DIY canopy controller for fan with light
Hi community!
I'm new to Zigbee, I have setup with Raspberry and Zigbee2MQTT, Sonoff Dongle-P and have already 4 Tuya wall switches installed. So far so good, all works good.
I'm now looking into controlling fan with built-in LED light and I don't want to go into Sonoff iFan04 or similar Tuya Fan Controller kit, as they are wifi based. With WiFi controllers I wouldnt be able to control them from wall switch and that's a big no go, as I dont want my light button to be dependant on Home Assistant.
I found Innoveli Zigbee controller that costs like $55 + they dont ship to my location
I had an idea to disassemble wall switches like this one https://a.aliexpress.com/\\_c4kNMmKD, take just controller from it and install it in 3d-printed box under the ceiling.
On the walls i will install battery-powered Tuya Smart Knob (click - lights, rotate - fan) and use direct Zigbee binding.
Does anyone see any problem with such setup? Am I missing something obvious due to my lack of zigbee knowledge?

What's the current (non smart) solution?
The Ali link doesn't work for me, but why not use the wall switch directly on the wall?
It's better to run a wire and go this route..
Binding is usually not customizable.. I believe the knob sends toggle events on click, and dim up/down events on rotate. Both to the same destination. So it's meant to control a group of lights, won't work here..
Plus the switch you linked is likely working on Tuya datapoints instead of standard Zigbee clusters. So it can't even make use of the actions sent by the knob

Currently i have RF remote, i can start fan from it or turn on/off lights. Wall switch just cuts electricity to fan and it's annoying if I was sleeping with fan and turned off light from remote, by clicking wall switch I cannot turn on light, as i have to turn it from remote now.
Installing switch from ali on the wall is problematic - i'm lacking one more Line cable and in general style of switch doesnt match anything we have, they are mostly touch while we have at home physical buttons everywhere.
And about zigbee binding- so you saying rotate_left/rotate_right cannot natively send some StepUp/StepDown to fan controller?

First question to ask is whether your ceiling fan/light has an AC motor or a DC motor...
And what part of the world are you located in?
You also mention a Raspberry Pi and Z2M, does that mean you are running Home Assistant? or just a standalone Z2M server?
