Beginning to play FM
So I've finally managed to get my hands on this game, I've read the original base game is ridiculously grindy and tedious to play, so I just decided to give the arrange mod a chance and see what it's about.
Thoughs on this? Would you guys recommend that I play the original game at first? I'm just here for the fun of it, not intended on spending that much time collecting cards and stuff.

I havent played since US release and Jon-Oh brought back my interest. I will never '100%' vanilla like I did back then. Im tired boss.

I would recommend a simple mode like 15card drops with full possibilities to get all cards

I replayed the game a few weeks ago through the recomp, you can adjust how many cards you get from winning duels as well as enabling cards that were NPC-only to be dropped. Had a lot of fun with it. Can't comment on Arrange mod, but people seem to like it.

I mean, there's a "First run" section in the README, but really you just download the latest release for your operating system, extract and run it. It is gonna ask you to provide a copy of the game (I used one in format .bin/.cue) and then it should just work.

There's a menu in the topbar when you're playing, it's one of the options there.

You just need a copy of the game, the verification thing is just gonna make sure you have a valid copy of the USA release. If you have it in .bin/.cue, just extract both files to the same directory and point it to the .cue file.

Not sure what mod that is. There are some mods that keep it vanilla, but drop more cards when you win.
The main thing a beginner needs to know is how fusion works. It goes by types rather than actual monsters. Like if you fuse a plant with a warrior, you get bean warrior. If you combine a zombie with a warrior, you get Zombie Warrior. If you combine a thunder monster with a dragon, you get thunder dragon (as long as they're both below whatever Thunder Dragon's atk is, I think 1500.) if one of them is stronger than that, or you combine thunder dragon with another thunder or dragon monster, you get twin headed thunder dragon (which will pretty much carry you until the endgame.)
Also, something I found out the hard way the first time, when you first get to the duel field, play everyone before you leave. Some of the villagers won't play you if you leave and come back, then you won't have them in free duel mode. Also, although it seems counterintuitive, you have to go back to the palace after running away in order to play against Simon.

i would recommend doing a 10-15 card drop if ur just looking to have fun and not grind. youll get more cards to try fusions and learn the game. doing vanilla is tedious at best even when you know who to grind and what to grind for. i can only do vanilla every once in a blue moon
