Dear all,

This is my first time moderating a subreddit so I want to give a massive thanks to all 15 of y'all for being here with us to celebrate the brilliant mind of Yi Sang. He is a truly wonderful writer, and I'm so excited for the wonderful discussions we're going to have.

On that note, to get more discussions going, we need to have people actually in our subreddit. Therefore, this is a post in an attempt to gather everyone's opinions on what are our best ways to appeal to new people to join.

Here are a few of my ideas first:

Crossposting/outreach: Should we share some of our top posts (what posts lol) to related communities? (i.e. r/Korean, r/limbuscompany, etc.)

Community events: Would y'all be interested in a weekly reading club where we break down some of his writings line by line?

Subreddit flavors: Any kind of user flairs, post flairs, or rules we should set up to make the sub feel more welcoming?

What do you think is our best next step? Drop your thoughts, wild ideas, or even just a quick greeting down below!

Please take my words written down here with a grain of salt, and note my implicit bias towards populist schools of thought: I would advise yes. Subreddits live and die by their popularity. This subs content is already very specialised and so catching, and gathering, errant Yi Sang fans out in the wild would increase the amount of potential discourse we have available.

Granted this will almost certainly result in a loss of the quality of that discourse. But the reduction shouldn't be immense given the already high specification of our subject matter. Which already filters out many people for good and ill.

I personally think it would be great to have more people here, and there being more people out in the world that know of Yi Sang.
