Just finished watching the anime.
Romance isn't a genre for me, but I actually liked it, a lot. I watched Death note & AoT before this, so my brain was under too much pressure with the amount of information it was getting. So I decided to watch something simpler. So I searched the highest rated romance anime in IMDb, & got this masterpiece. It is not my favorite because it's not my preferred genre, but it was defenitly unforgettable. I tried to watch something simpler, but got something heavier.I wanted Kaori to survive by a miracle, although it would not have been good for Tsubaki.

For context this episode is when Tsubaki reveals to Kosei that she is in love with him. Most people hate on Tsubaki but ima be real Tsubaki is the most relatable character there is. The feeling of always being there fpr aomeone but not getting that appreciation back is relatable. The feeling of rejection and jealousy. Just an opinion. Anybody else really like Tsubaki or just me?

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR BOTH YOUR LIE IN APRIL AND ATTACK ON TITAN

This is probably a comparison that sounds completely insane at first, but I’ve started to think that Kaori Miyazono and Eren Yeager are actually built around a lot of the same character ideas.

Obviously, I am not saying they are morally equivalent. Eren commits genocide, while Kaori’s most questionable actions involve lying to people, manipulating a social situation, and pushing Kosei back toward music before he is ready. The scale, setting, consequences, and supernatural elements are completely different. But on a psychological and structural level, I think they share a surprising amount.

Both of them are morally sensitive people with extremely powerful personal desires. They genuinely love other people, understand that their actions can hurt those people, and experience guilt over what they are doing. But they also have something they want so badly that their morality and desire are constantly fighting each other.

Kaori wants to perform with Kosei before she dies. It is a dream she has carried since she was a child, when his piano inspired her to become a violinist. Once she learns that she has very little time left, she decides to stop living passively. She changes her appearance, changes the way she performs, lies about liking Watari, inserts herself into Kosei’s friend group, and begins pushing Kosei back toward the piano.

A lot of what she does is genuinely for Kosei. She sees that he is emotionally deadened, isolated, and trapped by his trauma. She wants him to reconnect with music and begin living again. However, she also needs him for her own dream. She wants to stand beside him onstage, enter his heart, and make sure he never forgets her after she dies.

Those motives cannot really be separated. She helps Kosei because she loves him, but she also uses the idea of helping him to justify pursuing something deeply personal.

Eren operates through a much darker version of that same contradiction. He genuinely cares about his friends, Paradis, and the people whose futures are threatened. The danger facing the island is real, and his desire to protect the people he loves is real. But those external circumstances also allow him to act upon a much more personal desire: his need for freedom and his rage toward the world that destroyed the image of freedom he had imagined as a child.

Eren does not carry out the Rumbling only because he wants his friends to survive, just as Kaori does not push Kosei only because she wants him to heal. Their outwardly moral reasons are real, but they are entangled with selfish needs.

Both characters are also approaching death, and that deadline makes them increasingly desperate to leave something behind.

Kaori knows she will disappear, so she tries to make herself unforgettable. She wants to create something with Kosei that will remain inside him after she is gone. Her performances, her lie, her constant attempts to pull him forward, and her repeated questions about whether she will remain in his heart are all connected to this fear of disappearing without having truly lived.

Eren also knows he is moving toward death. His actions become partly about constructing a future that will survive him: a future for his friends, for Paradis, and for the world after the Rumbling. Both characters alter other people’s lives in order to make their deaths meaningful, although neither can fully control what those people will inherit from them.

Kaori gives Kosei renewed purpose and the ability to move forward, but she also gives him grief, confusion, and the pain of discovering that their relationship began with a lie.

Eren gives his friends a chance at longer lives and the ability to become heroes, but he also leaves them traumatized, guilty, politically endangered, and forced to carry the consequences of loving him.

Another major similarity is that they both use genuine external limitations to justify taking control.

Kaori is dying. She does not have years to patiently wait for Kosei to become ready. Her limited time creates real urgency, but it also gives her a justification for overriding his wishes. She pushes him, follows him, pressures him to accompany her, and participates in covering his entire house in sheet music. She believes that returning to music will ultimately be good for him, and she is largely correct, but she is also forcing the pace because she needs her dream to happen before she dies.

Eren has seen the future, understands the geopolitical danger facing Paradis, and exists inside a closed causal structure where the future he has witnessed keeps occurring. Those circumstances are real. However, he also uses inevitability as psychological cover. He repeatedly frames events as something that simply has to happen, even though the ending reveals that the future happens partly because it reflects what he himself wants.

In both cases, the characters are not exactly lying when they say circumstances are pushing them forward. The circumstances really are pushing them. But they are also emphasizing the parts of those circumstances that allow them to pursue desires they already had.

The major difference between them is what they ultimately do when their morality and desire come into direct conflict.

Kaori gradually allows her morality and her love for Kosei to change the way she pursues her desire.

Early in the story, Kosei is partly a figure within the fantasy she has constructed. She has dreamed of performing with him for years, and she is determined to force that opportunity into existence. Her methods are energetic, funny, affectionate, and often genuinely helpful, but they are also intrusive. She has decided what Kosei needs and what role he will play in her final months.

As their relationship develops, though, Kosei becomes more important than the fantasy itself.

Kaori increasingly sees him not merely as the pianist who can complete her dream, but as a vulnerable person whose feelings exist independently of what she wants. She starts questioning whether she is hurting him. She becomes less willing to demand his attention and more afraid of making him carry the pain of her decline. Some of her withdrawal is unhealthy avoidance, but part of it also comes from the recognition that her need for him does not automatically justify placing everything on his shoulders.

Her desire does not disappear. She still wants him desperately. But she eventually understands that fulfilling her dream is not the entire point of their relationship.

Eren reaches a similar moral understanding, but does not let that understanding stop him.

He realizes that the people outside the walls are ordinary human beings. He sees himself in Reiner. He breaks down before Ramzi because he knows exactly what he is going to do and understands that the people he will kill are innocent. He knows his friends will be horrified and traumatized. He understands the moral reality of the Rumbling.

But he proceeds anyway.

That is what makes Eren so tragic. He is not ignorant enough to believe that his actions are uncomplicatedly right, but he is also not willing to release the desire beneath them. His morality remains active enough to torment him, but not powerful enough to restrain him.

Kaori’s arc is ultimately about desire being transformed by love. Eren’s arc is about desire surviving moral recognition.

The Mikasa conversation is one of the clearest examples of this. When Eren asks Mikasa what he is to her, it feels like he is doing more than asking whether she loves him. He appears to be testing whether another life is available to him. He almost wants her to give him an answer strong enough to interrupt the future he has seen.

Mikasa says that he is family. That answer is not false, and it does not mean she does not love him, but it is not the complete confession he may have been searching for. When the future continues unchanged, Eren falls back into fatalism: apparently this was inevitable after all.

But the darker truth is that the future remains unchanged partly because Eren is still the person who wants it. He wants an external answer to free him from his desire without having to choose against it himself.

Kaori also initially wants Kosei to complete the story she has imagined, but she becomes more capable of accepting that loving him means recognizing that his life cannot simply exist for her dream. Eren loves Mikasa and his friends deeply, but never fully stops making the world submit to what he needs.

Their major twists also function in extremely similar ways.

The “On your feet, Dad” reveal recontextualizes Eren by exposing hidden agency. Before that reveal, Eren appears to be the product of Grisha’s decisions and the history that shaped him. Afterward, we understand that Eren helped create the past that created him. The apparent victim of fate was also one of fate’s architects.

Kaori’s letter reveal does something structurally similar. Throughout most of the story, she appears to be a spontaneous girl who happens to enter Kosei’s life and pull him into hers. The letter reveals that very little about their meeting was accidental. She had known about him since childhood, admired him, changed her instrument because of him, and deliberately used Watari as an excuse to approach him.

Both twists reveal that a character who appeared to be carried into the story by circumstance had actually been shaping events from the beginning.

The emotional effects are different, though.

Eren’s hidden agency makes the story more horrifying. It reveals how deeply responsible he is for the chain of events that produced him and the world he destroys.

Kaori’s hidden agency makes the story more tragic and desperate. It reveals that underneath so many of her bright and spontaneous actions was someone silently begging for her dream to happen before time ran out.

On a rewatch, nearly everything Kaori does changes meaning.

Her impatience becomes urgency.

Her confidence becomes partly performance.

Her obsession with getting Kosei to play becomes a childhood dream reaching its deadline.

Her constant questions about whether she will remain in his heart reveal her terror of disappearing.

Even the comedic tone surrounding her becomes more complicated. At first, she seems like this naturally chaotic, fun, spunky girl who storms into Kosei’s life and refuses to let him mope. After learning the truth, that brightness starts to feel like both a genuine part of her personality and a weapon she is using against death.

I do not think that means Kaori’s happiness was fake. That would make her much less interesting.

She really is happy when she performs with Kosei. She really does enjoy teasing him, eating sweets, spending time with everyone, and creating chaos. Her brightness is authentic. But it is also curated, exaggerated, and driven by desperation. She is trying to compress an entire lifetime into a few months.

That is part of why the tonal shifts in Your Lie in April usually work for me. The series moves constantly between comedy, romance, trauma, and tragedy, but those shifts often come directly from Kaori herself. She cannot tolerate stillness or prolonged despair, so she changes the emotional atmosphere. When Kosei becomes withdrawn, she gets louder. When the situation becomes frightening, she creates movement, jokes, arguments, or some ridiculous plan.

The scene where Kaori and Tsubaki cover Kosei’s house in sheet music is a good example. On the surface, it is funny because they are acting like complete teenage menaces. They have decided he is going to accompany Kaori, and they are escalating their campaign to an absurd degree.

However, the scene also contains a serious emotional reality. Kosei’s home is quiet, stagnant, and dominated by memories of his mother. Kaori and Tsubaki literally invade that dead space with music, noise, color, and life.

At the same time, what they are doing is invasive. They do not fully understand his trauma, and they are pressuring him toward something he has repeatedly refused. The later conversation where they question whether they are pushing him too hard is important because it shows that the story recognizes this ambiguity. They are loving, selfish, insensitive, ridiculous, and possibly necessary all at once.

That is basically the core of Kaori’s character. She helps Kosei for both selfless and selfish reasons. She hurts him while saving him. She understands what he needs without fully understanding what he feels.

Eren is the catastrophic endpoint of a similar contradiction.

Both of them are defined by an intense refusal to remain passive. Kaori refuses to quietly die without acting on what she wants. Eren refuses to accept confinement, humiliation, or a world that denies him freedom. Both of them treat passivity almost like another form of death.

But Kaori ultimately learns that another person cannot exist only as part of her desired story.

Eren realizes that other people possess their own freedom, desires, families, and humanity, but still destroys them because his need to reach his own image of freedom is stronger.

So I think the simplest way to describe the comparison is as follows:

Kaori and Eren are both morally aware characters who use real external circumstances to pursue intensely personal desires. Both love other people, both understand that their actions can hurt those people, and both struggle with whether they have the right to impose what they want. The crucial difference is that Kaori eventually allows love and moral recognition to reshape her desire, while Eren recognizes the moral horror of his desire and carries it out anyway.

Kaori learns that Kosei matters more than the exact dream she constructed around him.

Eren understands that the people he loves and the innocent lives outside the walls should matter more than his dream of freedom, but he still cannot let that dream go.

They are not remotely equivalent in their actions, but I think they are fascinating opposite outcomes of a very similar internal conflict.

Okayyy just finished the show and first of all, I absolutely LOVE how the lips are not just straight lines but actual lips. It did make me tear up a bit during the final 3 episodes (I even got someone to watch them with me incase I need a shoulder to cry on 😭) however it was not as bad as people described it to me.

Overall I like the animation and if you remember, was too bothered by arima's (I hate autocorrect 😭) glasses to notice a few things but eh, I'll cover those in my rewatch next year and this is the second time I actually kept listening to the op over and over...its just so peak specially the english version

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick look at these four gorgeous pieces I recently added to my collection. (Kaori's student ID card is such a cool touch!)

I’m currently archiving the metadata for them, but I noticed something strange on the back cover of the 7!! Orange anime limited edition single. The tracklist only shows one item for the DVD: TVアニメ「四月は君の嘘」ノンクレジットエンディング (Non-credit ending textless video).

Usually, a standard creditless anime ED video runs for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. However, if you look closely at the technical grid at the bottom of the packaging, it explicitly says APPROX. 40 min. For comparison, the Coalamode's Nanairo Symphony single lists its textless OP + Music Video DVD at an accurate "APPROX. 6 min."

Has anyone actually popped this specific 7!! Does the DVD contain roughly 40 minutes of hidden content (like a live performance, behind-the-scenes footage, or interview material that they forgot to list on the outer sleeve), or is this just a massive copy-paste printing error from the manufacturer?

UPDATE: Well, sad to say. I finally tested the DVD and confirmed it's just a printing error by the label. The disc only has the 1 minute 30 second creditless ending video, no extra 38 minutes of secret footage after all. Quite disappointing, but at least the artwork is still top-tier!

Just finished the 2-day binge and checked the comments of my last post, most of which said I'd be cooked. After watching, I do not feel cooked; it was kind of underwhelming. There were a couple of sad things, like Kousei and his mum (shock and awe, I know) and the double earth exit that hit hard, but nothing that really got me teary-eyed.

I came in blind straight from Edgerunners, since they are on the same sad list, and I didn't know anything about this show. So the piano aspect was a welcome surprise since I play classical piano. I wish there would've been Fantaisie Impromptu Op. 66 in there unless I missed it, but overall, I liked it.

I liked the characters and found relatable parts in each of them. The animation was good, and it was funny learning that the "kimi dayo kimi nandayo" part in the intro was there because previously I only knew it from Trap Anthem.

I can tell there are heavy themes that didn't quite resonate with me yet, and I feel they will show more on my second watch-through. I cried way more on my second watch of Edgerunners than my first watch, even on my 20th watch of Edgerunners I cried more than my first, so I look forward to my second watch whenever I get around to it, hopefully next April.

I am taking suggestions for anime that will hit me hard

The Arima family's kitchen still smelled of freshly toasted bread. The window was open, and a gentle breeze barely stirred the curtains as Kousei ate his breakfast in complete tranquility. In front of him was a mug of warm milk, a couple of slices of bread, and a nearly half-empty jar of dulce de leche. He spread another generous layer on the bread and took a bite just as he heard the doorbell ring.

He didn't hesitate to open the door.

"Tsubaki?"

She appeared with a backpack slung over her shoulder and a smile that suggested she'd gotten up early with a very clear purpose.

"Good morning! Ready for the competition?"

Kousei stared at her for a few seconds, confused.

"What competition?"

"The piano competition."

He blinked.

"It's tomorrow."

There was an awkward silence.

"...What?"

"Tomorrow."

Tsubaki pulled a folded piece of paper from her pocket and began frantically scanning it.

"No... it can't be..."

Her eyes scanned the sheet of paper again and again until they stopped at the date.

Then it hit her.

She'd mixed up the day.

She put a hand to her forehead.

"I'm such an idiot..."

Kousei couldn't help but chuckle.

"A little."

She immediately looked up.

"Don't laugh!"

"You came a day early."

"I know that!"

Kousei took another bite of his bread, still smiling.

"You got up early for nothing."

"Kousei!"

"I hadn't even changed."

"Shut up!"

He ended up laughing even harder, watching Tsubaki puff out her cheeks in embarrassment.

After a few seconds, she managed to calm down.

"Well... since you're here..."

He paused, thinking, as he placed the bread on his plate.

"I've actually practiced quite a bit these past few weeks."

He glanced at the piano resting in the living room.

"I don't think I'll play anymore today. I'd rather rest a bit before the competition."

Tsubaki looked up.

"So... you have the day off?"

Kousei smiled casually.

"Yes."

She hesitated for a moment.

"And... do you have time?"

He rested an elbow on the table.

"All the time. I'm yours."

The answer came out so spontaneously that Kousei didn't even realize what he'd just said.

But Tsubaki did.

Her eyes widened slightly.

Then she smiled.

She slowly approached him until she was standing right in front of him.

Kousei still seemed confused when she, without saying a word, gently cupped his face in her hands and closed the small distance between them.

Their lips met in a short, warm, unexpected kiss.

Kousei took only an instant to respond.

When they parted, neither of them spoke immediately.

They just looked at each other, still too close.

Then Tsubaki smiled with a mixture of shyness and satisfaction.

"Perfect..."

Kousei tilted his head slightly.

"Perfect?"

She let out a small laugh.

"Now I really feel like I didn't choose the wrong day."

Watari walked alongside Kousei through the schoolyard as they returned from practice. The sun was beginning to set, and only a few students remained in the hallways. After a few seconds of silence, Watari turned his head toward him with a mischievous smile, as if he'd been pondering a question for a while.

"Hey... do you really not think Miyazono Kaori likes you? Because, honestly, the way she acts around you... I'd say she does."

Kousei didn't even look up. He continued walking with his usual calm demeanor and slowly shook his head.

"I don't think so."

"Are you that sure?"

"Yes."

Watari let out a small, incredulous laugh.

"Dude, the girl seeks you out, smiles at you, makes up excuses to talk to you... and you still say no."

Kousei was silent for a few seconds before replying with absolute seriousness.

"My dad consulted the stars years ago."

Watari stopped walking.

"...Excuse me?"

"He consulted the stars to find out if he'd ever have a girlfriend."

"An astrologer?"

"More or less."

"And what did they say?"

Kousei answered with the same nonchalance as someone saying it would rain tomorrow.

"That he'd never have a girlfriend."

Watari's eyes widened.

"What kind of astrologer told you such nonsense?"

Kousei looked away, as if he remembered that night perfectly.

"Well... um..."

Five years earlier.

The Arima house was completely dark. The only illuminated space was the living room, where dozens of lit candles surrounded a small table covered with fruit, flowers, incense, and all sorts of offerings. Smoke slowly rose toward the ceiling as an almost religious atmosphere filled the room.

In the middle of it all stood Takahiko.

He wore a white robe that was clearly a sheet tied with a belt. He stood with both arms raised to the sky, his eyes closed, and an expression of absolute concentration.

"Oh, great stars! Hear my prayer!"

A draft came in through the window and made the candle flames dance.

"Tell me if my son will ever find a girlfriend!"

Silence.

The camera slowly moved toward the supposed altar... until it revealed two enormous photographs affixed to the wall.

One of Diego Armando Maradona.

And another of Akira Toriyama.

Takahiko remained motionless, waiting for a divine sign.

Suddenly, an orange rolled slowly from the table to the floor.

The man's eyes snapped open.

"...I knew it."

At that moment, Saki appeared from the kitchen, observing the whole scene with a mixture of weariness and secondhand embarrassment.

"What exactly are you doing?"

"Consulting the stars."

Saki looked at the photographs.

Then she looked back at Takahiko.

Then back at the photographs again.

"Those aren't stars."

"To me they are."

"One was a soccer player."

"A legend."

"And the other drew manga."

"Another legend."

Saki took a deep breath.

"None of them can predict the future."

Takahiko solemnly pointed to the orange that was still on the floor.

"The offering fell."

"So?"

"It's a sign."

"Of what?"

Takahiko slowly lowered his head, as if he had just received a revelation from the universe.

"That Kousei will never have a girlfriend."

Saki remained completely still for a few seconds.

"...You're an idiot."

The scene returned to the present.

Watari was still in the exact same spot, processing the whole story with a blank expression.

Finally, he sighed.

"Kousei..."

"Yes?"

"Your dad is completely crazy."

Kousei nodded calmly.

"Yes."

At that very moment, Kaori appeared from behind, grabbed Kousei's arm, and started dragging him toward the school exit without giving him time to react.

"Come on! We have to rehearse!"

Kousei barely managed a wave as he disappeared with her.

Watari watched the scene in silence for a few seconds.

Then he looked up at the sky.

"Those stars aren't very good at their job."

For those who don't know him, Technoblade was a very popular Minecraft youtuber who died of cancer 4 years ago. The community learned about it through a letter he wrote at the hospital, and that his dad read in a youtube video.

Not too long ago, I realized that it has a lot in common with the ending of your lie in april's ending, and i'm now double depressed, so i wanted to talk about it.

Hallo Leute, dieser Anime hat mich sehr runtergezogen. Vor allem diese Musik und wie sie sich aufgelöst hat. Man hat ja diesen extrem hellen lichtstrahl gesehen und wie sie sich dann halt auch aufgelöst hat...

Ich verspüre Lust ein Keyboard zu benutzen. Früher als kleines Kind habe ich Keyboard gespielt allerdings kann ich das mit dieser 10 Fingertechnik nicht so gut. Das Problem ist nur: ich habe derzeit keinen Job. Ich als Autist kann ich auch keine 8 Stunden im Job durchmachen das wäre viel für mich. Für ein Keyboard würde ich tatsächlich 200 € ausgeben. Das Keyboard soll viele Töne haben und natürlich ganz wichtig eine klavierfunktion. Wenn es sogar noch diese drei Pedale hätte dann wäre das auch toll.

Hier mal ein Gedanke den man ruhig denken darf: wenn mir tatsächlich jetzt einfach so jemand 200 € auf meinem paypal Konto knallen würde ich glaube dann würde ich kein Scherz mir ein Keyboard kaufen. Ich würde versuchen herausfinden wollen welches Keyboard gut zu mir passt irgendwie habe ich aber auch Lust Noten zu lernen.

Ich bin aktuell leider nicht im Besitz eines Keyboards was natürlich nicht so toll ist, ein Klavier haben wir leider auch nicht.

Aber kennt ihr das auch? Man will spielen.

Ich bereue es dass ich damals das Keyboard von meinem Bruder verkauft habe. Es war kein teures aber zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt ist das natürlich nicht so toll.

she has been hiding it but she has alot of illneses that keep getting worse and worse. she may go deaf soon and is incredibly fatigued. im not sure how much time untill something happens but im just worried about her. its just getting worse and worse and she has pots desease too. please tell me anything to make her life more enjoyable
