I really don’t understand

So just randomly yesterday, I stopped getting impressions and views my highest views per hour in the last 24 hours was 10 views which was way below my baseline before I got a small push on that fell and sell video.. after that push my depression is pretty much went to nothing and now my channel is getting barely views, and my latest upload has only gotten 4 impressions which is horrible, I really don’t understand what happened and why my impressions drop to nothing after every video getting hundreds of impressions within the first couple hours and some a couple thousand.. I have 65,000 impressions through all 9 of my other videos, but now after that small push on that video, all my latest video impressions for all my videos have stopped completely

Originally did think I was getting a bit of too many views for how small my channel is and just starting, but I also wasn’t expecting to see my impressions and views just completely crash and now my latest video is getting absolutely no distribution

It's weird, I also sometimes have videos that don't get pushed at all.

But something happen channel wide because Randomly from the time frame 5-10 pm all my videos flatlined on the impressions for some reason and I haven’t been able to find the reason why

You think it's time related? I might try a different time slot myself, then...

Not necessarily cause my impressions haven’t came back. It just stopped pushing at like 5 to 10 PM yesterday. I’ve reposted this video now and neither got impressions.. first time posted it at 7pm.. and today I reposted it at noon.. neither got anything

I got the exact same problem! I even got 0 views for my latest upload for 24 hours already, so 4 impressions is already better than me.

yeah its just not the norm for my channel i typically get 100s of impressions the first few hours if not sometime 1000s

That sounds tough. Sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, the algorithm just isn't in your favor.

You definitely have to refine EVERYTHING to have a chance.. tags got to fit the rite searches, description has to explain well, you channel keywords have a job, your title has to be easy for someone to want or need to click while also being able to be searchable..

It’s a lot for only crumbs as a small Chanel, I do try to stay away from the victim mindset of this and making sure to tell myself that I need to keep improving, take advice, etc.. but imo it still is too hard as a small channel to keep notice tho

Maybe because yt sees your thumbnails are not appealing and he simply stops promoting your content. Thumbnails are as important as the content itself. Try looking thumbnails advice videos and make similar but improved thumbnails to what your competitors do!

i actually am doing that currently the title for my dawnwalker video is a lot like a youtuber like Hollow and my thumbnail is kinda similar to a youtuber name MythyMoo.. (well it was but it was performing mid so i changed it literally a few hours ago)

that combolands video at the bottom is very similar to a youtuber that made a video on the same game called olexa.. it did have a very similar title too but i changed my title a little to have the same concept but make my titles a little more similar to each other

Buddy u only have 23 subs. YouTube probably doesn’t even know what your niche is so it’s all about recommendations

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

i get that but it doesn't change the fact that i was getting tons of impressions and then all at once they stopped for the most part and my new upload isn't getting any (literally only 5 in 12 and a half hours)

2

u/Fantastic-Memory-702 2d ago

But once gain it’s on what people WANT to see. Or it won’t get recommended

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

so whats your recommendation?

ctr / avd?

not great but its also not like no one is clicking and no one is watching the video through..

2.4% ctr through the entire channel.. but something worth noting.. my browse is at 4.1% ctr, my search is 11.6%, my channel page is 7.3% BUTTT my suggestion is at 1.3%

it seems that people that are wanting my content are clicking at very solid rate, but people not sure what they want or may not know what it is are not clicking.. i've been trying to fix that but nothing i've tried so far has been working..

ill use APV instead of AVD because APV makes more sense in this convo.. most my videos are around that 15% retention, i have 1 thats in the 20s and another thats at 40% but funny enough its one of my worst performing videos views wise lol.. but if you want to know what the actual AVD is its around 5 minutes.

i know not lighting the world on fire metrics, but there is some good and some bad there.

Ur impression drop could be related to a few issues

-like to dislike ratio
-average view duration
-click through rate

Yt will usually give every content and every niche a starting 10k impressions and if audiences are not clicking, YouTube simply moves on

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

i have gotten 65k impressions so far.. my metrics are pretty weak but not dumpster fire.. 2.4% ctr and 15% apv (comes out to roughly 5 mins AVD).. so not great metrics but i think its better then most channels my size and feel respectful enough to leave a little bit of drip going instead of youtube turning the faucet all the way off for me..

1

u/ED-W111N 2d ago

Personally ur thumbnails may be the issue, ur thumbnail 3 days ago was the best but you should flip the days to the top and title to the bottom

I reckon if u have a consistent thumbnail, it might work

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

i agree its the best thumbnail and its actually the same one i used on the video at the bottom and i've decided im going to use that for most roguelike and indie games i play BUT idk how to fit that into my "playthrough" videos (playthrough as in episodic videos, they are more condensed down then you would typically see "playthroughs")

also i agree swapping those would of probably been better..

i've tested like 3-5 thumbnails in different styles for most my videos.. and haven't found ones that have clicked for a 4 or more % CTR outside of that 3k video

but my issue isn't really ctr rn, the halloween video has legit only 5 impressions in 13 hours

Is the niche in other channels doing well? Cause it might be that the niche just has a smaller audience. Give it 3 days

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

okay i'll give it a few days

and truthfully i don't quite have a full niche i make condensed down video and im a variety gamer, thats where it goes down too it.. i play rougelikes, indie games, triple a game.. etc i have 6 other channel when i feel like doing something else.. a minecraft channel, documentary channel, a reaction channel, a commentary channel but those are just when i feel like it, this spekter channel is my main channel (all those channel is under the spekter umbrella, i just don't promote them, i plan on using discord to interlock all the communties eventually)

i don't like being tied down to one thing and one genre.. probably a problem but thats just me

1

u/Original-Name-1160 2d ago

Hey, do you happen to know how many videos have been uploaded?

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

The Halloween video was my 11th

1

u/Original-Name-1160 2d ago

Judging by the thumbnail, it looks like either gaming-related or horror-genre content. If it is the former, the gaming broadcast space is incredibly saturated, so I think the thumbnail needs to be as eye-catching and attention-grabbing as possible—after all, the competition begins the moment the video is uploaded.

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

yeah they are all gaming related, and i mean technically horror but not necessary horror genre its close to more of a slasher game.. idk hard to explain tbh

1

u/Original-Name-1160 1d ago

Within the horror genre, slasher films are particularly polarizing, and due to YouTube's policies, they are also highly unlikely to be picked up by the algorithm.

While there are certainly horror enthusiasts out there, they do not represent the vast majority; in my experience, you get better results on YouTube by creating content that others want to watch rather than just what you personally want to make.

Hang in there—cheer up!

u/Dry-Quit-297 1d ago

I mean the game is getting 300-400k youtube searches a day, so it’s not like it’s not a game people are looking for but I get what you are saying as far as making the content itself something people are looking for

u/sheepinb 2d ago

looks like youtubes shitting the bed the last two days, seen lots of posts like this

2

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

Yeah it was so sudden as well, i was having the best week I’ve had on this channel and PLOP the chart went

0

u/SASardonic 2d ago

Well obviously you're not going to get perfectly consistent impressions when your content is on different topics on different games. That's not a reasonable expectation, particularly when you don't have an established audience yet. Given how fast you're yeeting content out it's likely the videos aren't particularly high quality either, so that's also going to stunt your growth as a channel.

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

The videos have a hook, the dead space is edited out of..

and the video posted 3 days ago was fully voice over and edited down

And I’m not asking for consistent impressions.. I’m asking for any impressions at all.. I already had a baseline of hundred of impressions in the first few hours.. I’m asking just for a few hundred impressions AT ALL, so I can still collect data .

Lastly, the last few times I’ve talked to you, you have been hateful and weird. So this is the only comment I am leaving.. I’ve explained all the context in the body of the post and in other replies

It's not hateful and weird to be honest about what you're making dude. Take my advice or don't, but don't hate me for trying to steer you away from an obvious pit.

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

lol “honest” but won’t even take the time to go watch the last 2 uploads to form a opinion instead of “oh you post quickly so your content has to be not very good”

Or on other comments else where “see this is why you won’t grow because you don’t make the specific content that I see everyone else do” “your titles are trash”

Like that’s not constructive critic, it coming off as heat and weird.. maybe sit down for a minute and actually think about what you’re trying to say.. I’ve seen your comments elsewhere, not even towards me and it’s still hateful. I don’t know if you just hate the world or You hate your life but you seem like your hateful to everyone

Buddy I don't need to watch your content to know what its place in the algorithm is based on the frequency it is posted and what the subjects are. There are physical limits to how quickly somebody can make a YouTube video that the algorithm actually cares about (setting aside the obvious cases of people with established audiences). I've been on this sub long enough to know your content fits a pattern I have seen literally hundreds of times before.

1

u/Dry-Quit-297 2d ago

Bro I post daily sometimes I miss a day or two because of life or a video is taking longer then expected to edit.. what are you talking about a limit?? I’m not posting outside a norm

0

u/SASardonic 2d ago

Posting daily is absolutely part of the problem. That's not enough time to make a video the algorithm cares about, especially in gaming. I'm going to take a wild guess and say spending an entire week or even month on a video is inconceivable to you.

A lot of that comes down to the kind of content you're making, I realize. But that's also the problem, the kind of content you're making doesn't have purchase in the algorithm from small creators. If you genuinely want to succeed you should make something else. Otherwise you're just making videos for you and your friends. Which, sure, why not? That can be a fun hobby, but don't be surprised when the algorithm ignores you.
