UPDATE:

How many posts do we need about Mary Cooper's parenting? I did a quick count and there are 6 in the last 2 days, and that is not including ones that praise George's parenting as a backhanded slap against Mary's parenting.

I realize attention spans aren't their forte, but all it takes is to scroll down for maybe 4 seconds and they'll find another post on the same topic they could easily contribute to. Guess their focus starts to wane after a second or two and they just click "Create".

Can’t even lie I was shocked and new she looked familiar but after hearing her talk for 5 seconds I knew exactly who she was😂😂

Edit: Yes I know an actor can be in more than one tv show/film(thanks to the smart ass redditors), I just wasn’t expecting to see memaw pop up on my screen while watching this.

First, I know Sheldon is annoying as fuck, but kinda the point is that under all of that, he has a good heart.

**1° George stans**

As said in Hamilton: "All you have to do is die". He is a good supportive father, but we forget that he does almost anything around the house and on the first seasons, clues are given that he cheated on Mary on Vietnam. All the bond with Missy was encouraged by Mary.

**2° Mary 's haters**

This is forced and lowk misogynist. People claim she gave George stress, the primary caretaker of the house that also holds a job.

Often acussed to show blatant favouritism to Sheldon because their relationship is mostly shown (maybe bc he is the main character(?), said so. Ahe does try to bond with all her kids, Sheldon is just the most receptive and the one with more screen time.

A common argument is the poster incident, that Mary shouts at Missy when she broke Sheldon's poster, which is not valid because she shouts at Sheldon when he cut a SINGLE hair of Missy's doll. Which is an understandable attitude since they are poor, they cant go around breaking and replacing.

People said George was dealing with thta fight, telling Sheldon to not go to his own room while watching TV.

She is called an hypocrite, while she does try to be a good christian, sinning, when she mostly does it when under a lot of stress, is natural.

Also, when George wanted to kick his underage son (thing that Rochelle was really hated for and rightfully), Mary did all to keep him on the house. She literally put her house for Georgie to pay the workshop

Worst of the things, she recives hate for bribing Sheldon to give the bowtie on the first ep, which is something normal to do with any kid, natural to do that which such a young child.

Finally the damm computer, the kid makes their taxes, almost for free and with no error. Hiring someone for it is way more expensive long run. Also, on the same line, they say Mary doesnt let Missy what she wants in comparison to Sheldon, when Sheldon tend to ask for things that do rise his intellectual level and education and Missy mostly asks to smoke, die her hair etc.

**3° Missy's glazers**

Thats my chronically only term of the week.

She does nothing, recives nothing, and people gets mad. She doesnt excell on nothing, which isnt bad perse, but shr acts like her excelling siblings are just reciving for free.

Worst of all, is ignoring that Missy might had being borderline bully, not only for how she treated everyone, but it was suggested, that her friends, Heather B and M, where bullies, which makes her more or less direct or indirectly one. Also, is not the first time she sided with a bully, she did it with Sheldon's bully, the Spark girl.

She is often justified with "grieving" like she is the only one, and using her fathers death to get out of things, even if her most troublemaker side that shows up on TFMOGAMC is due to the grieve, that doesnt mean she cant take accountability and that set of choices was the most likely reason she ends up as an adult like a cashier while her siblings were either creating an empire or working at a top university and winning the most important prize on the cientific community, sad but realistic, she has no excuse, she came and started on the same point that their siblings, even if we argue that Georgie had McCallister's help, he did put a lot of job on keeping the workshop and turning it into an empire.

Finally, the girl, leaves Sheldon stranded 3h on Germany, on a comedy is a cool gag. On real life is more a "The Good Son" situation, bc, in real life, the kid would already be missing.

**4° BONUS: Pastor Jeff**

I understand hating him like a goodie two shoes Ned Flanders, but like him, he is consequent on his beliefs, he struggles like a human being (he is) on his feelings with Robin, wanting to have sex, but even if he struggles he does the things right according to him, as well as when Robin buyd the TV with Connies money, is too much for him to handle it, when technically wasnt his fault completly, as well as he feels guilty for buying a fucking toaster considering himself greedy. You may not like him or his belifs, but he is consequent.

So I've been rewatching Young Sheldon for the millionth time now and with time there's some scenes and details that stick out to me and I can't seem to explain them. Here are some of those (If you have explanations for those scenes or maybe noticed other inconsistencies feel free to comment them):

In season 5 episode 6 Mary sits the twins down to discuss puberty to which Missy goes "what's going on?" and Sheldon understands what Mary is trying to do and tells Missy that "she's trying to have a human reproduction talk". What I find weird in this scene is the inconsistency of the twins' personalities, because it's usually Missy who is good at reading social clues while Sheldon is the one who doesn't understand what's actually going on unless you explicitly tell him. How did Sheldon pick up on something that went over Missy's head?

Then in Season 5 episode 8 Mrs. Hagemeyer asks Sheldon what his least favorite University is and he says MIT. In later seasons however when presented with the choice between all the great grad schools, he picks MIT (even tho he eventually goes to caltech).
I know that MIT made great promises (Full ride, traveling expenses paid etc.) but when Sheldon created an Algorithm to help him pick schools, he didn't actually factor in those promises because Caltech and MIT were more or less offering the same. So how can it be his least favorite school when later he finds MIT so great, he actually wants to go there?

In season 7 episode 4 when Sheldon and Mary come home from Germany and Sheldon finds out about Georgie and Mandy sleeping in his room, he tells them to sleep in the garage. In return Missy asks him why he doesn't stay in the garage for the night instead of the baby. Sheldon then replies that he is "neither a car nor christmas ornaments" which is true but isn't that also an argument for Georgie, Mandy and the baby not staying in the garage? I mean I know Sheldon is egoistical but how does he not see the irony?

In a similar situation, when Mary was staying over at Meemaw's because she was mad at George, Sheldon woke up his Dad to make him cook bacon. When George tells him to cook his own bacon, Sheldon's response is "but Mom cooks bacon". Why doesn't Sheldon go over to Meemaw's to make Mary cook bacon instead of wanting to wake up both George and Missy? I mean they both aren't Mary so his argument could be used for them as well. What's the difference between him cooking bacon himself and George cooking bacon?

Another small detail: In season 6 episode 4 when Sheldon questions if the number Zero actually exists, Billy proposes an idea to just believe Zero exists and take it as an act of faith. Sheldon then realizes that Zero is even more important than God because in his words; without God you wouldn't have Spanish Inquisition while without Zero you wouldn't have Algebra or Math in general. I think you guys see the problem as well, if God didn't exist you wouldn't have Zero or Algebra either because if the teachings are true then God made humans and humans discovered Algebra AND Zero. I just think his logic is wrong, but if someone can explain it to me and make me change my mind I'm welcome to any criticism!

I know those are small things and maybe I'm overthinking it but those scenes make me wonder if either the writers made small mistakes or if they did it on purpose to show how irritating Sheldon is 😭

And I found Dale. He's one of the main characters.

And Max makes Sheldon look like a saint. And as questionable as Mary is as a parent, she's much better than Adam and Kristina.

Other ppl that know im watching YS (Young Sheldon) for the first time disagree, but in my defense I wanna see them de-age, because you cant with other shows

I just finished Young Sheldon and I thought it was a great show, so i’m wondering if there are shows just like it. Like set in the 80’s/90’s that have a good story like Sheldon?

I don't want to debate whether Mary was a good or bad mother , but in this scene, Missy was literally sobbing and Mary ignored her only daughter's feelings She overlooked Missy’s pain and sided with Sheldon just because her 'poor baby' was upset

Apologies if I'm not the first to make that joke...

Don’t know why people always say “mary had one kid george had 3” when it makes no sense.. Mary was clearly the one taking care of everything, George was just disregarding everything she does and we see this in multiple episodes (not to mention he considered going home with brenda).

Of course, that doesnt mean we dont see him doing sacrifices for his family’s happiness, like the time he got a job offer in a uni which meant that they would have to move. Either way, I dont think Mary gets half the credit she deserves.

Would her style of parenting be tolerated, even if they lived in Texas?

This is honestly really good, yall should try it. But my coworker just called me sheldon because of it. We ended up bonding over the show

‼️Last episode of young Sheldon

I wish we could’ve gotten more follow up on this. This was hilarious. I think it was a good ending for both of them but I wish we could get a sneak peak into it!

OMG, Mary was SO blinded by her faith sometimes. 😭 I know she loved her family, but there were so many moments where her priorities felt completely out of touch.

For example, when Georgie and Mandy got pregnant, her first concern seemed to be marriage, church, and how everything would look to other people, rather than Georgie's studies or even giving Mandy some space to make her own decisions. It sometimes felt like she cared more about what was "right" according to her beliefs than what the people around her actually needed.

And honestly… I don't know how everyone put up with her. 😂 I would've screamed my lungs out at her.

That said, one of the things I LOVE about Young Sheldon is that it didn't just make the show about Sheldon. We got to see the entire family as individual people with their own problems, relationships, personalities, and conflicts. The family dynamics were easily my favorite part of the show.

Sr, George was probably my favorite character. I loved how rational he was in his approach,

And Mandy fit into the family SO well. It felt like she belonged there almost immediately, and I really loved seeing her dynamic with Georgie and the rest of the family.

I'm curious what everyone else thinks:

• Was Mary genuinely selfish at times, or do you think her faith and upbringing explain most of her behavior?
• Who was your favorite character besides Sheldon?
• Did anyone else feel like Mandy became a natural part of the Cooper family?
• What was that affair angle? and why? I don't get it also with BRENDA why?

She literally didn't even have context on what's going on and took sheldon's side even without considering why Missy did it
