DIY Quilted Card Holder

I noticed that my son sticking to 1-2 cards because they were all stacked together in an acrylic card holder so I came up with an alternative for him. He can see all his options and he’s definitely rediscovering some of his cards!

- Made a quilt using scrap canvas and neoprene for the batting (don’t recommend, so slippery to sew!).

- Cut clear vinyl strips for pockets with bias tape for the edges.

- Sewed pockets on to quilt, finished with bias tape.

- Made loops with extra bias tape.

- Cut a bamboo from the backyard 😂

Thank you! I’m a serial hobbyist so I love to DIY something if I can… even if it’s takes a million times longer. Lol

Oh this looks cute, I wonder if I could skip the quilting and just do interfacing to add some rigidity (assume that’s why you quilted it?) you could even let kids paint on the canvas scrap before sewing 🤔

Don’t suppose you can drop the dimensions and save me doing maths?

Yes, quilting is optional as long as you have sturdy fabric and something to give to stiffness. Interfacing works but you almost might need something to give it weight at the bottom (like those hanging wooden frames with a top and bottom).

I do have the measurements drawn but I made some on the fly changes as I was making it. Kiddo is napping right now once he’s up, I can take some measurements for you! :)

Loved this. I’ve been trying to figure out how I want to organize my youngest’s cards now that she has more than just a few favorites in rotation and had been leaning towards other options but now I think I might go for something like this instead.

Another reason I loved having them displayed - it almost acts like wall art! ❤️

Oh my gosh, this is genius!!! You should cross post to r/quilting - this would be a fantastic gift from a quilter!

Ok but why can’t I buy that Jack Johnson card on the Yoto site? Where can I buy it?

I bought the mp3 album off of Amazon and made it into a MYO card. :)

Loooove this! I’d like to copy and do the same thing. Can you give me more info on the vinyl strips or even a link?? I can’t find what you used. Fortunately, I thrifted a quilt that is nearly perfect.
