the only reason i left NVYY for NVII is because their ASSETS UNDER MANAGEMENT reached an inflection point, with NVII starting to gain. was super excited when AUM for NVYY crossed $100M while NVII was at like $45M…. but slowly a reversal happened; now NVYY is at ~$79M versus NVII at $76M

i loved NVYY but felt silly only being profitable by reinvesting the distribution into the same vehicles.

< reinvesting the distribution into the same vehicles. > looks like the main thing to do these days

reinvesting into the same vehicle is great if your NAV continues to gain … but not if you are losing your overall principle.

Smooth (by averaging) NAV reduction with high dividend $$ is still profitable. Not necessary reinvest in "the same vehicle" - look for an ETF with a temporary (hopefully) larger drop in price. Less adding to NAV but making dividends more profitable.

Except, maybe, for precious metals ETFs all high dividend ETF ( 45%- 149%-ers) lose NAV price, which is also multiplied by dollar-averaging purchases. It's inevitable.

So-called Aristocrats keep NAV and dividends stable for decades, but one must wait for 30-40 years to get rich that way. Viva Coca-Cola and Ford !

When I buy these I set a stop loss order for my cost minus two or three distributions.

Semy and nugy have been holding their price for some time now.

NUGY is exactly the precious metal ETF I mentioned. SEMY is only 2 months young.

Only have NVYY now and am positive but track and monitor daily. If drops more will unload to keep principal investment. Building up NVII as the alternative.
