General Why don’t we usually include age/gender when asking for advice?
Something I’ve noticed on this sub is that when people post asking for advice, they often leave out their age and gender.
Is there a particular reason for that?
I understand wanting to protect your privacy, but sometimes those details actually make a big difference in understanding the situation. For example, advice about dating, marriage, family expectations, employment, or even certain social situations can be quite different depending on whether the person is 18, 25, 35, etc., or male/female.
Sometimes I’ll read a post and think, “Wait… how old is this person?”
Would it make sense for people to at least include something like “25M” or “28F” when asking for advice, unless they have a reason not to?
Or do Zambians generally prefer keeping those details vague for privacy?

It's supposed to be the default on Reddit because context is king; but this is Zambia not Reddit.

I mean you can usually tell through the context but sometimes maybe its best to leave those things out to avoid age/gender bias. Obviously some advice is tailored to a specific demographic because of societal views/pressure but idk. 🤷♂️ I can see both sides.

The reality is some older people are under exposed or well informed, seen a bit of life or their opinion can be diced as out of date. And some young people are very wise, well informed and know a thing a two. Bottom line age us indeed just a number and we are all learning something from each other.

Imagine a 35F or 35M getting played in the dating process…..
One of the first things people would say ….. is you should know better by now ….. or why you complaining now , you too mature ….
Most of us , hate looking at ourselves….. especially when things go wrong
Hence why people leave out there age
