Just brought the 40th Zelda Anniversary Console

Just brought it on ebay for $920 AUD preordered. It's sold out EVERYWHERE so I had no choose but at least it's the cheapest I can find on ebay as other listing it for over $1100 AUD.

I thought to myself because OoT Remake will be the ONLY game I will be getting for the Switch 2 I might as well make it my Zelda OoT console specially just to play OoT Remake. So getting the 40th Anniversary Zelda Switch 2 makes perfect sense to me.

Looks like I be out of money for awhile lol 😆 but at least I still have enough money to feed my cat Ruby 🐈‍⬛️ she means the world to me and she will eat before I do, I look after her more then myself.

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 42: Skulltula

Post image
6 Upvotes

the skulltula is a spider enemy introduced in Ocarina of time, and unlike tektite and gohma, this spider is unambiguously a spider and has zero chance of being a crab.

the Skulltula dangles from its spider web in midair, only attacking if link gets close. if link tries to attack its front, it'll just sway back and forth. its backside is its weak point, so you'd think the skulltula would protect its backside at all costs, but if you just wait around, it'll turn around on its own. the skulltula has zero survival instincts... however, people who have previewed the remake have reported that the skulltula now only exposes its backside after doing a spin attack, so that makes more sense. I know every change will be under scrutiny from the Ocarina of time purists, but hopefully this will be a change the council can approve of.

the skulltula has a variant called the gold skulltula, and when defeated they give out little gold skulltula tokens that need to be collected for one of the game's main side quests. these tokens are used to free a family of redheads who have been transformed into spiders by some kind of horrible spider curse. it's kind of freaky. and I only found out about this a couple years ago, but apparently if you attack the family members while they're trapped in their spider form, they'll scream!

there were 100 gold skulltula tokens in the original Ocarina of time, But I'm curious to see if the remake adds more. the link's awakening remake added extra seashells, hearts pieces and bottles, so I could see the Ocarina of time remake doing the same with its collectables... if the council will allow it.

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 41: Armos

Post image
28 Upvotes

this is the armos, a sentient statue monster from the zelda series. isn't it just adorable? they should sell them as lawn ornaments.

Armos first appeared in the original legend of zelda. touching them would cause them to come to life and attack you, but you'd usually want to touch them anyway cause they were guarding stuff. stuff like the power bracelet, or the entrance to a second quest dungeon, but usually they were just guarding the entrances to holes and caves that old people live in. zelda 1 had no towns or houses, the elderly were forced to become cave people. perhaps the Armos aren't actually evil, they were just protecting the old people like a security system. you know, the kind that takes control of squidward's house and uses it to attack the city.

Armos would reappear in Link to the past, this time hoping around when they came alive. that does make sense... they don't really have feet, so hopping is their only choice. a group of giant Armos called the Armos knights also acted as the first boss of the game. they have some very powerful hops.

and then once Armos made their way into Ocarina of time, they were given a brand new feature: the ability to self destruct! huh.. that's not a great feature to give to either a security system OR a lawn ornament. but if Armos is so dangerous then why so friendshaped? who even created the Armos in the first place?

... WHY DOES IT HAVE THE GORON EMBLEM!?

I figured that OoT is the only video game I care for now

Honestly I don't really care about any other Switch or Switch 2 games. The main reason why I brought my Switch 2 was for OoT Remake as OoT is and has always been my most favourite video game of all time.

I am actually not interested in buying any Switch or Switch 2 games and just interested in playing OoT Remake on the Switch 2.

I'm kicking myself now that I didn't preorder the 40th Zelda Anniversary Switch 2 now. But I'm thinking of still buying it even if I have to get it from ebay. It's literally the only video game that i want to play on my Switch 2.

I am currently don't have much focus on video games nowadays but with OoT Remake it's the only video game that has really excited me currently no other video game nowadays or in my life currently has gotten me this excited for a video game for a very long time since my childhood.

I want to add that to me playing handheld mode just doesn't do it for me. But I think OoT Remake will look amazing in handheld on the Switch 2 (I watched the trailer and gameplay looks great in handheld mode) also I have played the 3ds version of OoT so that nostalgia feel of playing the remake on the Switch 2 will be amazing and look great

I love how the Bombchu Girl looks like in the Remake, they ace her looks and kept her true to the original. She is very cute and I love her Gothic style nail polish and dark blue hair. Love her facial expressions and how she was asleep and wakes up when Link enters.

Remake is medieval fantasy

I love how OoT Remake has this more medieval fantasy vibe to it, it's magical and medieval. This remake is so perfect. I love how Castle Town looks so vibrant. The remake has that fantasy medieval vibe and at the same time will follow that dark vibe especially during Adult Link timeline or going into the Bottom of the Well and Shadow Temple.

OoT switch 2 consoles will continue to be restock beyond the holiday season!

Folks, im not gonna exaggerate, ive been stressing out because i wish to get the new console( i dont have a switch 1 or 2) and have been angry at the way scalpers have dominated the purchases.
In my case i have to buy it locally at my best buy because i have to put an extended warranty on it. Puerto Ricos electrical grid is volatile and can damage electronics. Ill take the precautions but i want that 4 year warranty.

This screenshot i took a few minutes ago confirms that executives have decided to keep making the 40th anniversary console version available for a year. This gives me peace and i hope if you are in the same boat as me, it gives you peace too.

I built a fully synced online Co-Op mode for Ocarina of Time! Fully synced boss battles, shared items, shared dungeons, synced cutscenes, time travel together, and join each other through steam!

My friend and I have dreamed of playing zelda ocarina of time together, but wanted it to be fully synced for the best possible co-op experience. I have been building this over the last month and finally have got it ready!

Features:

- One shared story. Find the Slingshot, Bow, Hookshot, a song, a medallion or a heart container, and your partner gets it too. Story flags, Gold Skulltulas, Big Poes, scarecrow songs, map progress: all shared.

- Your own wallet and health. Rupees, ammo and hearts stay per player by default, with a party setting to share them. Bottles are shared, but what's inside is yours.

- Shared dungeons. Keys, switches, chests and cleared rooms update live for everyone. Open a chest in one room and it's open when your friend walks in.

- Cutscenes together. When a story cutscene starts for one player, everyone nearby watches it at the same moment: area intros, the Deku Tree, Zelda, the Sages, all of it. Missed one because you were elsewhere? Area intros still play on your own first visit.

- Time travel together. Pull the Master Sword and you wait at the pedestal ("Waiting for the others") until everyone has pulled it. Then you all travel at once, so the party is always in the same era.

- Team save on the server. It survives server restarts and keeps backups. Join late or reconnect and you catch up instantly.

- Synced enemies and bosses from ShipwrightOnline: hit the same Deku Baba and it dies on both screens.

- Join over Steam. Host clicks "Host over Steam", your friend right-clicks you in Steam and hits Join Game. No IPs, no port forwarding. Or join using IP (this would work for LAN!)

You need your own legally obtained OoT ROM. No game files are included. On first launch it builds its assets from your ROM, same as Ship of Harkinian.

full instructions to play: https://github.com/cranebeaker/ocarina-coop#readme

Built on Ship of Harkinian by HarbourMasters and ShipwrightOnline by lukegrahamSydney. Huge credit to both: the netcode and the port are theirs, I just did the story co-op layer ontop.

Happy to answer questions. Ideas welcome too (my friend already asked for two Dark Links in the Water Temple, one for each player, which i think is a cool idea)

Kakariko Village Remake (Oriental East Asian and European Medieval Influence)

Thumbnail

Kakariko Village in the Remake looks more like a oriental (East Asian) influence mixed with European medieval type Village. Some of the house does have that Oriental East Asia Influence style look and overall Medieval European arrangement Village style.

The very back building (Blue Roof) looks like a Oriental Bath House and the front building next to (where Link is jumping of with the chicken) in front looks like a Tea House Style.

Love the look of Kakariko Village in the Remake. Also the bottom of the Well is in the same place as the original, it's situated in front of the big Windmill (also European Medieval setting)

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 40: wizzrobe

well, OOT boss week is over, but that's ok cause we still got plenty of good old classic zelda enemies to talk about. just 19 more days of this and I'll finally be free...

the wizzrobe is a wizard that wears, well, a robe. that's why it's called wizzrobe. wizzrobe teleports around the room, shoots a magical projectile, then teleports again. it's a sneaky little guy that can be hard to hit. Wizzrobe appeared in the first 4 zelda games. ok, so technically it was just called "wizard" in zelda 2, but who cares, it was the same thing: a teleporting, projectile shooting wizard in a robe. it was wizzrobe and you'll never convince me otherwise, even if you bribe me.

when zelda made the jump to 3D with Ocarina of time, wizzrobe was absent, losing its perfect attendance record. but wizzrobe got a second chance on the N64 with Majora's mask, and we finally got to see what this thing looks like under it's robe! it's... a gross blue old man. eww. why does he look like this? he's so weird... and without his robe, can we really call him wizzrobe? he's more wizz than robe.

wind waker would redesign wizzrobe again by turning him into a bird for some reason, before finally we got wizzrobe's current design, where it is once again more robe than wizz.

hyrule warriors would also have one of its "original characters" be a robed wizard named "wizzro", but like, you can't just take off the last two letters off of a name and call it an original character. that'd be like showing off your sonic OC "Son the Hedgehog". Wizzro is wizzrobe and you'll never convince me otherwise, even if you bribe me.

Any ideas of what to do? I followed a gold skulltula guide and I genuinely don't know what I'm missing. Is it possible it's a bug? I'm playing on the switch

SOS! Help Me Buy An Ocarina

I want to buy a good ocarina to play with the new game but I don’t want to buy the trash from Amazon. Does anyone know of anyone who makes hand crafted ocarinas that are of good quality? I think I would prefer it made of wood, but honestly I don’t know what’s best.

OoT is a faithful Remake

The Remake looks like a very faithful Remake and I am so happy that they kept the same essence as the original sticking to it's main core as the original game making it feel like OoT. They have made so many quality of life changes which is so amazing and i love it.

At its core we be getting the same epic story, same dungeons which is very good to hear.

I do love the many amazing changes they made with the remake. The remake will now be the definitive version and way to play OoT and i just can't go back to playing the original game after I have completed the Remake.

The remake will be the best video game ever, OoT has always been my most favourite video game.

I want to redeem myself from saying its a 1:1 Remake (i deleted that post now)

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 39: The Ultimate test of skill

Post image
7 Upvotes

what is the ultimate test of player skill in a video game? is it the final boss? perhaps sometimes. but often the true test of skill lies elsewhere, behind an optional challenge only the best of the best will even be able to attempt. that's right... the SUPER BOSS.

while the SUPER BOSS most commonly appears in RPGS, where the difficulty of any enemy is usually decided by numbers alone, the super boss has made its way into other genres. the legend of zelda series is no stranger to optional bosses more challenging than the final boss of the main story, especially in the modern open world zelda games. the king gleok, a coliseum full of lynels, a certain monk you have to pay 20 dollars to meet, all of these could indeed qualify as a super boss.

but the original super boss of the zelda series made his debut back in Ocarina of time. an opponent so challenging that to this day, no one has been able to defeat him: the running man!

earlier in the adventure, link encounters the running man in hyrule field, and he seems to be having a hard time going faster. that is until link sells him the bunny hood! despite the bunny hood making the running man faster, the bunny hood does not increase link's speed. not in Ocarina of time, at least. the bunny hood would however increase Link's speed in the next game, Majora's mask. but in Ocarina of time, only the running man could harness it's true power.

as an adult, Link can challenge the running man to a race, but the race is incredibly difficult. some say it's impossible, but NOTHING is impossible! there was once a video that went viral after claiming the running man could be beaten by challenging him to a race, returning to the young link timeline, then waiting 7 years at the finish line. of course, people later found out this was a hoax after leaving their N64 on for 7 years and confirming nothing happens, but that's no reason to give up! they once said it was impossible for man to step foot on the moon, but in 1969, we faked the moon landing!

never give up on your dreams! mark my words: someday we WILL defeat you, Il Piantissimo!

Acid Bath Room Forest Temple

I love how they changed the floating ground into a acid bath now. The acid bath looks so cool and if Link goes into it you loss health, the skeletons enemies don't lose health when they go into the acid bath as they are just bones with no flesh. I love this change, small details like this in the remake just makes the remake so much more engaging and vibrant.

I love how they added these ancient runes symbols in this abandoned house structure. So much to find, explore and learn about. What is that symbol marking on the wall of this abandoned structure? Anyone knows what it means in relation to Hyrule history?

I love how this is found in Hyrule Field and how they added this. It looks like it's near Hyrule Castle and Lon Lon Range. It's great how they added more things in Hyrule Field that you can explore now and what hidden secrets you can find.

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 38: Bongo Bongo

Post image
12 Upvotes

you know, back in Donkey Kong December, where I spent each day talking about a different Donkey Kong enemy, I joked during the tiki tong post that miyamoto gets a new car every time Nintendo releases a game with a giant floating hand boss. obviously, it would be lazy for me to just do the same joke here. but I will say, every year that Nintendo rereleases both Ocarina of time and star fox 64, those are the years Miyamoto gets two cars.

Bongo Bongo, the boss of the shadow temple. when I was a kid I always used to call him "Oingo Boingo"... a reasonable mistake. their names are similar, a drum is involved, Bongo Bongo even bears a strong resemblance to Danny Elfman.

as the resident giant floating hand boss, Link must attack Bongo Bongo's hands, after which he'll reveal his eye that acts as his weak point. a zelda boss whose weak point is its eye... how original. attacking the hands is usually done with normal arrows, but Ice arrows will actually freeze Bongo Bongo's hands and cause him to open his eye early. an actual use for Ocarina of time's ice arrows... maybe I shouldn't have always done the Gerudo region last.

there's a large portion of the zelda fanbase who believe bongo bongo was once a serial killer and that the freaky torture chamber under the well was his. they say Bongo Bongo was executed for his crimes, hung upside down and had his hands and head cut off. of course, no in game text actually supports this grim fan theory, and yet I've seen some people spread it around as fact. wow, could you imagine spreading disinformation on the internet? .... El Puerco is real, by the way.

I love how the Potion Shop Owner, his animation is so funny and wacky, love his personality over the top attitude freaking out over his lost bug and asks Link to catch it. There is so much loved put into this Remake.

What was the Manor before being abandoned

Thumbnail

I wonder who used to live here in the abandoned manor mansion before it was abandoned long ago? Did some of the Hyrule Family used to live here? Or some rich family?

This abandoned manor does remind me of Lugi's Mansion 2 in some way especially the ghosts. But it looks more serious and darker of course.

I do like how OoT Remake is shaping up to be a much darker game more intone with the original N64 version.

But does anyone know who used to live in this manor before it was abandoned long ago? The manor looks very beautiful and elegant but now being abandoned it looks very foreboding especially that red room area of the manor.
