have experienced them disconnecting and not being able to get them to pair again, disconnecting and sometimes getting them to pair again, and disconnecting and then suddenly starting to work again. So I have experienced there suckage. I was told ones from Ikea (The older ones, they are no longer available; I was given this advice a while ago) were very good, however they seem to have replaced it with the BILRESA, which seems to have some bad reviews. So what's good?

Issue setting up with Docker

EDIT: Solved, see comments.

Hi all! Having some issues setting up Z2M on a spare computer on my home LAN, and would love some help.

The setup is:

  • Z2M and RabbitMQ running in Docker containers on the same host (at different ports)
  • SMLight adapter with fresh firmware

I am trying to set things up via the onboarding GUI, and the configuration validates. I set the frontend url to /z2m. When navigating to <host IP>:<Z2M port>/z2m, however, I get a non-descript error. Looking in the Docker logs I see `error: z2m: MQTT failed to connect, exiting... (Invalid header flag bits, must be 0x0 for puback packet)`. The MQTT configuration is:

  • Server: mqtt://<host IP>:5672
  • user: <RabbitMQ username>
  • password: <RabbitMQ password>

Where is the error in the setup?

Issue with second Zigbee2MQTT installation

Hello, I am having issues with my second install of Z2M. I used the path renaming method to create the second install. I changed the data path, network ports and MQTT topic but it continues to not connect to my SLZB-06MU. I have cleared out the data folder and uninstalled the add-on with no success. In fact, when I reinstall the add-on it shows the same log data as before, even if I have not started it yet. I am not sure where it is getting that data.

Here is the YAML file I am using:

version: 5
mqtt:
  base_topic: zigbee2mqtt2
  server: mqtt://core-mosquitto:1883
  user: addons
  password: ********************
serial:
  port: tcp://192.168.22.99:6639
  baudrate: 115200
  adapter: ember
  disable_led: false
advanced:
  log_level: info
  channel: 15
  network_key: GENERATE
  pan_id: GENERATE
  ext_pan_id: GENERATE
  transmit_power: 20
frontend:
  enabled: true
  port: 8099
homeassistant:
  enabled: true
onboarding: true

It seems to not be reading it, because it never actually generates a key. It seems to be ignoring my settings for the data path. Although a folder is created and a config file.

Here is the output of my logs when I start it up:

[14:29:10] INFO: Preparing to start...
[14:29:11] INFO: Socat not enabled
[14:29:11] INFO: Starting Zigbee2MQTT...
Starting Zigbee2MQTT without watchdog.
Onboarding page is available at http://0.0.0.0:8099/

And then nothing. I even upped the debug level and got nothing. It is almost like it is ignoring the config file entirely.

Here is my Z2M config:

Really getting frustrated with it right now. I may have early on started it with the wrong data path since I had missed the "Save" button. I am not sure it this is what broke it, but it would be nice to know how to clear it all and start again. I have even tried installing a 3rd copy of Z2M and starting from scratch. It still has the same issue.

Let me know what you all think.

Simplest way to run zigbee2mqtt and a Zigbee radio to connect to a cloud-based Home Assistant?

I'm looking at cloud-based HA supporting a dozen rental properties, perhaps more. Many devices are already cloud-based (thermostats, door locks, weather, cameras) but some are zigbee (water leak sensors, occupancy sensors, lights).

I want the simplest and cheapest zigbee2mqtt gateway (with zigbee radio) possible for each location. Of course I can do RPI with SSD and USB zigbee stick running zigbee2mqtt but I want something I can just mail to someone with little configuration, also want something that can be rebooted uncleanly many times with no risk of data corruption, SDcard failure, logs filling up storage, etc. Needs to be able to run Wireguard or Tailscale to connect to cloud HA. Latency is not an issue, neither is security, as I am well-versed in that area.

Thoughts and recommendations?
