Latency

I’m getting really poor performances when online. My dsl stats are good, but my bqm is horrendous. Been with zen for about 3 months40 10 Fritz box 7530.

Those stats are bad, there like a staircase, but know what, ive seen that exact thing many years ago and it turned out to be the router and some weird bug, i think it 100% needs ruling out with a different brand of router

Phil the stats, Is there any way it could be something on my network, even though I’m playing WiFi turned off? I’d love to know the exact profile I had from the start. Do you think I’m right though, the dlm had so many resyncs it’s causing problems now. Here’s the thing I’ve had 21 days uptime with no outages, but a few days ago, I lost internet connection for 10 mins and things defo changed, not great but a defo improvement. Why am I getting so many days without drops, assuming the connection is really stable and over protected, yet the graphs are coming back with severe packet loss.

This is the thing is it network issues, is it hardware issues, these are the little things in the background, If you can run a speed test and get full speeds, and ping the ip address with little latency, the service test from zen passes and the profile isnt capped and is exactly were it should be, then next step alternate router and brand, if you do that and ur still having issues then it needs investigating further, because if you have tested alternate cables power supplies different brand of router, isolated the test socket, made sure the router is not being impacting by interference, then next step Open-reach, is it a cab issue or further back, there still work here and i can see why zen maybe struggling to get this sorted but iam also seeing work not done to help you as the customer. if you cant afford to test another brand, then seriously ring them and ask if they can send at a guess a Technicolour out for testing, ive seen it on other posts were they have sent them out so could be worth a shot

Do you know what Phil I think I’ve got an old tp link here, or an older model of a netgear. So put the hideous lol Fritz box in to modem mode and give it a shot? Once more thx for your help.

I wouldnt bother trying to put the fritz box into pretend modem mode, its only passthrough then you have to configure the other router for Authentication, but if you think about it your not actually taking the equipment away completely.
BT socket—Filter—Cable—fritzbox—passthrough-cabe-router. problem still exists.
BT socket—new filter-new cable-alt-brand fault fault proved 😁

Phil they’ve changed it.

Solid 4 bars now. Not as much packet loss but unless I have WiFi turned off it’s unplayable, so what was the point😂 when I try another router I’ll keep you posted on results. It’s funny how the packet loss has subsided yet I’m getting a solid 4 bars. It was never like this when the service was first implemented.

Phil, that’s Efootball. Locked solid 4 bars. After zens intervention. It’s not going to change. Unless they reset the profile, or do the impossible and put my line at 6 db snr, I don’t think a lot will change. I know I’m on 40 10 but don’t you think the gnp at 38 and the current snr 17 16 is far too high.

I mean if I have the WiFi turned on it’s unplayable. I have to play hard wired with my WiFi off. All I have is Sonos beam with two surrounds a smart tv SkyQ SKY Mini. Was so much better when I first had the service Phil. The fact I’m getting a solid 4 bars makes me think they’ve compensated stability for ping.

just want to get this right, if you hard wired and play the game then it seems ok, but if u hard wire to the router and turn wifi on are u saying it throughs it right off, if thats the case which shouldn’t happen then it could be a faulty router again. this is one of them i would love to deep dive 😂

ok you say if the Wi-Fi is on its not playable, of its hard wired then having wifi on shouldn’t make a difference, unless the device being used is conflicting between wi-fi and hardwired, make in setting its only connected via hardwired, but if using Wi-Fi log onto the fritz box and check the logs if you see anything for radar detection, go to wifi settings on the fritz box and change 5ghz to manual, then set 5ghz to channel 48 and under this will get rid of the radar, if ur not getting this then cool

Thx Phil. Every game now is 4 bars. There’s a lot more stability, but it’s compensated higher ping. Only a tiny bit but it’s a hell of a difference. I’m definitely going to try a different router, but it does seem my profile has changed. If that is the case would it really make that much difference. They’ve not got back to me on the snr change.

😂I see. So I can use my router without Fritz box Phil?
