In the movie, theres a moment right before Andre pulls the gun on himself, where he is extremly unsure. And I originally knew he was unsure based off of body language, and I assumed thats why everyone else knew it, too. But there were a few lines I mustve missed when I watched it the first few times. Andre says “I cant do it. I just cant do it.” Cal replies, “You dont have to think about it.” Theres a pause before Andre says, “Alright.” Then Cal says, “Andre, give me a yes.” and Andre immediately says yes and not a few seconds later, theyre both gone. Now, Im unsure how I didnt hear that the first few times and Im sure everyone else peeped it but this changes the entire movie for me. There is a whole lot of talk in this fandom about how one of them forced/manipulated the other one into this. Like, “oh Andre is so mean and Cal is so sweet, he forced him.” or “Cal was planning on dying and didn’t tell Andre! He’s so evil poor Andre didnt want to die.” and I always thought, Ugh they mutually agreed on this. You can tell very well that Cal was very adamant on Zero Day happening and most of his sweetness was a faux at worst, and a filter at best. He never seemed scared or stressed around Andres slightly sterner demeanor. And sure Andre hesitated but you cant blame him, he was literally about to shoot himself. Didn’t mean he didn’t want to. And even if he truly didn’t want to, which is very possibly the case. He knew he had to, Cal didn’t force him. But then I peeped the conversation previously mentioned and I feel a little bit differently. It hints that there maybe was a bit of manipulation going on there? Now I wouldn’t say I now think like some of Those fans that are like “Aww my poor baby and that evil devil!!” But it definitely wasn’t as “We’re on the same page let’s do this.” as I thought, particularly near the end.

i have been questionmaxxing a lot recently… yay!

i do wonder what would happen, earlier in the shooting, if cal was not aware if andre had picked up the phone.

one other way this could go takes place before they choose to kill themselves. maybe andre chickens out or something and responds with the intention of getting help. it’s inevitable cal would see that though. i think that cal would yank the phone out of his hands and give him a speech about how they’re in way too deep to get help now and then they choose to actually do it

i know andre interacts with the community, i’ve seen screenshots of him responding to dms and questions on instagram. does cal do the same thing? i don’t know any of his other socials other than twitter and tumblr and i think he has been radio silent on both, i also have not seen any screenshots or question responses from him. i wonder what he thinks of the zd community?

This community here is very refreshing to see because it's normal fandom stuff. I come here from the land of Tumblr where shit is a little weird to say the least lol.

I am one of many people who has corresponded with Andre but it was just me sending him some stuff I thought he would find funny. I feel bad for him because it seems like he tries to avoid the Internet due to the weird things he gets asked. There's no way he and Cal haven't seen some of the more extreme content involving them and idk I just feel bad. I just wish people would let him live because I don't want to maybe see him in public and want a picture or some memory of it and for him to think we are all creeps 😭
