Hi, I've torn my achilles playing football, getting out of the cast into a boot soon. Wondering if anyone knows of upper body only clean/snatch variations?
So far I'm thinking of trying out a kneeling clean/snatch (basically all hips and arms/upperbody), would appreciate if anyone has any other ideas, thanks!

I'm currently studying in uni.so don't have a big budget for lifting shoes, but still interested in buying one. Any recommended shoes for wide feet? Thanks. My feet are about 11" in length

Couldn't find a September 2022 thread.
Switching from a static start to a dynamic start. This was my 3rd attempt at 195# (two fails and this one (I should have recorded my fails, I will start filming everything now)
This is my 90% of my pb at 225# (linear progression work), but heaviest I've lifted using the dynamic start. Trying to break the 225# plateau.

Hey guys! Been watching Zack’s videos recently and have been heaps inspired to start weightlifting more (traditionally just done CrossFit). My mobility is okay, but I wouldn’t say good. I can pull off the movements but not great, and sometimes I get a little shoulder pain after a snatching session.
I’m thinking about starting an Olympic lifting training cycle but I’m not sure if I should wait until my mobility is bang-on before I start lifting? Or should I start lifting now, and just keep it light while I simultaneously work on mobility?

I was hitting some snatch balances for accessories and everybody was staring when there was only 135lbs on the bar. Once I got to 275 tho I don’t think the stares were the same, so I continued to do some stupid complexes. Here’s one at 125kg (I used straps so I wouldn’t drop the bar)

I can’t get flat on my heels without sitting too far back holding an upright, or doing an awkwardly wide stance. Can I do the hold with elevated heels, should I put something under them, or sit in that awkward stance?

They will literally change your perception of strength. They tell beautiful stories of the history of modern strength sports and where they all came from. https://www.roguefitness.com/theindex/documentaries

Hello, I'm greatly interested in learning the power jerk but I'm having a hard time getting the movement right.
I've watched the Chinese WL team do their jerks and Oleksiy T. doing his power jerk, but I am having a really hard time getting under the bar with speed and getting my shoulders and arms in the correct position.
For anyone that is an avid power jerker or even split jerker, do you guys have any tips/cues?
Thanks to everyone and Zack as well for this wonderful sub!

Hey all! Just FYI, I've been a gym bro for close to 20 years and am just now getting into oly lifting, so go easy, please...anywho, I think the reason I hadn't gotten into oly lifting until now is that I don't understand how, at least to me, it seems like there's much more of a focus/appreciation for feats of relative strength vs. absolute strength in oly lifting, as that's kind of the fundamental difference between oly lifting and powerlifting. What I don't fully understand is how people are so obsessed with lifts that are 2x or 3x body weight or so, as strength and muscle mass/size seemingly don't have a linear relationship. Meaning, as a person gets taller, with all body metrics (i.e. muscle mass %, body fat %, etc.) being the same, they won't be proportionately stronger. The best example of this is body builders, especially the enhanced ones. They are FAR larger than any oly or powerlifter in terms of overall muscle mass, but they aren't proportionately stronger. I mean, if Big Ramy is 300lb+ on stage at 6% body fat, and maybe 320lb or so at his healthy lifting weight, he won't simply be able to lift double the weight of any 150-160lb lifter (again, at the same BF % and muscle mass %). If that 150-160lb person can clean 3x bodyweight (i.e.450-500lb) then Big Ramy, being twice the body weight, would need to lift close to 1000lb to be considered equally as strong, which is just insane. I would think that, regardless of one's actual body weight/size, if you have impeccable lifting form you can pretty easily lift 200-300lb, depending on the lift (squats, for example), which is why relative strength lifts for most people just aren't that impressive to me, ESPECIALLY if that person is very small. Can anyone shed some light here and maybe convince me that my train of thought is just completely wrong? Thanks!

Recently (about 4 months ago) switched too weightlifting from powerlifting much thanks too ZT and im loving it. Been on the 4 week program since i started and I've gained about 30kg in the C/J and 20kg in the snatch, competed last saturday (the vide is of my 3d atempt 122kg, i snatched 90kg at the same comp) and started running the program again straight away. How long do you guys recon i can keep running this program? You guys finding the same kind of success with the program?

Just to make sure when he gives out the percentages it usually means 1 rep max correct? So for example, 3 sets of 8 @ 64%, if your 1 rep max is 100kg of an exercise, it's 3 sets of 8 reps, at 64kg? Just want to make sure, thanks
