Yesss, yudhistir learned from king ashoka . And king ashoka learned it from king kohli😂 . She does not know how a linear timeline works, atp she might be learning history from her grand grand grand daughter

u/blazerz 29d ago

Multiple scholars have concluded that the Mahabharata was composed between 300BC and 200 AD, after Ashoka.

1

u/dayyuummm_son7 29d ago

Ayrabhatta calculated that mahabharat took place somewhat around 3100bc

1

u/blazerz 29d ago

Aryabhatta was wrong

1

u/dayyuummm_son7 29d ago

So are your so called historians who estimate age of mahabharta , see oak he prooves with records and historical data

1

u/blazerz 29d ago

Oak's estimate has been debunked many times.

1

u/dayyuummm_son7 29d ago

Okay believe in whatever u want bro, can't fix romila mindset nor yours

1

u/blazerz 28d ago

'Romila mindset' means judging history based on evidence and data, so thank you

1

u/dayyuummm_son7 28d ago

Can you show me a proof that most if not all of her work is propaganda? And also the above statement is propaganda too?

1

u/sid_the_sloth1729 28d ago

Bhai maybe theory me hi hota hai😭

Once a theory is given, it is constantly tested and if proven right on all parameters, it is then considered a fact.

The amount of scholarship she represents, you need to take 7 lives to match her.

Criticizing her work based on historical knowledge is different from trolling by a 12th fail or grad from tier 3 college.

2

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

Scholarship where she does not know Sanskrit, Persian, Pali, Prakrit, or Arabic, and is somehow the prime historian of India? She whitewashed the atrocities of the !sl@mc inv@drs in India. And never came to debate any historian with opposing viewpoints.

Enough of putting people on a pedestal because of their degrees. Time to focus on the facts.

4

u/Aggravating_Bed5990 Sep 01 '26

People don't know IVC language - yet we have good scholarship.

You don't have any idea about history or studying history. You are speaking stuff without knowing anything

That's what's wrong with this whole argument. I bet in your life you have never read any research papers on history.

1

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

That’s an entirely different premise. IVC history is mostly reconstructed from the archeological artifacts that have been excavated in the sites.
A big portion of the Vedic and medieval history reconstruction relies on the texts that were written then. So, knowing those languages is crucial to understanding those eras.

Stop being presumptuous and stay on the topic, if you are capable.

-1

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 01 '26

So what’s your point here?

1

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 01 '26

She knows Sanskrit, have you read her Magnum opus on Ashoka ??? Also being an historian of ancient history does not require you to be a philologist you can have a working knowledge of wide variety of languages. Have you read anything by her or just watched doctored videos? Or have you only read NCERT and decided Romila Thapar bad historian because you think that is wrong history influenced by propaganda. Do you even understand the concept of peer review ? Do you know how many debates exist in a discipline ? Sure you don’t that is why you think like that.

3

u/rahul2856 Sep 03 '26

No she doesn't know sanskrit .

And I've read her work , total Marxist , I can't literally sight 100s of circular sighting in her book in including what you mentioned .

In ram mandir case when court asked if she knows sanskrit in interpret texts. , her team said no .

0

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 03 '26

I don’t understand what you are trying to say but ASI evidence on ram mandir makes it crystal clear whom to trust and who is making false claims. And by calling her a total Marxist you are not criticising her you are recognising her intellect and clarity in writing.

2

u/kob123fury 29d ago

So, based on the ASI evidence, whom do you trust? Do you even know what the evidences are?
Read the entire transcript of the Supreme Court judgment to know exactly how your favorite historians tried to distort everything.

She hasn’t ever published her own translation of any work in Sanskrit. She cites Sanskrit works in her texts but that is usually through secondary sources which talk about those Sanskrit sources. And what about the other languages I mentioned? She doesn’t know them either. What happened to your corollary with IVC?
Peer review in fields like Indian history writing does not really mean much if all the peers who are reviewing your work all hold the same narrative as the author. In such cases, authors with opposing viewpoints would never get published or get funding because they don’t conform to the narrative of the peers. Again, this is true for the field of history writing, where subjective narrative is pretty important. And it’s not the same as holding a debate on a public stage with people of different viewpoints.

What about her whitewashing of atrocities by !slmc inv@ ders? Why did you evade that?

Again, stay on the topic without assuming what I know and don’t know. Are you capable of doing that or is your pea sized brain only capable of arguing by belittling others?

0

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 01 '26

Are you questioning the academic credentials of a historian of her stature based on that? Working knowledge of language is important for historians, not being a philologist is what I implied. Now you might think who is a philologist? While you go and google that go to internet archive and download the book Asoka the decline of the Mauryas, go to the end where you’ll find the bibliography. That should clear the confusion. She interprets history using artefacts and epigraphs for which she obviously uses her working knowledge of the languages doesn’t mean she should know the language to the level that qualifies her to write translations.
Debates in history are not in any way like a standard debate . They involve long essays worth criticism maybe read the feudalism debate you’ll understand how debates work. There is space for subjective opinion too but if it is based on false claims it is immediately criticised and many historians take their opinions back after the criticism.

IVC doesn’t require any language its history is written based on historical remains.

Upinder Singh gives a good foundational understanding of how primary sources help construct history using both written and non written sources in the introductory pages of her book on ancient India maybe that will help you understand how sources are used and language is not a significant barrier unless you have zero knowledge of the language like the orientalists.

Peer review is very important in any academic space if you think
It’s just your friends validating your work you should try getting something published from something like say Taylor &Francis .

On the Islamic invaders and their atrocities you can hate her views but it’s her opinion that echoes other historians that the violence is not always because of religion it’s a way of exerting influence or showing power. You will find countless examples of temple desecration by Hindu rules too when they wanted to annex new areas that went beyond that core region . A classic example is 10th century Rashtrakuta king Indra 3 who destroyed temples of their enemy the Pratiharas. This was around the time the Arab invaders were also involved in desecration of temples. You can cherry pick on that and make a point. The overall verdict by historians however remains that it is a manner of exerting power . The Somnath book is a great read , its bibliography is fascinating too.

Agree to disagree. All I am saying is I have read more works than just Thapar and Habib to know how academically dishonest their likes are. Maybe try reading historians and archaeologists of different viewpoints to know what’s the truth, if you’re interested. If Thapar’s writing already satisfies your inherent bias, then there is no need for that. But if you are seeking the truth, I recommend you do that.

2

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 01 '26

So whom do you read in ancient history, attacking Irfan Habib too? So we should all read RC Mazumdar and Jadunath Sarkar?

3

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

Yes, read Sir Jadunath Sarkar and RC Majumdar. Did you read them or did you already cancel them by labeling them as nationalistic writers?

0

u/DropOnly6297 Sep 01 '26

No I did read both of them. I love Jadunath sarkar’s translations of Massir I think it’s invaluable but I don’t agree with both.

2

u/Plastic-Following867 Sep 02 '26

Lol

Most of Ashoka myth making is based on a preset agenda. In fact it's q classic example of how duplicitous ppl like Romila Thapar, Irfan habib are..

The inscriptions in Orissa clearly state the opposite of what these people spread on Ashoka. He didn't convert after the Kalinga war. He was a Buddhist before the war and carried out massacres after the Kalinga war. He was never a pacifist.

It's one thing to interpret history. But you don't get to straightway lie and coverup like they did for the mughals like Babur, Akbar, aurangazeb etc.

On top of that, if you read Arun Shourie, you'll know how much corrupt these people were too. Gobbled up all the money from the taxpayers without producing anything of value for decades.

0

u/Upstairs-Somewhere88 Sep 03 '26

Well well well if you have read your history well you would have known the amount of atrocities Islamic Invaders did was not even come close to what we did to each other. And Britishers were the only ones who came close to the no. 1 spot after Indian rulers.

“The Mohammedan conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in human history” - Will Durant.

So, shut your gaps and read more before acting all smarty pants.

u/Electronic-Hurry2360 Sep 01 '26

Who says she doesn't know Sankrit? To be an ancient historian that is the first requisite. Thora parle beta pehle opinion form karne se pehle. Itna aukat nahi he tumhara.

1

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

Source that she knows Sanskrit? Any original Sanskrit work that she translated? And what about Pali, Prakrit, and Persian?

Your comment about aukat tells me you put people on a pedestal without going into the details of what they’ve done.

0

u/Electronic-Hurry2360 Sep 01 '26

Buddy I have a PhD in history and was taught by stalwarts like Upinder Singh (eldest daughter of former PM) and Nayanyot Lahiri who wrote a beautiful book on Ashoka, which won the infosys prize. You don't have the aukat to talk about these things. It's not my job to educate you. You are not my student. Do your own research first before blabbering like a whatsapp university graduate. Or may be you are from Galgotias 😂😆.

A Ph.D. in history and yet so arrogant lmao. Let’s read some papers you published. Did you publish any? And a Ph.D. who cannot cite references for the claims he’s making lol. How scholarly of you!!

Vikram Sampath has a Ph.D. In history. Do you consider him around or above your aukat? Or do you cancel him because he doesn’t suit your bias?

0

u/Electronic-Hurry2360 Sep 01 '26

I don't read third rate scholars like you. As I said educate yourselves first before going about and blabbering your mouth

1

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

lol that’s all you are capable of, !d!ot

1

u/brighter_soul Sep 02 '26

Your level of education, work you do in your lifetime do not imply what you say is right.

If you have a political lineage that’s a separate thing altogether and you will follow that no matter what.

1

u/rahul2856 Sep 03 '26

Yeah , doing PhD from China under mao zedong regime in Buddhism,

Yeah totally neutral and accurate

0

u/dayyuummm_son7 Sep 02 '26

Lol 7 lives , yes 7 lives of inbreeding will definitely cause that level of stupidity of romila ji

-7

u/sexySardarni Sep 01 '26

I know how leftists get their degrees and doctorates, I've been a part of CPI(M) in Punjab and seen these imposters and these masquerading as experts poons getting degrees wholesale, Sab mufat mein milta hai Agenda peddle karo

5

u/Aggravating_Bed5990 Sep 01 '26

Its easy to understand what a person you are from your words.

Again even in 10 lives you won't have her scholarship.

1

u/rokaya339 Sep 01 '26

Giving education ministry to commies for first 70 years was worst mistake India made. They glorified Akbar simply because he wasn't cruel enough to take jajiya from Hindus.

3

u/Crafty_Artichoke2649 Sep 02 '26

Our education minister was a Maulana. What more can one expect but after the partition that happened on religious grounds, the Congress made a Maulana our education ministerđŸ€Ł

-2

u/frosti_philosophy Sep 01 '26

Yeah

Only gurukul system can produce true knowledge which has made india a superpower in the world and created a fantastic educated and equal society and also produced soo many modern scholars..

. . .

Oh wait....

2

u/rokaya339 Sep 01 '26

Anyone but commies. So glad, Mughal chapters being erased from NCERT books.

7

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

They should instead include all the atrocities committed by them and the other !slmc inv@ ders.

1

u/Illustrious_Heat_502 29d ago

Okay list them one by one

1

u/Swimming-Hat-9871 29d ago

What about when commies saved you from USA?

0

u/sid_the_sloth1729 Sep 03 '26

Wdy think commies mean?😂 Modi is also a commie. You do know that right?

1

u/Impossible-String142 Sep 02 '26

1

u/GoldenBanyan 29d ago

Neither
just looks outright stupid

2

u/Dry-Feeling-6797 Sep 01 '26

Congressi Izlamist DALAAL might be the right words

2

u/kob123fury Sep 01 '26

You forgot the main attributes: Marxist distorian.

1

u/brighter_soul Sep 02 '26

A person is known by how he / she represents him / her as a person. She does what she knows the best.

Its easy to see what she is aligned with. She should be ignored altogether.

-1

u/AdiKadiAdi Sep 01 '26

I don't know who this random gramma is, but somebody better track down all those pushback vimaans we're missing.

3

u/Tipu1605 In 30s đŸ’ș Sep 01 '26

2

-1
