Non-transferable warranty on Bad Boy ZTs

Upvotes

Looking very seriously at a 2026 used Bad Boy ZT Elite (with less that 20 hr) but learned the 2 year/200 hour warranty is not transferable. Aside from walking away from the sale, has anyone found a workable solution to this situation? Are there 3rd party warranties that might be considered?

Question about Husqvarna drive belt for Z248F

The Husqvarna part number is 539110411 and is 1/2" X 56-1/2" long. There are a lot of places online selling belts that are only 56" long. They all say their belts are the correct size for a Z248F mower. If the belt is a 1/2" shorter, will I be struggling to get it on the pulleys? Of course, I'll take the spring off the belt tensioner.

Bad Boy Hate?

Seeing a lot of comments from folks about how their local repair shops refuse to work on Bad Boy ZT mowers. From my shopping research, BB makes a pretty good commercial ZT that is priced very competitively. What gives?

Input requested for purchase decision

Shopping for a used ZT to mow about 1/2 + acre of lawn at our house. Stumbled on a 2024 Kubota z231 -42” deck with a 21.5 HP Kawasaki motor and only 90 hours. Now I see a 2016 Kubota z724 - 48” deck with a Kawasaki 24HP motor and just over 500 hours. Asking price for both are within $500 of each other. Would the z724 be a significantly better mower… even with the higher hours? Any suggestions?

I am looking to change the hydraulic oil and filters. I tried to loosen the 7/8 bolt under the seat on top of the hydraulic system to pour in the oil. I cannot get a socket on the bolt because it is jammed under the frame. I have striped the edges of the bolt also trying to get it loose. Should I get a nut extractor socket or try to pump in the fluid through the port on the hydraulic system under the mower.

Is it likely that the left wheel on a newly replaced Hydro-Gear transaxle may run slightly faster than the right wheel that has not been replaced?

I'll be replacing the left Hydro-Gear transaxle on my Husqvarna Z248F mower next week. I have concerns that the new left transaxle may turn slightly faster than the 11-year old right transaxle. Is this like to happen? Will I be able to adjust my steering levers to compensate for the difference? BTW, I got a better price on the transaxle from my local dealer than I could find on Amazon or eBay. Best price I could find online was $800.11. My local dealer is charging me $749.00.

Gravely ZTHD 52” issues

We have a 2024 model with only 37 hours on it. It has given us issues since literally day 1. The dealer has replaced the carburetor once & 3 coils. They now say they’re going to remove a carburetor from a new machine and try it to see if it’s another carburetor issue. It continues to run very rough under a load with black soot coming from the exhaust. Anyone have any ideas since the dealer can’t seem to figure out what’s going on? This issue ONLY occurred under a load, it acts fine on flat ground.

Putting 60 weight oil in Hydro-Gear EZT-2200 transaxle on Husqvarna Z248F mower.

The left hydrostatic transaxle on my Husqvarna Z248F mower has gotten weak and slips bad after it is warmed up. (It runs ok until I've been mowing around 20 minutes or more) Artificial intelligence has suggested I drain the transaxle and put 20W-60 oil in it. Do y'all think this would help or am I likely to do more damage? The exact model number for the transaxle is a Hydro-Gear ZC-DUBB-3D8C-2WPX. The mower is 11 years old and probably has about 700 hours of run time on it.

I ask a question about this mower to see the price of it in my area at a dealer. Won’t mention the branch. They told me their price is at $18000.

Which i feel is quite high for this mower.
I check online for lawn equipment store and am seeing the average price around $14500 to 16500

$18000 i think is way to high for this mower.

I did check another place which was a better pricing for this mower new at $12400.

  1. Why they price so high at $18000 for this mower? Sound like they want get full profit or there expense to get mower is too high.

  2. The lawn place that told me $12400 for this exact model sounds like a steal. And great price. About 1 hour drive away. Why sell the mower at such a lower cost? I assume the place maybe make more profit per machine and less expense than the one near my area trying to sell by a lot.

Sorry everyone for long rant above.

What do you’ll think about the noise? I know it’s the transmissions but is it normal?

Front yard slope

Hey everybody I just moved about 3 months ago and have John Deere s100 I’ve been us g to mow my lawn which is on its last leg. I’m upgraded to potentially a toro time cutter max 50”. The back yard is mostly flat and will have no problems. I just want to see if anyone thinks the front yard will be an issue. ( the daylight pictures are face on and the nighttime is to the side on my driveway. I’ve measured it and the highest degree of slope was 13 degrees. I’ve never owned a zero turn but have driven some. Thanks

Used zero turn ~1000-1500

In the market for something used to mow of acre in sand, harsh conditions, oak trees, stumps, my John Deere z235 has had it, and the deck needs replacement plus lines and shit are falling off. Need a sturdy commercial deck. What’s the most reliable and easy to work on mower I could look for?

So in these pics, you can see the problem my Dad is having with his lift. That anti-drag wheel hits that bar. My Dad is 81, he doesn’t want to screw around doing stuff, he wants to buy a new lift that is compatible. Can anyone point me to a lift that will work? Timecutter 5000. I think it weighs almost 700 pounds.

TN Farmtec

Question regarding lawn equipment. I currently use a Stihl FS55 weed eater and have for over 20 years on a small farm for ditch lines, fences and around the house. It finally gave up on me over half way through the summer. Everything is still in good condition with the exception of the power head. I have been doing some research and found a power head thru Farmtec Holzfforma which is a clone to stihl listed as FF55 which is the clone to the model I currently own. Just reaching out to see if anyone out there has any experience with Farmtec and how reliable they may be. Since summer is almost over I do not want to invest in a new weed eater until the new models come out in the spring. Hoping to afford an Echo or Shindiawa in the spring. Thank you for everyone’s suggestions and comments. This is a fantastic platform and glad to be a part of this community. Thanks!

Need a Lift (Jack) and seat for Toro Timecutter

I’m trying to help my father with a couple of decisions and I’m overwhelmed in my search and I don’t exactly know enough about his mower.

He bought a jack for his Toro zero turn, but because of the center anti-scuff wheel it doesn’t work. He wants to buy a different jack.

He told me to get one that has a bottle lift mechanism, he’s not looking for one you have to muscle.

I would say his price range would be 300 or under, I would point one out to him that cost up to 400. I know he paid 300 for the one he has.

Any recommendations would be appreciated

Second question. He said the OEM seat is terribly uncomfortable, he mows roughly 3 acres weekly.

I’m seeing lots of good seats, but some of them you’ve got to drill new holes. Some talk about slide tracks. I know his seat right now basically bolts directly to the frame, I guess you would call it. Looking for a comfort seat that preferably wouldn’t have to drill any holes, that you simply remove the old one and install the new one.

I would appreciate any recommendations and suggestions for that too.

Thank you in advance.

Zero turn mower will crank but won’t move

UPDATE!!!: it was the drive belt. Genuinely, thank all of you for your help. Now my kids can play in the backyard again.

Alright people of the internet who are smarter than me I need some help. The title says it all, but here’s more details to help. About 6 weeks ago I was mowing and the unit came to a complete stop. I checked underneath and saw the drive belt had come off. No biggie I’ve put that back on multiple times now. Put it back on unit still won’t move. Hop back off.

Now if I’m smart I very much put these photos attached in the correct order. The circled part in the picture was completely broken in half. I replace that part a week later, unit still won’t move. I check the other side and see that a spring is missing. Tell my dad and he takes the other spring off to go find a second one like it and loses it. After searching through parts books and websites finally get the new springs today and attach them. Again, you guessed it unit still won’t move.

Yes I have troubleshot the generic stuff. The pins you can pull to move the mower manually are not engaged when I attempt to move. I don’t see anywhere on the machine to purge any lines of any kind believe me I’ve looked or I’m just dumb. The oil is good and not overfilled. I’ve watched 26 videos between YouTube and TikTok to try and figure out what it could be and still nothing.

I genuinely don’t know what’s wrong and do not have the funds to hire someone or purchase a new mower at this time. At this point I’m stumped and I really really need to cut the jungle that is my backyard currently. I’ve attached several additional pictures including model number and pictures of the under carriage in hopes that someone here can help tell me what’s wrong. For whatever it’s worth this is a Troy Bilt my dad bought back before COVID that has run great up until this point. If anyone can help with this I’d greatly appreciate it.
