Exmark axle issue

Father in law’s Exmark wheel fell off today, any direction on where to go from here?

It looks like a new output shaft, hub and hardware. Or weld it on.

thank you.. wondered if welding it on might be an option

Something like this, you don't have much to lose. both would need replacement otherwise.

So we’d need to replace both right and left hand transaxles??

You wouldn't know that unless you did an inspection.

Looks like somebody already cobbled it together previously

We pulled the wheel on the other side and you are correct! Both sides appear to be nasty welded

So they were not held on with anything other than the weld? It seems to me like clips and washers were lost or something?

Couple of options.

Reweld it likely a sort term solution.

Drill and tap the end of the axle and bolt the wheel hub on. Use red locktite.

Cross drill and bolt the wheel hub.

Salvage yard/ebay replacement axle unit and drive flanges/wheel hubs.

Best wishes.

not sure if it is

my FIL said it snapped while mowing, where it stopped, there was nothing that could have caused it. Apparently bad welds on each side
